Gathering those that are Preparing for the Dracolich

  • The temple of the Triad wouldst be beholden to the same oath bonds as the Order chancellor, with regards the situation outlined. However…If tis as thou say, that there hath been no talks with the fell yuan-ti to coordinate this attack, then I can see no issue of our knights aiding in the battle.
I shall let Sir Shannon as head of our Order bring final decision on this matter however. I wouldst see our knights at the fore of this battle. Yet we were lead to believe that the yuan-ti had been coordinated with in this plan, if they are but another foe on the field of battle that is another matter. Yet we must be sure of this.

  • The question of healing and potions is a good one… MIght Daisy... or one of the high priests give us some healing blessings or other assistance?

Do any of our military organizations have a store of potions that we might be able to purchase at discount prices?

((any chance of getting a DM to sell some discounted potions ahead of time?))

  • Clay looks to the blue and gold clad knight, and probably looks quite unimpressive in comparison. His olivedrab and gray leathers a bit dirty and weathered, and his red hair pulled lazily back into a tangled ponytail, exposing his slightly pointed ears.

"I fully understand your position. But if I am hearing correctly, we have no say over when the Yuan-ti attack. I'm sure most of us, myself included, would much rather have the Order by our side instead of the lizards, and would choose not to side with them."

He rubs his stubbly face once more, the scratching quite audible

"However, I don't believe anyone -has- an alliance, or anything to renounce with the Yuan-ti. They have merely stated when they plan to attack. If nothing else, I would choose to attack on the same day as them if only to ensure that the mass of their force is focused on the dracolich. I know nothing of the Yuan-ti. They very well -could- attack our gates while we're away at battle. But wouldn't that give even more reason to leave our gates on the day when the majority of them will be too busy to attack?"

He offers a smile over to Dondiah as she approaches and listens carefully as she says her piece… he seems much more attentive than usual for some reason.

"I won't lie. I think the worst is going to happen. I don't want it to, but every fiber of well-being in my mind, and my body is telling me to say to hell with it, pick up camp, and leave Norwick and the Rawlinswood behind."

He glances from person to person, silently before his eyes end on Dondiah who is consoling Cara near him. They linger there for a moment before he seems to sigh a bit looking back to the group.

"But I won't. My heart won't let me. I won't run away while people I care about are fighting it. But make no mistake, I'm not fighting for Norwick, not for Narfell. I'm fighting for their survival, and then my own."

He shrugs, looks to Mariston again.

"I mean no offense. As I said, I think it's suicide without the Order by our side. You're trained and blessed in the arts of healing, battling undead, and destroying evil. The problem being that we have no control over the Yuan-ti, and can therefore not just -tell- them not to attack. They are acting on their own accord, it seems."

  • Dondiah, who was out doing gods know what as usual, comes in time to see Cara crying and everyone arguing about what to do with the lich situation. She starts a little at the rabble, golden brows raised, before quietly walks over to put a comforting arm around the upset Cara and speaks gently to the surrounding gathering, if they will listen

    Heavens above and worlds below…

Clearly when a discussion is like this it's time to take control of things at another time or place because things seem to be out of hand here, friends.

In order to not make this a suicide mission She gives a smile to Clay can't we all agree to quickly elect a few trustworthy and strategy experienced leaders to represent us and discuss this in a private room and come up with a detailed plan? Perhaps the Chancellor of Norwick can convene with these leaders and relay the plan back to the rest of us. I've known many of you for many years and though I've only recently returned I'm willing to fight or help in some way. I think most feel the same.

  • ::Mariston looks thoughtful as he considers all he has heard::

At present there seems the point of contention that the yuan-ti bring to this, it hath affected all my thoughts on the matter, both in this chamber and those of the Senate.
I realise the Dracolich is the immediate threat, but do not turn your back on a foe, a powerful one at that.
The yuan-ti in there time hath slaughtered an entire village of elves as they moved to the lands to the south, enslaved many of a race to use in their dark machinations. Think of where they art situated and how through all that hath occurred they remain strong as ever and insinuated into your thoughts. Thou feel that without them thou cannot prevail, they plant these seeds of doubt into your thoughts, whispering in these dark times of doom and destruction.
I used to live in Norwick many years past and I know its people art stronger and better than to listen to such whispers in the darkness, do not turn from the gods whom hath aided they in the past to support those dark creatures that hath rained ruination upon the peoples of this land.
With faith and steel this dracolich can be defeated, like other threats we hath faced before.

The Order will stand with thee if the yuan-ti art renounced and with us our gods at our sides.

//usual stuff paladin aura + cha when in the meet of ~ 24

  • Cara, sitting near Clayton, watching quietly as well, spits her view:

I'm in for the fight…But death is finally becoming real to me,personally. After what happened at the gate...hell, we might as well waltz in butt ass naked screamin, "put it in here Draco!" But this is Norwick...I've seen the shittiest things happen, and some of the most spectacular things only gods dream of. I'm not a Warrior, but I am someone with a conscience. And to Not say, ' fuck it, we're not losing' is the most Heresy I've heard all evening. I'm prepared to face any consequences for my words, But I hope they are heard.

By now she's in tears, sitting, clanking in her Mail Suit

  • Clay, who has been sitting on a table in the great hall, listening to the back and forths between the group finally speaks up. His tone is normal, if a bit inquisitive.

