Crop Circles

  • The Halfling Defence League

    There’s a somewhat loud yawn from a nearby tree, and sounds of something moving around in the branches, after a small while Miea climbs down out of the tree, Looking at those gathered she asks sleepily.

    What's happening?

    Zeff pads up beside her and she ruffles his fur looking to the group.

  • To Dwin

    Aye, thanks old friend.

    When I first heard about the lights, the crop circles, and the blight, one of the first things that popped inta me head was that somethin' unnatural was "planted" here and was growin'. But we checked under the surface and that doesn't seem ta be the case.

    Since then, Miss Telli, the farmers motions to his fellow farmers gathered around, and I have been workin' on this blight problem for a few weeks, but everything we do seems to only last a few hours.

    I'm pretty sure we've figured out the right order and combination of blessings to get rid of the blight once and for all.

    ((Waits for Chaos Nymph to reply with the results of the remove curse before proceeding with the next round of blessings.))

    ((P.S. I'm going out of town for the weekend and will be back Sunday night. I won't be IG at all, but I think I'll have access to Internet. If I do, I'll continue to post. I've already PMed CN, Telli, and Cal so they know the plan.))

  • Once Dwin sees the defensive stances of those around him, he too pulls his shield up to his eyes and beckons for the red cloaks to stand, meat-shield style, in front of him.

  • :: Kalith backs up and stands behind and to the left of Dwin and having tucked the spade in his belt and begins readying his shield::

  • Jerrick watches impassively, and shrugs, resuming his work on the prayer, and focusing his thoughts as he did before, when fighting the taint in the Rawlins, which when fueled with prayer with other people, actually affected the grounds they focused on, and purged the taint in those areas.

    If this situation proves to be like others, he is ready for things to burst forth from the ground, scimitar loose in it's sheath.
    The Large direwolf that tends to accompany him about stands behind him and the group, watching idly, ears twitching about as he stands guard over his companion.

  • *Dwin blinks a few times and rubs his forehead.

    Z, ya thought this through, aye? Yer as good a farmer as anyone I have ever met, so I trust ya on matters like this.

    Just think twice before ya do anything… we've had lots of problems lately--not like I have to tell you that--and we dont need any more.

    Kalith here always has good advice, I recommend ya listen to each others thoughts on this. Two hammers are better than one, eh?

    Dwin steps back to what he assumes is a "safe" distance should anything ugly happen.

  • @bd783f81e7=Speedy_Z_:

    @bd783f81e7=Salsadoom:

    Lord Dolvak, I have just arrived to survey the damage and collected a few samples for Calendel taking appropriate precautions and had hoped to see if anything lay beneath the ground at the center.

    ((Calendel is standing there. He's one of the casters working with Z.))

    Z gives a quick, apologetic nod to Dwin and seems to relax a bit when Dwin ((and, apparently, Cal)) recognizes the man.

    ( I was just waiting for Cal to respond 🙂 )

  • Telli bobs back and forth oblivious to any imposing threat that might be upon them all

  • @7f88b3639b=Salsadoom:

  • _The man watches impassively as the casters prepare, seemingly taking in their words and movements. He doesn't seem to react to Jerrick's veiled threat but seems to react quickly to Dwin's approach giving a nod respectfully to Lord Dolvak and gesturing towards towards the assembled casters/i]

    :gestures towards the casters::

    It seems they are preparing some sort of druidic magic I am unfamiliar with. Hopefully it will be more effective then I think. It is odd the affliction only affects crops, nothing else. I don't think they have considered the implications._

  • ((Not sure if Z can respond, but after the remove curse is cast…))

    Nods politely Aye, we already checked below the surface and we didn't find anything unusual down there. ((That was part of my PM to CN)).

    If you want, you kin check out the other crop circle, over yonder, points and take more samples. But, we'd really like ta get this one taken care of.

