Day of the Dead

  • The Camp will be host to a Day of the Dead festival. There should be an archery contest, drinking, food and stories and maybe even songs! Anyone is welcome to share a story or song of friends or loved ones lost. Picnic with the spirits! So says Mojo! We hope to see you there. The spirits of the dead will be there too.

  • _A joyous occasion and tearful reunion. A day when the spirits of those tragically lost could laugh and drink once more among the living…

It is said the festival was marked by the presence of beloved Baba Katya and King Horgan. Comforting their old friends and family with kind words, and the notion that now was not a time for mourning, but for celebration. The celebration lasted night and day as bonfires were lit, songs were sung and stories told, with much drinking in between. For a time it was like the old days, the people forgot their worries and sorrows. A celebration of life in troubled times with uncertain future...

The archery contest was a display of such skill that all deserved praise. Yet only one could be named winner, and a small halfling's arrows struck truer then the rest...

Combat was dominated by a young Romani man, one of the very few who survived. None could best him whether by blade or by fist.

All to soon, the celebration had to come to an end. After saying their goodbyes, the spirits returned. Sad to see them leave, but thankful for the chance to see them once more. Those remaining begin cleaning up, and perhaps now the camp may finally move on.

Even so, there will always be next year..._