"We're going up against an undead dragon, who happens to be a lich. We've got to tear through who knows how many extremely powerful undead to get to it. Some, if not all, of the most powerful clerics and paladins in our lands… those who are trained and gifted with the abilities to heal, and smite evil and undead alike... may not be able to lend us their aid. Our mobile artillery... He points at Ronan will not be there to help. We don't know -shite- of what we're up against, and if at least half the team is like me, they're too damn poor to buy healing potions, and there's a good chance they won't even be able to pierce the beast's hide."

He rubs his forehead, not annoyed, but more frustrated than anything else.

"Tell me again how this isn't a suicide mission?"

  • "Ooo. Gravy. Lunch time!"

After an enrapt period spent observing the heroic toing and froing among the Norwickian gathering, Perriwig saunters off to sample more of the toothsome local fare, clearly still not recognising that the real gravity of the sundry adventurers' discussions…

  • Legion

Benji seems like he's getting annoyed

    @e112005654=JerrickRafe:

I think you misunderstand TO Adrian Built into the mortar and stone. In essence, it IS the Phylactery, if I understood the divine phrasing.

    THE TOWER -IS- THE PHYLACTERY.

    TOPPLE THE FARKING TOWER.

PUMP ETERNAL REST BOLTS INTO THE DRAGON UNTIL IT DIES.

    THE REST IS FARKING GRAVY!

  • Wog, dressed in his Kelemvor robes smiles to those gathered

"The temple of the Judge opens its gates for the fallback, for those who wish to be protected agasint the undeath that could spew out of Dun Tharros. THe ground is sacred agasint the abominations, and the doomguides are the most talented at fighting the undead.

Myself, as a representitive of the temple will provide arrows of eternal rest, it will give our archers a significant force on the feild. I will distrabute them to the Leigon in most, and they will share them out how they see fit. I will also pass some along to those amongst the druid who use bows. If any others wish some, come find me sharpish."

  • "This is not a meeting of who is coming and who isnt…

We came to a big point a few moments ago, and then failed to speak any more of it..

Peltarchs senator raised the point that we need to destory the phylactery before all else or it will regenerat itself.

Is it possiable to scry for its position? Or find any way to hint at its position?

Perhaps ask the Yaun Ti to share their infomaiton, they are far more devious and cunning than us, perhaps they know of its location. Someone should be sent out to contact them"

  • I can request a sum of arrows from the temple to help aid both the attacking and defending parties.

Ronan, does Peltarch intend to lend soldiers in the defense of Norwick while the offensive takes place?

  • Ihave one futher queston? Would the temple of Kelemvor, or other temples be able to help by providing missiles of eternal rest? Many defenders will otherwise be unable to harm many of the undead if some of the dragons hordes return while others are out assaulting the lost city.

  • The Halfling Defence League

_Dietrick enters the meeting place wherever it is, greets the crowd with a nod and says:

"Dietrick , representing the silver valley will go! Destroying da dracolich is da only way to keep our towns safe!"

After which he stands at the side , not participating in the arguments._

  • It will be weakened but not destroyed.

Ronan says in response to Albryanna's question..

You will still need to destroy the body in order to completely defeat the dracolich. Destroying the phylactery will prevent it from regenerating and make it much easier to kill.

  • Glances to Ronan.

Am I wrong in stating that the dracolich will be weakened with the destruction of its phylactery?

    Looks back to Val.

And if Ronan cannot accompany us at least that far, we still have Aram.

  • Sorry to disagree there Albryanna, but if this is anything like other Liches are, destroying the Phylactery won't harm the Dracolich at all. It will destroy his soul, but his body will be just as strong.

Ronan also said he won't be joining us, so I'm not sure how his ability to detect it will help.

  • After taking Ronan aside to speak with him quietly in the back, Albry makes her way towards the front beside Dwin. She then proceeds to answer Val's questions.

Concerning distance, I personally do not remember, though I'm sure someone else does.

You saw the enemy at our gates. Expect the same, if not more, in many greater numbers. I will not risk my Scouts being caught on a recon. All we can do is prepare for the worst.

Jerrick is figuring out what the Yuan-Ti are planning as we speak. Or attempting to, at least.

The tower will more than likely be the most heavily guarded one. If anything, I'm sure Ronan will be able to detect the tower with the most energy radiating from it.

Our backup plan will have to be falling back to the Dwarven Hold, if not as far as the Legion tower to regroup and replenish forces.

Once and if the phylactery is destroyed, we will have to find a way to hold it before it has a chance to flee, as it will be nearly powerless. At least to my understanding.

Getting out won't be a problem.

    Any other questions?

  • Excellent questions indeed… I fear already that the answer to some will be "we dont know." Prove me wrong!

I, too, agree with the evacuation. The Dwarven Hold should also be considered as a fallback position. Koirin and the Council or Moradin agreed to let women and children be evacuated there, and we have many fine warriors that can help defend as well.

  • After listening to the banter for some time, Val clears her throat and speaks clearly.

I have a few questions… probably basic ones to some of you, but not everyone here knows the answers.

How far is it to the Lost City? I've not been there, and I have no idea what to expect on the way there.

Do we know what forces are arrayed against us? Numbers, type, strengths, weaknesses, position, and so on?

Do we know what part the Yuan-ti are going to be playing in this? It's hard to trust an ally who acts in secret.

Do we know which one of the towers in the Lost City is the Dracolich's phylactery? From what I hear, there are many towers.

What is our backup plan, if we fail? Based on the forces we've seen so far, that is a very real possibility.

Assuming we do manage to destroy the Dracolich's phylactery, how do we plan on destroying his body?

IF we succeed, how are we getting out of an obviously hostile location when we've probably expended everything we have, and have wounded and dead with us?

These are the sorts of things we need to work out, if we're to have any chance of success.
