((I hate trying to play catch up… here's another late entry and with yet another to come.))
Dear Diary,
I met Lady Anna’s fiancé today, a man by the name of Mariston. I must admit that he is quite a gentleman. He speaks differently than most folk, very old fashioned with his words.
We went out into the kobold hills today. Lady Anna and Mariston took the lead, while Alek, a woodsman I don’t know well, and I followed. I stuck by to the shadows whenever possible. This was all good for practicing such skills, I must say. While we ventured deep into the foothills, we met up with a few other folk. An elf named Sy’wyn, a woman named Daria, and another man who’s name eludes me.
We all quickly noticed the kobolds seemed to be up to new tricks, as they had laid some traps before us. Unfortunately, Mariston and Lady Anna happened to find each of them the traditional way, by setting them off. They should have let me try my hand at disabling the traps (and I told Lady Anna such afterward, and she agrees). We hunted kobolds in all the foothills and even scoured a cave. All in all, it was a good adventure though. A couple of times the kobolds did seem to swarm up on us, but we prevailed and returned to the city.
Alek didn’t say much to me which was odd. I found out the reason why when I retired to bed after talking with Lady Anna and Mariston for a while. Alek had left a note under my door when he had left us soon after returning to the city. He’s left for home, to tend to his sister. I’m glad he thought to let me know he’s left, and I hope he returns soon. He’s been a good friend. I’m worried about part of his message though. He wrote that he’s had dreams of great evil coming to these lands and that he’s afraid something will happen to me. I pray that he’s just had a bad nightmare and nothing more.
Good night, Diary.