  • _*…after an IG-appropriate amount of time, The Lord Chancellor shows up on the scene with a few of the farm-lads that had been sent off earlier. Dwin brings with him a half dozen red-cloaks.

    at a nod from Dwin, they fan out and surround the circle, carefully watching all of those in attendance. Dwin approaches the group, looking a bit tired and disheveled (one might think he was roused out of bed).

    As he looks around at the familiar faces, he stops as he comes to the man in Green and Black and approaches him with purpose.*_

    Kalith, glad you're here with Z. What do we have here anyway?

  • Jerrick prays to Meilikki first, and then to the rest of the Druidic Gods included, asking that they lend their aid to the balance upon these affected places. None are excluded in his prayer, not Malar, not Auril, not Talona, all good and evil Gods of the druidic nature are appealed to by Jerrick, and once finished with the initial part of his prayer, he raises his eyes to the black and green clad figure, and gestures at him.

    If you disturb this ritual in any way, or aggravate the taint here, I'll have you know I will gladly remove you from the area.

    He takes a good look at the man's features, noting them to memory, since by taking samples he may have something less than pleasant in mind, such as using them as a means to spread this blight later.

    He waits for a response from the man, no hand on any weapon, but obviously not playing around.

  • The man in Green and black gently coughs behind the prepping casters.

    Might I suggest digging at the center before you do what ever you are doing?

    ::holds a small spade up::

    You never know what magic will do.

  • @a65aae01f2=Salsadoom:

    (( yup, he is a banite. And he calculated the center himself not assuming you measured it exactly. And I assume you aren't standing in the exact center where he wants to dig))

    The man in Green and black nods politely to the people prepping their spelland then does his inspection of the center of the circle.

    ((We, actually, are standing around the center of the first crop circle.))

  • Nudges Z… if dis works Z... whats we can do ats da end is askededs Chauntea togeder if she'll makes da area arounds here "hallowed" ((level 5 spell)) too.... ta keeps da blight from returnings fer a WHOLE year!.... Course... I neva tried it afore... mights need yuh and Mr Cal's helps fer its.

    keeps humming focusing on the task at hand....

  • has a wreath around her neck with a rose at its base as she grips Z's hand whispering blessings to remove the curse from the area. (3 prepared for this day)

  • @b471ac5ddd=Tigrelily:

    after the prayer ends Telli shifts her eyes to Z and asks…...."So shoulds I usededs dats bugs blessings if a bunch a bugs and tings comes out.....or juss sticks ta yuh dream ta a 't'?

    No bugs, let's stick to the plan. Since it's daytime, there shouldn't be too many blight bugs around anyway.

    Besides, you're the senior priest here. I'm gonna need you ta lead the majority of the blessin's. Let's do remove curse…

    ((I'm not sure how group casting works in D&D, but that's what I'd like to do. If that's not an option, then we'll (Z, Telli, and Calendel) cast them individually.))

    @b471ac5ddd=Salsadoom:

    The man in green and black is seen collecting samples of affected crops and storing them in several sealed clay jars (lids are closed then waxed shut to form a perfect seal).

    Notices the man in green and black starting to collect samples. Z leans over to a couple of the local farm boys, whispers something to them, and sends them running off towards town.

    ((By saying "green and black" you're inplying he's a Banite. Does he look like a Banite (symbols, hidden features, stranger to town, bad teeth, B.O., etc.) or just some normal guy who likes green and black?))

    @b471ac5ddd=Salsadoom:

    He then tries to formulate where the exact center is of any circle. Heading to the center he inspects the ground and if finding nothing odd digs a 1 foot diameter hole by 1 foot deep to see if anything is buried there collecting anything odd in sealed clay jars.

    ((Z, Telli, and Calendel are already IN the center.))

    To Telli and Cal Let's get started…

    Begins casting remove curse

    'Anyone reporting any odd affects should report immediately to the healers'

    Dietrick looks at the man curiously, waiting and watching to see if the man gets pricked to death by the sharp thorny plants, overwhelmed by the strange insects or some otherwise random way of death from the fey menace.
