**The time has come to tell you how
With sturdy jaw and furrowed brow
A man stands ‘tween us and evils clutch
A man who doesn’t ask for much

A single man holds back the dark
Defends us from each known wereshark
Protects from those who cannot fight
Arrests those who snore too loud at night

Without him we would cower here
    Trembling with untold fear
But he defends us, a man’s man
If he can’t help us, no-one can!

The criminals who stalk our streets
Who threaten Peltarchs lands and fleets
    Tread warily whene’er he’s near
    Afraid of his moronic sneer

    Each citizen who knows someone
Who knows someone who knows someone
Who once talked to an eastland child
Will be in jail, not running wild!

And worry not, distance no bar
He’ll arrest anyone, near or far
“Not heard of Peltarch? So you say!
A likely story! Step this way”

He carries around a sacred book
And no-one else can ever look
It is a book of Peltarch Law
And every day he adds two more.

    No-one around commiting crime?
Well that would be a waste of time!
It never slows down dearest Dentin
A few more laws he gets inventin’

“You stood and watched defenders fall?!
Come with me laddy, that’s a Treason call.
And those tears won’t wash with me!
What do I care you’re only three.”

    His dictionary, missing J
He reads a page of every day
No Justice or Jurisdiction, of course.
Today a new phrase: Necessary Force.

So cry out loud, each Peltarch waif
Cheer for the man who keeps us safe.
When it comes to crime he is no louse
So give it up for Dentin Strauss!**

  • Amy ponders over the poem awhile then chuckles tearing down one of the copys and stuffing it under her leathers gotta share that with ronan for sure grins

  • (((Posted in most of the usual places, though also in the more salubrious parts of town including on the gates of the Noble Family Estates)))

**I’ve a tale to tell of a woman so swell
A noble in red, so what’s swollen’s her head
A delusional tart with blue blood in her heart
Who believes she can act without kindness or tact.

It’s a perilous path for a sorcerous wench
To around peoples heads her power to clench
And yet any who know her could never deny
It’s the only sure way she’d get any guy

Not that I mean to implywith my rhyme
That she doesn’t have better to do with her time
Than one man, or two men, or three men or more
I’d never leave doubts that the woman’s a whore.

A slut and a harlot, a jezebel too
A tart of an order achieved by so few
And yet it can surely be said in these trills
That to hold any man is beyond all her skills

A few days here and a few days there
By crushing their wills, but is that hardly fair?
She’d never hang on by her looks and her wit
She doesn’t have either the brainless young chit.

The Hollowmoon family weeps in it’s cups
As their daughter cavorts, capers and tups
She thinks she’s so clever, devious and astute
One shudders to think she may think herself cute

Yet in politics as in any other arena
It’s not who you screw that determines your worth
It’s whether you gain from the fruits of your labour
Any more than your family weeping over your birth.

And so to dear Lucid we softly intone
Please consider your town, leave the strumpet alone
And Ronan, so handsome, we beg and we plead
This Rose is all thorns, she will make your heart bleed.

Leave the vile diseases that live twixt her legs,
Avoid her company no matter how she begs
Her powers are on what her future she pegs
For in societal circles she is truly the dregs.

The scum round the tub when you let out a bath
The crap that you trod in when walking a path
Make no mistake, she’s a worthless buffoon
This Rose who demeans the name of Hollowmoon.**

**And so at last we can rejoice!
You the People, made the choice
    But bureaucrats and Cheating scum
Delayed the day that now has come!
    Senella’s Reign begins this day!
    All and sundry shout Hooray!
A strike for goodly and wise rule
Good riddance to the Fisher Fool!

Waves of joy Break over you!
No longer fret! Do not be blue!
Rejoice as only the Jewel can
Shine forth each woman, and each man!
Each child knows that from this day
Food and warmth will come their way!
An Age of peace and plenty’s here
So everyone raise up a Cheer!

    Today we cheer Eowiel
Today we shout, today we yell!
Tomorrow all her hard work starts
It takes a lot to heal your hearts
To build your pride in this, our, Jewel
    Eowiel is no-ones fool
Tomorrow she will start her work
Take up the burden she’ll never shirk!

But for today, lift up your glass!
    For today, let worries pass!
Today let no-one wear a frown!
Wear Sunday best, suit and gown!
Come dance throughout the city now!
It’s time to party! Show me how!
Let all the work, tomorrow start
Today the city has new heart!**

  • A recent arrival to the city (that could almost pass for a younger, more handsome version of Deacon) sees the poems as walks through the city. He stops and talks to himself in a voice obviously meant for others to hear.

