Announcement: Census
-
The priest nods as he listens to Marty, ever so patient, replying to her questions once she's done
"If you are familiar with the "Big Book of Gods", then I am certain you can recite the dogma of Siamorphe in fuller detail than that; Nobles are given a divine right to rule, provided they rule responsibly and well. The nobility have an obligation (noblesse oblige) to rule with the best interest of their subjects in mind, even when those obligations interfere with their personal desires.
We will be leaving once the census is done. We will not be selecting anyone to rule over you. We are here only to bring truth into claims, instead of rumours spread by one faction or another."
While some of the people in line seem to be looking at their toes, considering their stance on this, others just seem eager to find out if they're noble or not. One hin behind Marty seems especially interested in this, and starts shoving her off.
"Go ramble elsewhere, Mad Marty! I want te be tested now."
-
Marty claps her hands in front of her quickly in exaggerated delight
OH! That is exiting! I wonder if I may be of noble blood?
she speaks loudly, half to the priest, half to the crowd
But… I happen to own a copy of the Big Book of Gods buddy. I recognize that holy symbol about your neck and I've read about what Siamorphean's believe... That those of "noble lineage" should rule over those who have "common blood".
You see, I don't think you really answered my question did you? Not fully. I mean, a "complete list" is nice I guess… But what are you going to do with that list? Select from it people to rule over us? From the very start Peltarch has chosen her own leaders! Yes, powerful magic has duped us into making some pretty poor choices, but they were still our choices.
Senators missing, martial law, and suddenly you lot appear to bestow your "blessing" on us? And what bothers me most is that you've not been up front about it! The compilation of this list of yours has been done in a sly manner. It would need to be done under the table as it has been I guess. Robbing us of our freedom to choose our own leaders couldn't be done in an up front manner could it?
to the crowd
Our leaders have never ruled over us thanks to their BLOOD. It has always been by their DEEDS! May it always be so!
She unfolds her census form and politely hands it in
There you go. Thankyou.
-
On a more jovial and less conspiracist note, a little ball of energy (commonly known as Merial) bounces eagerly in line, waving enthusiastically with a beaming smile at the priest when it comes her turn.
-
The priest smiles and responds calmly
"It's a blessing that detects any possible noble lineage you might have. The purpose is to compile a list of who is a descendant of a noble family, here in Peltarch."
Excited whispering goes around with those who hear the response. People seem pleased about it, and eager to see if they're the long lost bastard of a distant baron or not.

@65ae9261e8:
and Siamorphean clerics lay their hands on each person, speaking out a blessing.
when the priest goes to lay hands on Marty she recoils a bit
Woah there fella… Before you go speaking over me and touching me, I was hoping that you'd explain to everyone here what magic that is that your casting and why you are casting it.
-
Halflings line up with male gnomes, ready to sign the census form. Penty of gold goes missing in the line.
((Halflings and male gnomes this week.))
-
Dwarves form a straight line, groom their beards and go return their census forms:
((dwarves this week :))
-
Elves, both male and female, line up infront of the city hall, eager to confirm their citizenship.
((Elves this week, you can start posting))
-
At the end of the male humans time, Assistant Scribe ~Telric Greywood~ was seen, like most mornings prior, running around the docks informing people of the deadline and handing out census sheets for the workers. He was also seen going door-to-door at the richer parts of town organizing private census handling meetings for those who did not feel like lining up with the common man.
As the ladies turn came up, he was seen doing the very same thing each and every morning, though he was noticeably more well-groomed for the occasion then when he had to speak with the human males. Curious!
-
The female human populace starts lining up near the city hall.
((This week's for female humans. You can start posting :))
-
Notorious gentleman Jack Hands walks by the City Hall and, glancing at the line, mutters something about the government's sheep heading for slaughter, and how they'd never catch him in the System
-
As the tenday starts, male humans start lining up near the Herald. They leave their census form, and Siamorphean clerics lay their hands on each person, speaking out a blessing.
((please start posting the male human census forms in PMs :)))
-
((Other races.))

-
Morris Purcandel waddles into city hall balancing a stack of forms taller than himself and keg of ink strapped to his back.
-
As majority of Peltarch's populace is humans, most people just shake their heads at Marty. A single halforc grunts in approval however.
-
after reading one of the flyers, Marty makes the following comment to random people from time to time
Who decided the order? Human supremacist are alive and well by the look of it.
