Failure (The attack on the Glenn)
_As usual, he lay in the glenn, staring up at the trees. This is all he could do for now, due to his atonement quest. His animal companion was with him, sleeping next to him peacefully. Wolf smiled, patting the large creature on its belly, then laying back down and closing his eyes.
crack He sat up quickly, squinting around in the glenn. Seeing nothing, he slowly lay back down…. crack Another noise. His companion was growling, staring at the glenn entrance. Wolf knew something was coming and bit his lower lip. The companion charged the entrance and mauled the goblin assassin that was hiding behind one of the bushes. Wolf sighed in relief, thinking it was over. Another assassin, which the companion did not see, stabbed the creature in a crucial area. The large creature yelped and tried desperately to defend itself.
It was too weak... it couldnt fight. Blood flowed from the deadly wound that the assassin inflicted. The companion was going to die... But, Wolf thought otherwise. He picked up his sword, hesitantly, and charged the goblin. He fought it clumsily, since he had not fought for months. But, he found an opening and cut off one of the goblin's arms, then, as it screamed in pain, he cut off its head with one swift swing.
His companion lay on the floor, bleeding and dying. Wolf began to pray to Mielliki, hoping she would answer his prayer. He prayed for healing for his companion and it came. The animal companion breathed more easily as the wound closed.
Three more goblins came. They were soldiers. They probably heard the death cry of their comrade. Wolf and his companion fought them off easily. Wolf prayed to Miellikki again, for barkskin, and it did not come. He tried again on his companion, and it came, surrounding the companion in barkskin. He prayed for strength for his companion, and Mielliki granted it. Though, anything he tried on himself, the prayer was ignored. Wolf knew this might happen, since he has failed his atonement quest. Mielliki would only grant his prayers if they are targeted to others, but not himself....
He waited for more goblins to come, though none did. He left the glenn to find the normal goblins running about. The shorties screamed and ran from his large wolf companion. He made it to Norwick with ease.
"I have failed," he thought, not surprised all too much. It was a near impossible task for him. "How can I just let the goblins kill my friend? How can I let them destroy my home?" Questions like these ran through his mind...though, he was very dissapointed in himself._

One Year:
_Before the druid meeting, under the full moon, Fadia had asked to speak with him.
"I have thought of your quest for your atonement to Meilkki," she said. He was nervous to know what it was. He had no idea what it could be. "Yes?" He asked. Fadia continued, holding up one finger, "One year." Confused at this, he waited for her to speak in more detail. She continued, "For one year you will be an ascetic." Still confused, he asked what an "ascetic" was. "It means you cant speak, fight, or cast blessings for one year."
He was surprised at this…not expecting that at all. At fist, he thought he could never do that. Though, he wanted to forget the ways of Malar and would do anything to do so. He agreed, with some reluctance.
After the meeting, he lay in the glenn, staring up at the trees in thought. He had many thoughts and questions running through his mind... "What if the glenn is under attack? Do I just let the attackers destroy my home? What if I need to say something important and I cant communicate it unless I speak? What if they hurt one of my friends? I wont beable to heal them... What if they hurt Rai.." He sat up, cursing inside his mind. Now angry with himself for accepting this.
"I will fail," he thought to himself._

The Eastlander War: Through Wolf's Eyes
_He sat in the damp cave, waiting. All the men, which were called "soldiers," where hurrying around the cave, shouting orders and gathering supplies. Wolf fell asleep, even with the loud noises, because he had battled the day before against the eastlanders.
A rumbling woke him up (and maybe a rock hitting him on the head). He glanced about. Roaring could be heard outside the cave, where the trenches were. The cave continued to rumble and the roaring grew louder. He stood up, readying his gear, and headed toward the cave mouth, along with the other adventurers there.
What was seen was a large dragon, which he had guessed was Rass, and a pit fiend fighting in the cave mouth. He stood there, wide eyed, unable to run. He was fascinated by the battle and couldnt take his eyes away. The two monsters eventually took thier fight outside, which gave the Defenders a chance to attack the Eastlanders without Rass interfering.
So, the soldiers and adventurers prepared. The leader of the army, Wolf thought, began to shout loudly "GET INTO SQUADS OF SIX!!" Wolf was confused. "What was a squad?" He glanced about and watched the others form up into groups of six. Eventually getting the idea, he found a group with a spot missing. The group consisted of the following people (That he knew): Rary, Drelan, a small elf girl, a mage woman, and some fighter type. The leader of the army then yelled "YOU ARE SQUAD ONE!!" and pointed at Wolf's group. He shrugged, not knowing that they were going to be the first to charge and likely the first to die, until Drelan mentioned so…
He gritted his teeth, waiting at the cave mouth, gripping his sword tightly. He could see the outside, because he was up front with his squad. He saw many bodies, men fighting, fire burning the grass, holes in the earth, more balls of fire being hurled into the land... This angered him. "They are destroying the land," he thought and this made him anxious to get this over with.
Eventually..."SQUAD ONE!! CHARGE!!" and he rushed out into the daylight and hid behind a trench with his group. The balls of fire were endless. They couldnt get close to the village gates. Death cries were heard and the smell of rotting and burning flesh was in the air. Wolf was scared. He had never seen anything like this. Usually battles he fought consisted of a small group, but this was new to him and it frightened him greatly.
BOOM! The gates were destroyed by one of the Defender's catapults. Wolf charged and fought some of the eastlanders that blocked him. The adventurers stormed the village... to find that there werent anymore Eastlanders. "This is strange, where are they?" Wolf began to think. At first he thought it was good that there were no more, but he had a strange feeling... Suddenly an eastlander came from out a house and charged at Wolf, managing a blow to his shoulder.. Wolf gasped in pain and whirled around, slicing the Easlander's chest open, blood spewing out. The man screamed in pain and fell into a pool of his own blood. Wolf, wide eyed, glanced about and saw more eastlanders coming from the homes. They attacked his "squad" and he ran to help them. The eastlanders did not play fair... they would double and triple team his companions. Wolf would run up and stab at thier backs, evening the odds.
The battle raged on like this for hours. Wolf saw his companions fall and would be helpless to save them. The Defenders numbers were dwindling.. everywhere he heard screams from adventurers. He would soon find himself being surrounded by bandits...
...As he was fighting a bandit, one managed to sneak up and stick him in the ribs. A crippling blow for Wolf. As he gasped in pain, the Eastlander he was fighting chanted a strange spell, causing Wolf to feel weakened and stupid. Others in his squad saved Wolf by dispatching the ones who had dealt such blows. "Get back to the cave!" He heard someone yell at him in his haze. He stumbled back to the cave, luckily not finding anymore eastlanders along the way. There, he passed out...
He awoke to see a woman tending to him. It was Raisa, his future wife. "Is over?" he asked her. She just nodded and then he closed his eyes again, relaxing himself.
So ends Wolf's part in the battle... It may have been a small part, but everyone had a role to play in the battle.
(Was a fun battle, even with the lag . Thanks to all the DMs involved. Yay!)_

