Tonan Webber

  • Account Name: Lumenadducere
    Character Name: Tonan Webber

His parents members of a traveling minstrel group, Tonan was born into a life of constant traveling and danger. His parents, ill-equipped to handle a child and wanting a better life for their son, were on the constant search for a good home to leave Tonan in. The bard group's trail led them to Impresk Lake at the foot of the Snowflake Mountains. There, after performing and re-supplying at Carradoon, they found a small remote monastary near the shore of the lake. Upon entering they found a dwarven monk sitting on the ground meditating. Awaking from his trance, the dwarf introduced himself as Murod Laedon and went on to inform the group that he had just opened up the monastary in hopes of teaching others of the way of the White Cloud. Tonan's parents decided that the White Cloud monastary would be the best place for him, and, saying long and tearful farewells, left him at the age of four.

Tonan grew up with Murod and studied long and hard under his tutelage. During his teen years he traveled up to the Spirit Soaring in the mountains, the new cathedral built by Cadderly of the order of Deneir. It was there that Tonan learned of the outside world and of the many wonders it held. It was also there that Tonan was introduced to Deneir and his teachings of knowledge and protection. Tonan greatly admired these principals and chose to worship Deneir not as a priest or holy warrior, but in his own odd way as a White Cloud monk.

Upon reaching 20 years of age Murod told Tonan that in order to fully understand what it meant to be of the White Cloud, Tonan would have to go and apply his lessons in the outside world. It would be there that he faced his greatest challenges and learned to truly discipline himself and bring order inside his mind when all around him things seemed chaotic.

Tonan traveled back up to the Spirit Soaring one last time to learn as much as he could of the world outside. Finding that there was simply too much information, he decided to leave it up to fate. Taking a bag and filling it with different sized pebbles, he emptied it over a map. The settled area nearest to where the largest-sized pebble landed would be where Tonan went. It happened to be the land of Narfell.

Tonan is unused to people, and is quite shy. He is often afraid to approach others and ask them anything, preferring (and hoping) that they will notice him and come up to him. However, he is often torn between castigating himself for his shyness and wanting to walk away, and thus can often be found near other groups of people, inadvertantly listening in to their conversation while fighting an internal battle to decide what his actions involving that group should be. His discipline has not yet taught him to deal with rowdy adventurers, unfortunately.

  • Just wanted to make a note that if my "White Cloud" monk order doesn't work (since it isn't a real part of the Forgotten Realms world and I made it up), please simply replace it with one such as the Sun Soul, or any other good-aligned monk order. Thanks.
