Jiyyd Rumors

  • Rumors spread that Penny was seen walking south toward Sam's Hill from Peltarch with a paintbrush in one hand, a bucket of paint in the other, and a smile on her face, all while singing a happy tune about days gone by.

  • Dentin refrains from making open statements or speeches, having learned from the past, instead devoting himself to aiding wherever and however he can. From bringing supplies from the other towns, to aiding in sheltering the homeless survivors, to tending to the wounded, before turning to work with the town's people as they clean up the remains of what was destroyed, and as they set to rebuilding the town, he uses what knowledge of construction he has to make sure the new buildings will be stronger than ever, providing guidance and organisation, as well as straight-forward labour, to ensure that the rebuilding proceeds swiftly.

  • Rumours spread, harshly criticizing the council's ineffectiveness in a crisis.

Sometimes a poor farmer with a grizzled beard can be heard grumbling about how "none o' the council need worry for their women, all locked up safe and sound as they are. No siree, not thier problem."

Other times a well-to-do merchant will be praising Dwin for his swift action in giving aid to the town, and saying that if not for his timely leadership, it would have been a lot worse.

Sometimes it is a heartbroken mother, crying for her lost daughter, who had been taken by the orcs. She is heard to say that Nothing like this ever happened in Norwick, Mister Dolvak made sure of that…

And every once in a while it is a young hothead who speaks in a hushed voice to those who have lost and who stand to lose, suggesting that it is time for change in Jiyyd, and that the council is no longer fit to govern. It is clear that things have been better since Dwin has taken charge, and if the Council cannot accept that, its is the responsibility of each of us to make them accept it.

Only the very very observant would notice that each of these malcontents had the same lavender eyes, sparkling with mischief. And even then, only if they happened to encounter more than one of them and see their eyes.

  • Mariston seeks a more unified answer from the council preferably Lens

Meanwhile a dwarven cleric of Marthammer Duin guides the injured to the dwarven temple where he tirelessly aids in the healing. He also offers what space is availible to house those without accomidation

"Farking orcish wankers, yis whit wan's kin stay here awhile un'ill yer homes is fixed up an a' tha'"

  • Right after the attack, as Tolin emerges from the legion hall, he immediately starts putting out fires with massivve ice spels and destroying what pikes the orcs left, taking the dead bodies from them and leaving them at vroka's

((sorry i didnt post earlier it was 4 or 5 AM here when the event was over didnt feel like posting it then))

  • Speaking for the Council, Dwin thanks him and says that everything has been secured and that Norwick has already responded to the crisis. Homeless Jiyydians are welome to relocate to Norwick temporarily.

    Thanks-very-much, though.

[EDIT by Herrold: The council is fine and the orcs did not get that high up on the hill. They stayed close to the west gate, burned some houses and piked some commoners and ran off with some women.

the COUNCIL did not suffer any casualties]]

((edit by Dwin… Never did I claim that anyone on the Council actually died. Dwin half-heartedly looked for any member and when he didnt see them he started shouting out orders, assuming he was in charge. Perhaps as soon as a council member shows his face or stops hiding under a bed, Dwin will relinquish control.))

  • Healers and knights of The Order move through the town aiding as best they can. Healing and cleansing wounds, their words spoken ensuring that despair does not over the town.

Mariston speaks to the council asking if there is ought that Peltarch can do to aid in this time of need. What supplies are needed and in what numbers? Would the town wish any defenders to aid in securing their borders ?

  • _Dwin exits the Crafting Hall. After some hushed conversation with some of the guards, several of them salute Dwin and give small cheers. 2 run off and return promptly with a bench which they place atop the archer tower.

Dwin then sits atop the tower, looking out over Jiyyd with about a half dozen ale bottles at his feet and seems rather pleased with himself._

  • *The heroic Knight, Caling, joins the clean up operation despite her inability to shift large weights. She devotes herself more to making sure that people are warm, clothed and quartered in the surviving buildings and that whatever valuables they hold dear are recovered from the ruins of their burning homes. *

_'We can bear this with fortitude and Sune's love in our hearts. We will rise again and stand fast against the hordes! Don't believe that they are hornets or or a plague - these are strong, powerful orc warriors, raised to kill and rend and destroy.

'They will not sit idle, while we rebuild. They will come again. We will be ready, though. The city of Peltarch will send such aid as it can. The doughty rulers of Norwick are already here to reinforce you.

'With Beauty and Passion in our hearts, we will face them together, and survive!_

*Only the very observant will note that Caling's skill with trap and bow at the walls becomes more selfless devotion to logistics and alerting the Templars of Helm, when the really big orcs come. *

_Many of those who survived can be seen giving praise to the brave Legion men and women who died in defense of their town. Word spreads that an ultimate solution to the orc menace needs to be found.

Around the campfire, Abner speaks up_

Don't believe the lies others might whisper. Listen to the truth, spoken openly and without shame.

We must understand that certain implicit forces of evil exist in nature. For example: there is a wildness and raw quality of survival which all living things possess. However, this raw quality in itself does not necessarily make something evil, per se. The ability to predisposed malevolence and ruin perhaps does. Orcs and the like are predisposed to our ruin. The evidence isn't just overwhelming, it's staggering. It cannot be denied.

This brand of villainy cannot be bargained with or persuaded. No amount of diplomacy or concession can leverage a solution. No my good friends, this sort of infestation is like a large hornets nest twhich has silently moved in outside your front door. You cannot reason with the nest of hornets. You cannot beg from them safe passage. You cannot dispatch a diplomat to plead ones possition or right to life. Your only course of action is to put them to the torch and completely destroy them. All of them.

It does not end there. Long after the torch burns out, one must remain ever alert and ever prepared, lest new hornets move in and take up the cause of their previous kin to reclaim their sting upon your sleeping brow. Never rest, never sleep, never quit until they are all burned out!

