Tavern Rumors of Peltarch

  • Bianca Yelitsar, Paladin of Torm, and her adventuring group "The Thornless Rose" are can be seen staying at The Dancing Mermaid. The group consists of a Priest of Torm, a quiet wizard, a swashbuckling fencer who seems to follow Lathander and a stalwart warrior of Tyr. They mostly keep to themselves, for now at least.

  • Jubilant, extremely pleased guardsmen carefully remove a crate from the warehouse and hustle it off under heavy guard.

  • @28bd2be72b=Lagermane:

Many, many guardsmen suddenly move through the dock quarter, surround the Black Sails warehouse, and kick in the doors.

Yana keeps curious eyes at a distance

Senator Ronan stands outside the warehouse, apparently having gone with the guards. He does not go in however, seemingly just waiting outside for whatever news the guards bring.

  • _Syclya has been seen of late in and around the city of a Peltarch, unusually taking some time away from Norwick and the temple there. She's been seen wandering the residential district, often stopping to look at a house or stop to talk with the odd commoner here and there.

When she is not here, she seems to be taking up her old work at the Temple of the Triad helping Daisy where she can and praying often before the statue of Torm.

Strangely, she has also been seen arriving at the dockyards with a heavily burdened sled which she pulls to the craft hall. The sounds of metal being hammered and shaped can be heard wafting through the half opened windows of the hall.

She will usually spend the night in the city, only rarely returning to Norwick for rest. When she does head South, which is often, she usually returns a few days later with a new sled of ore._

  • A man dressed in fancy looking leathers walks past the brewery in the dead of night. He stops and faces the brewery, then lets out a wolf like "Nnnnoooooooooooo!" that chillingly echoes through the night. Then he laughs a lot and walks off in the direction of the docks.

  • A small but successful brewery in the civic quarter burned to the ground in a midnight fire. It's said that at least one guardsman perished trying to save people from the flames.

  • Reports come in from the seafarers guild about a courier lad who has gone missing. He was last seen leaving the warehouse after work. The night shift guards report seeing a man leave out of the west gate later in the night with a shovel in his hand.

  • Having returned from another seagoing trip across the Icelace with assembled heroic saurials, other gnomes, elves, Lathandrites - sometime private Peltarchian gentleman Perriwig P. Doubleday is full of tales of raiding haunted villages, stuffed full of mummy lawyers and toilet paper golem clerks of court, waving writs and uttering ghoulish threats to litigate and sue those trespassing on their property. After a brief juridical scuffle, Perriwig relates how the group thoroughly overcame the undead litigators' legal arguments with the blunt force of their reasoning. It is understood leave to appeal has not been granted. Requiescat in pace.

  • Rumour swirls around the city of an attack by demons in the Dancing Mermaid, and the death of at least one local, despite the best efforts of a mystery man. The guards were very quick to clean the scene up afterwards, and are doing their best to keep things quiet.

  • Apparently Lady Cassandra Je'laan has been waylaid and robbed by the infamous highwaygoblin FitzSqee for the third time, and has posted a reward of 9,000 gold pieces for his capture, dead or alive.

  • Rumors start spreading that a prostitute had found a corpse from the docks district. Some people are talking how they had heard from friend of their friend that the corpse was somehow mutilated, claiming it to be some soon to be serial killer that everybody should be wary of. Others put their bets on lone Kuo Toas getting up from water taking down lone persons. Most just shrug that off though and consider that someone must have had on wrong side of things with wrong person.

  • Eluriel walks through Peltarch in consternation.

  • Nicahh has been seen around Peltarch quite often as of late. Often times she is seen working at the soup kitchen along with three children, the youngest boy a bit on the rolly polly side, it obvious who his father is. When not in Peltarch, her horse is packed with packages of veggies and such as she heads south. Her children do not accompany her wherever she is going.

  • A rather… unusual sight greeted those in the Dancing Mermaid, of a hin with goggles buying drinks for people, sitting to listen to their stories. A bard looking for tales, or perhaps something more interesting? Could it be a detective?

  • It seems Mariston has a young guest staying at his home, as he buys in supplies for a baby.

  • A most unusual vision was seen withing the Dancing Mermaid. Ghosts of people dead near 30 years were reported to have walked into the inn during the middle of the night. One ghost a recognized hero and betrayer of Narfell during her lifetime, Kara Du'Monte. The other ghost was one of her N'Jast officers. It is said the ghost stood unaware of those in their surroundings with included Nicahh, Brynden and a whole host of bar maids. Instead the ghosts stood discussing the battle plans as if replaying a scene from history long passed.

  • Every tenth night, the Oscuran Noble Ferdinand Locke is seen renting a private room at the Dancing Mermaid Inn. During his stay in Peltarch he is known to frequent the bath house as well as the local shops. During any trials or court procedures he will also visit in and watch any which are open to the public.

Some of them may or may not become new citizens. Some use the gold to return to their families or homeland. Some try to get as far away from the place that enslaved them as possible. Some may remain to become citizens of Peltarch… either way, it was their choice to make and none other's, thus the gift of freedom.

// for sure. Marty is just making sure none of them experience "freedom shock", spend all their money on booze and whores and then end up on the streets.

The Wine and Ale Merchant's Union and the Courtesans' Guild strongly protest Senator Leaffall's actions as un-Peltarchian restraint of trade. Incidentally the Union is pleased to offer a 5-copper discount to anyone newly freed from bondage on gallon mini-kegs of gin, and the Courtesans' Guild is offering a buy-2-get-1-free special for any newly emancipated individuals who lack communicable diseases.

Like bees after honey, Grak is buzzing around the newly freed people. His well-used club is sticking from his pocket
"Dem slavery, eh? Grak dinks dat ya poor gits may nots wunt dat ta happen again, eh? Grak bes bit worrieds dat ya bes still weak und easily overwhelmed by thugs und crooks again. But ya gits bes lucky; Grak bes strong und with sum amount of coin, coulds look after ya bunch fer a while.. if ya pays half of dem amounts dem Trickster-senator gave ya..otherwise vermin bes switfly after ya again.."

Tries to imitate caring and worried look, should ex-slaves should approach him about the offer

The triksy senator casually mentions to the freed slaves:

Dont listen to this half-orc. He's an idiot.. Do let the guards know if he tries to assault or rob you. He'll be promptly thrown in jail.
