Tavern Rumors of Peltarch

  • _Val, ever the bard around the realm, drops by the docks and puts on an impromptu performance involving singing, various instruments, and a light show, in the hopes of giving the people with nothing better to do, SOMETHING better to do, rather than riot.

She does this every night, schedule permitting.

Afterwards, she drops by the soup kitchen and offers a hand, trying to show the people there that there are some who care for them, despite what naysayers would have them believe._

    // Taking 10 on perform, for a 57 result.

  • Perhaps to the surprise of many, Adrian arrives at the barricade even while the Senate's meeting is still underway. He does his best to keep morale up in the guard, and to calm tempers with the guildsfolk.
"The Senate voted in favor of the trade, and it will not take this away again, regardless of what a few high-headed may claim or try. The people of Peltarch have decided in favor of this growth, and their opinions and wishes -will- be respected."

  • @affee8d8fd=Caoimh:

News spreads abruptly from City Hall that the Senate is once again heatedly debating a new proposal to ban all trade with the city of Oscura. The docks immediately erupt into disorder and chaos, with the beleaguered Guard stationed there unprepared for the sudden surge of anger from the Guildspeople. Fortunately for residents of the Commerce District, Captain Velhar is quick to establish a roadblock on the main street from the docks, succeeding thus far in preventing the tide of dissent from spreading throughout the city.

Yana mutters a few choice Uthgardt obscenities directed at the Senate, while doing her best to quell the riot without killing anyone.

  • Watchtower of Old

_Atop the hill to the south of Peltarch, once stood a fine watch tower. Protecting the city from the barbarians in the pass. These days it is barely more than a ruin - broken to pieces, and so on.

    Is it?

An excitable halfling Waukeenar says she saw the tower intact just the other day. She claims to have spotted a human, a dark haired woman atop the tower, cape flowing in the wind, staring towards Peltarch, as if she was inspecting the town. She claims that it seemed odd to her that someone atop a watchtower would stare in the wrong direction - almost as if watching for some criminals to emerge from the city itself.

However, when asked about showing someone this strange sight, the Waukeenar declines even generous sums and directs them towards a certain Miss Blonde that apparently seemed involved with the whole issue. If given a few coins, she even suggests to use spells like See Invisibility, or True Seeing to find that very Miss Blonde._

"She's easily scared, she is. Really skittish. And didn't buy anything, either!"

  • The body of a young Selunite priest known to some as Bartholomew was found dead in the Bottleneck apartments. It appears as if he choked to death or suffocated somehow. His body was found by a resident and reported to the guard.

  • Rumors of late go around that Aelthas has been spending time with female hin prostitutes, he's been spotted even taking them out to dinner at the Mermaid and having a particular one over to his house some mornings, after his wife goes off to work.

  • _Senator Ronan is seen rushing to the residental district at full gallop on horseback, despite it being frowned upon that horses shouldn't be ridden in the city. The senator stops at a certain house, and rushes in.

After about half an hour, he is seen leaving the home, looking highly relieved. Whatever caused the usually calm and confident mage to have such fear in his eyes, is anyone's guess._

  • Ghostly apparitions, this time in the shape of Marcus Ash and a score of guards, appeared near the commons recently. Fighting an unseen foe and cursing N'Jast, the call came to fall back to city hall before the vision faded. The fall of the Commerce district, replayed?

  • Noticibly less pleased is the Black Sails captain, Sabre Seesaw. With a few terse orders to the crew and a hard look at the senator, she leaves in the direction of the residential district.

  • Bianca Yelitsar, Paladin of Torm, and her adventuring group "The Thornless Rose" are can be seen staying at The Dancing Mermaid. The group consists of a Priest of Torm, a quiet wizard, a swashbuckling fencer who seems to follow Lathander and a stalwart warrior of Tyr. They mostly keep to themselves, for now at least.

  • Jubilant, extremely pleased guardsmen carefully remove a crate from the warehouse and hustle it off under heavy guard.

  • @28bd2be72b=Lagermane:

Many, many guardsmen suddenly move through the dock quarter, surround the Black Sails warehouse, and kick in the doors.

Yana keeps curious eyes at a distance

Senator Ronan stands outside the warehouse, apparently having gone with the guards. He does not go in however, seemingly just waiting outside for whatever news the guards bring.

  • _Syclya has been seen of late in and around the city of a Peltarch, unusually taking some time away from Norwick and the temple there. She's been seen wandering the residential district, often stopping to look at a house or stop to talk with the odd commoner here and there.

When she is not here, she seems to be taking up her old work at the Temple of the Triad helping Daisy where she can and praying often before the statue of Torm.

Strangely, she has also been seen arriving at the dockyards with a heavily burdened sled which she pulls to the craft hall. The sounds of metal being hammered and shaped can be heard wafting through the half opened windows of the hall.

She will usually spend the night in the city, only rarely returning to Norwick for rest. When she does head South, which is often, she usually returns a few days later with a new sled of ore._

  • A man dressed in fancy looking leathers walks past the brewery in the dead of night. He stops and faces the brewery, then lets out a wolf like "Nnnnoooooooooooo!" that chillingly echoes through the night. Then he laughs a lot and walks off in the direction of the docks.

  • A small but successful brewery in the civic quarter burned to the ground in a midnight fire. It's said that at least one guardsman perished trying to save people from the flames.

  • Reports come in from the seafarers guild about a courier lad who has gone missing. He was last seen leaving the warehouse after work. The night shift guards report seeing a man leave out of the west gate later in the night with a shovel in his hand.

  • Having returned from another seagoing trip across the Icelace with assembled heroic saurials, other gnomes, elves, Lathandrites - sometime private Peltarchian gentleman Perriwig P. Doubleday is full of tales of raiding haunted villages, stuffed full of mummy lawyers and toilet paper golem clerks of court, waving writs and uttering ghoulish threats to litigate and sue those trespassing on their property. After a brief juridical scuffle, Perriwig relates how the group thoroughly overcame the undead litigators' legal arguments with the blunt force of their reasoning. It is understood leave to appeal has not been granted. Requiescat in pace.
