// Character Name: Lina FettonA quiet eve in late Marpenoth she lie upon the forest floor looking up at the forest canopy above. Twilight grew near as the crackling embers of the fire seemed the only sound echo amoungst the numerous trees about. She turned her gaze to a falling leaf in the sky, carefully studying it as it danced upon the eve's breeze.
"So, tell me how you've come to end up here in Narefell?" inquired a nameless figure across the fire.
"humm" she muttered softly, "well 'uppose I could, but its nun too short a tale." she said with mixed accent.
"E'er since I were a small lass my family and I traveled amoung caravaners. I recall travlin as far east as Waterdeep and as far west to Mulhorand and many points between.
Upon arriving at most any town I recall my father disapearin' for a day or two. When he reappeared he showered us with many a gifts such as trinkets, fine clothes and books of great import. I especially liked to read the books, as there 'ere many of grand tales and adventures of heros of the past. My mum would break into a furious fit which didn't make any sense. But my father 'ere quite good to calm her down with a soothing tone and a charming grin. As a small lass I ne'er understood why my mum got so upset, and ne'er would she speak of it to me.
Then 'uppose I were around seven years of age we arri'ed at Ankhapur and again my father left us alone at the camp some ways from the city wall. Late that eve, much like now, I glanced at the gates and heard the soundin' of bells and a fuss of stirin'. Just as the gates were drawin' shut I saw someone dart beneath it and begin to scurry in our direction. He 'ere being chased by the guards and as he drew near I saw it 'ere my father. I got up to run toward him but my mum pulled me down and held me still. She tried to cover my gaze from him, but I managed to peak around her hand as they 'ere trembling. Not long after I had recognized who it 'ere i saw hm fell to the ground… with an arrow lodged square in his back. I could hear him scream out shortly before the sound of metal ended his voice.
I began to cry out in a fit of rage and sorrow, but my mum covered my mouth and put me inside the tent. I cried quietly until I heard the guards begin to talk to my mum. I ne'er did know what she say but some time later they let her be. I dunt think I slept a wink that night, as I were too full of greif of what I had just seen. Early the next morn we went off to ne'er return there again."
She pauses in silence for a while, finding another leaf to study as it falls from its branch high above. After a short spell she continues the tale.
"Along our journey my mum would ne'er say more than three words lest she 'ere forced to. I tried many 'a time to speak to her about anything 'tal, she just looked at me sorrowfully and withdrew to elsewhere. It 'ere quite lonely for me then, so I began to speak to others amoung our caravan.
One such was a monk named Tamian who followed the ways of Shaundakul. He taught me of his ways and showed me evidance of his work along our journey. I began to pray oft' to him and studied as much as I could with the few books we had concernin' him. Tamion became like a second father to me, and we shared many 'a fire looking out into the sky conversing quietly.
One spring morn' Tamion and I ventured a bit from camp to a gentle hill and we spoke our prayers aloud. While praying I began to feel a gentle breeze that grew and grew until I 'ere surrounded by a gusts of wind all around me. Then, suuddenly my feet left the ground and I began to float into the air. I looked over and Tamion too 'ere floating above the ground. I smiled to Tamion in wonder and he did so to. As I swam there in the I heard a faint voice upon the air. After a few moments of gleefully floating in the air we both returned to the ground, smileying widely at one another.
We returned to camp and started to grab a few supplies. My mum saw us and looked at me and she cracked a smile that I'd not seen since that horrible eve. I looked at her with sorrow slightly, hesitating for a moment. She continued to smile and patted me on my head. "Be good now 'ya hear." she said. With that I gave her a hug and joined Tamion as we left the caravan. Tamion and I traveled along the road, aiding those who were in need. The voice we had heard called us to this path and we followed it dutifully for many years."
She looks over to her silent audiance and notices his eyes beginning to sag. " 'uppose I won't tell you all about our travels... thats another tale of itself there. To make the tale shorter... eventually Tamion and I were... seperated and I found myself alone. I found my way to Damra alone and found a caravan to bless and join on the long road headed east. They were headed to the gypsy camp with a small supply of goods. So that.. I 'uppose is how I found myself in Narfell."