  • _Finding no other surviving Council Members, Dwin lets everyone know to come to him if they need anything.

He will be in the Crafter's Union Hall working on the new gate hinges._

[EDIT by Herrold: The council is fine and the orcs did not get that high up on the hill. They stayed close to the west gate, burned some houses and piked some commoners and ran off with some women.

the COUNCIL did not suffer any casualties]]

  • _Dwin leads a dettachment of a dozen Norwick Militia into town and starts to clean up what he can, making piles of bodies, weapons, etc.

Several of the guards set up a chain of buckets and try to put out some of the smaller fires. Some they let burn… no point in saving the charcoal ruins now._

Lads! See if ya can find any of the Council Members! We need an emergency meetin' right away. Go check the Council building and look under the beds!

You four! pointing to several Militia Men see if ya can use some of the lumber behind the Craftin' Hall and make some temporary gates.

He then instructs a few more guards to run to his farm east of town and bring whatever ale and food they can find for the few remaining townsfolk.

If any o you folks'd rather head east and camp out on me property, or go south to Norwick, we have plenty o food there…and shelter...take yer women and children. Might be safer than stayin here with this stench o death. Who knows if they'll be back....

  • _The burning stench of human flesh fills the air. Familiar bodiless faces stare from pikes as they line the main road into Jiyyd.

The gates lie in a splintered heap smoldering under the effects of some spell.

The bodies of huge orcs lies with Jiyyd guards, commoners, farmers, and beasts.

The dirt is red with blood and death looms everywhere.

The orcs had enough of the legion training missions and tried diplomacy. Their attempt at negotiation was met with violence. So the beasts responded the only way they knew how. Violence!

Buildings lie in disrepair, the dead line the streets.

And as if to send a message as how to who is responsible for it, a legion colored helm sits impaled at the front gates a large bloody red hand stamped across its face.

It seems the orcs have had enough of the cullings of their women and young.

Jiyyd seems a bit emptier, are some women missing? Can't be. But the gates surely are, and that is not good for its citizens as the darkness falls.

The smoldering fires set by the orcs making the shadows of death dance across the buildings and campfire.

Suddenly, those walls do not seem so tall and the guards so big.

Best go inside and lock the doors at dark._

  • _A strange propaganda flyer was found on the ground of Jiyyd by a group of adventurers by the fire apparently coming from the Mechanists. Not long after, a suspicious looking gnome was seen lurking near the adventurers.

The gnome was addressed as "Harry" by one of the adventurer, Zoma, who seems to be familiar with him. The conversation made between the pair was very quiet and ended in the gnome handing several sphere-like objects to Zoma.

As soon as the exchange was made, strange looking like machines known as the Mechanists crashed through the gates of Jiyyd and began their assault, in particular directed at the gnome. Swords and hammers are almost useless against them, but the sphere-like object given to Zoma when thrown at them gave out white blinding flash of light which were strangely effective against those constructs, instantly turning their parts into dusts.

As soon as the battle was over, the gnome hastily made his retreat in order to prevent attracting anymore mechanists into town.

More questions are raised to those who are concerned as soon as the news spread across the town. Who was the gnome by the name of "Harry"? What were those sphere-like objects given by him? Why did the Mechanists attacked him? Who and what are the mechanists?_

  • The farmers talk around their drinks at the inn of the poor luck of one of their number who sadly had his best cow killed and partially eaten, apparently by a marauding Hobgoblin on his farm East of Jiyd. It's said he found his prize cow hacked to death by a Hobgoblin handaxe, which was left at the scene. The poor man, distraught by this turn of bad luck has now sold his farm, paid his debts, packed his things and moved on…

((Thanks again to DM Hector for an awesome solo event!))

  • Rumor spreads through jiyyd that from some force outside of her control, has caused Elridith the Elf flip on two of her close friend during a two on one duel. Ramona and Aris (Alexi), both stood witness to the horrible event that took place in the jiyyd inn. during a duel inside the pit, a local drunk waltz in and was killed by a spell cast by the wizard Elridith. This drunk must have been in good standing with the rest of the patrons because they all decided to join in and attack El. Elridith at this point lost control of herself and put down half the Bar. Aris and Ramona set about to get everyone raised and then it was said chased after her with Jeni from the Gypsie camp. No one knows where they have gone to, but much of the town is in Shock and out rage about El actions.

  • Tala finds Penny and Dwin and offers some of the next round of hatchlings. Pulling a long face she looks to Dwin, "If i raise them to sell to you there will be less for frying this year."

  • "It is well known that Peltarch Defender soldiers and officers now and then visits, and stays at the fine Inn, Jiyyd. However, lately a new rumor circulates around theese soldiers and military men and women. At a somewhat improvised event at the newly added fighting ring of the Inn of Jiyyd, it was said that only three of the Peltarch Defenders completely, utterly and devestatingly trashed no more than five opponents belonging to the Black Sails faction. Even though hoplessly outnumbered, the sheer skill and discipline of the military detachment defeated their opponents. The rumor quickly travels to Peltarch istelf, where commoners appreciativly speak of the soldiers in question. However, due to an act of mercy, rumors say, the Peltarch soldiers agreed to a rematch in the much larger arena of the Lucky Ferret Inn in Peltarch."

  • Word spreads that Penny is looking to purchase a flock of chickens, and one rooster, for Dwin's farm on the east road between Ormpur and Jiyyd.

  • Scratches his head a bit

So those dual-axe wielders that slammed up against the city, after thier drunken drumming revel, were just…figments of our immagination. I believe the Orcs have had a bit too much brew and are forgetting the fact that even thier own aren't fully keeping to a treaty.

Treaties work for short time peace. This thing was just waiting to be snapped