My brother told me that this city was called "bard-town" by some, but I had no idea what a pansy-garden it really was! Maybe I am in the wrong place…

**I walked the streets with my darling wife
    Wandering, Meandering
    Contemplating slandering.
    Dreaming up another rhyme
To bring to you another time.
    She indicated sewer grates
Being sealed up, far too late
And asked me what I thought.
I smiled and patted at her hand
And said they’re doing what they ought.

    T’was then I heard, incredulous
    Miraculously scandalous
    My darling, chuckled, tremulous.
To see an Ashald standing there
    A senator, young, dark hair
Standing like he owned the place
    Delicious smirk upon his face
As he denied their right to seek
The source of all those fiendish ghouls
That make my darling’s knees go weak.

Guards and defenders stood and glowered
    Glared, and angry glances shared
    Not believing that he dared.
The ghouls had taken many lives.
    Husbands, daughters, sons and wives.
Hardly a chore to let them look
With suppressed rage, my own heart shook
Now evil dwells in Ashald’s House
There never has been doubt of it
But e’en they must weep to claim this louse.

    Now overzealous defender types
    Are meal to my grist,
    And no, I’ll not enlist.
And you and I are smart enough
To know ghouls don’t freeze and no breath huff.
That sewers always have two ends
And to lake the cities waste descends.
But even if the search wastes time
The Senator should do his part.
Now Au’revoir, til my next rhyme.**

    The Shadow Poet

  • Ocean chuckles
"Aye, he'z nay verry gud, bu' yer haz ter admit he raiziz tempaz… Zo, Ad? Yer plannin ter retire zoon zo ah cun ha yer Mazta'z perzizhun?"

  • Ad reads over the poster commenting only

Mayhap the college ought to offer a new course on rhyme schemes and meter. No doubt we could offer parody and satire as part of the course.
Of course, no doubt it'd be interrupted by the defenders looking for their man …and finding a classful.

    shrugs Mayhap not, then.

  • Deacon can be seen sitting outside the Black Sail's warehouse, accompanied by a number of his crew, one of the posters in hand. Laughing and mocking the law-force of the city, he pays little kids to sing the text on the poster outloud to the crew, which only contributes to the laughter heard.

  • Tyal, who is not himself particularly lawful, copied the ballad onto a scroll and is heard about Peltarch working it into a simple tune. Tyal does not seem eager to meet this Shadow Poet, but does keep an eye and ear open for one who might be he.

  • Nathen Wingates burbles into a melodic, youthful fit of chuckles and snickers whilst he reads, holding unto his tummy with one hand and wiping tears of humor from his greenish blue eyes.

  • Lilly can be seen hand copying the poem and putting a new one up where the old one was pissed on.

  • A very weary looking Drelan smiles as he sees one of the poems. He then continues with his meetings and watch.

  • Olsen unzips his trousers and lets a long piss on the poem

I tip good poets and there's bards what can attest to that. This is pansy tripe in simple meter at best. Bugger Dentin all you like but at least get some talent first.

  • Some wonderful soul writes on one of the posters that if you join the defenders, you'll probably serve under Dentin

  • Emma Lavindo sees one of the posters as she is one her way to issue more equipment. She stops up and reads the poster with an emty expression before resuming her tasks, without giving a hint of what she thinks about the poem

  • Cyrian reads one of the posters and frowns, apparently not too happy that once again the organisation from which he is apart of is gartering a bad name because of certain members, he then goes on about his duties walking throughout the docks watching for anything suspicious

  • Linah sees the poster and reads it with a smile on her lips

HAHAHA! she laughs That reminds me of the time I was going to Norwick and their militia fought with ghouls! Didnt want to get involved. You know, aint to smart to sneak up on people fighting, waving swords all around and all. That captain of thiers, Milshot, was about to cut me in half cause of that, or send me to the slammer chuckles He was lucky I was in a good mood… walks away, whistling merrily

  • Senator Ashald reads one of the poems, pulls it down and walks off to the Seafarer Halls. Moments after entering, the laughter of several people can be heard from within. He walks out shortly after still laughing lightly and continues his walk around the docks.

  • Ocean see's this and snorts.

"Az if ennyun'd join ennythin' tha'd let Dentin be a memba. Mebbe if he wuz chuk'd out ricryutmunt'd go up."

With a chuckle she walks on.

  • Dentin returns in a few hours, and starts hanging the recruitment posters of the Defenders next to the poems, challenging those who claim to know it all to do better themselves.