The Bloodlust
_He lay in a pile of leaves in the druid glenn, looking up at the tops of the tall trees. He closes his eyes for just a moment, trying to sleep, but opens them quickly again, afraid of his dreams.
The dreams he has are of violence, blood, and death. Sometimes these things would excite him, though he didnt know why, they never have before. He is frightened of what is happening to him and hopes it would stop.
He hasnt told anyone of these dreams, because he does not want to remember them and retell what he saw. Though, he should, because it might give a clue to others that want to help him. "I can figure this out," he would think to himself, though he knew he had no ideas. The urges to kill and spill blood were growing daily and it was hard to control. Everytime these rages and bloodlust came out, he would grow weaker in will. That much he knew. He knew because he had nearly choked a friend, Cike, to death in one of these rages.
He was angry and saddened at how weak he was. At first, he thought it would pass, but it hasnt and only has grown worse.
He had a temporary cure, a herb, given to him by the druids to help calm him. One type of herb was supposed to put one to sleep, though, it only calmed him for a short while. He would also pray to his goddess for aid. Though it continued, relentless.
He had thoughts of leaving, or just…ending his own life. He'd rather kill himself than have these urges harm others. Though, he chooses to wait and see if it can be stopped. But, he is starting to doubt that it can be..._

Friends
This is a list of Wolf's friends and what he thinks of them
Genzir Malark - Genzir was one of the first that Wolf had met. He thought of Genzir as strange at first. Genzir would cast these strange blue lights and hurl balls of fire. This amazed Wolf and it even frightened him at first. Though, as he continued to travel with him, he knew that Genzir was a good man. Whenever they would go hunting, Genzir would have many suggestions on how to approach the dangers that they would encounter. Wolf liked how Genzir would come up with these suggestions and sometimes, these suggestions would save thier lives. Genzir has been a loyal friend to Wolf and Wolf will always respect Genzir.
Kelnethar - Kelnethar was also one of the first Wolf had met. He thought Kel was just some ordinary hunter, though as he got to know him, he came to respect the man. Kel loved the woods, as Wolf did, and he respected nature. Kel was also a good friend. He would try to cheer up Wolf when he was sad or depressed (which has been alot lately). Wolf hopes to have future hunts with Kel.
Raisa Dyernina - When he first saw her, he had this strange feeling in his gut. He didnt know what it was or what it meant, but it was there and he liked the feeling. He had met Raisa on his first days in Narfell, like the others above. As Wolf continued to see her, his feelings grew stronger. He had never experienced these feelings before and didnt know what to do about them. So, he would just occasionally smile to her, then blush and look away as she noticed him. Eventually, he would tell his feelings to her and they would be together. Wolf always seems to be more happy when Raisa is around, always smiling and even joking around, which he doesnt do often. She has been the only one to make Wolf laugh, though, only she saw him laugh. He will always love her and hopes to spend the rest of his life with her.
Katelynn Latocian (Sp?) - Wolf thought of Kate as one of the strangest people he has met. She would always wink at him and make jokes he didnt really understand, though, most of the time they were naughty jokes. He likes her happy attitude. When he is around her, he seems to lighten up and forget about some of his troubles. He noticed that she liked the drink called "ale." He didnt see how she could drink so much of it without being effected much. When he first drank it, he nearly passed out into the fire after just one bottle.
Belm'ar - From any of the others, Wolf thinks Bel is the strangest he has met in Narfell so far. From Bel's random talk about pie to sneezing acidic bugers when he had a cold. Though, Wolf thinks of him as a good friend. Bel introduced Wolf to cake and pie, which he had never had before. Wolf loved them both very much and knew why Bel loved pie. Wolf was also amazed at Bel's power through magic. From throwing large balls of lightning that explode to turning into a troll. Wolf's favorite is when Bel casts a spell on him that causes him to run and attack really fast. Though, Wolf is more tired after the spell.
Riama - When he first met Riama, she scolded him for picking up a potion on the ground that was supposed to be for Raisa. Though, as he got to know her, he came to like her. She has a happy attitude most of the time. She was also very generous to Wolf. She gave a large diamond to him to put in the wedding ring for Raisa. He couldnt thank her enough for that and he hopes to repay her someday.
Fadia (Meret) - Wolf thinks of her as wise and also… a little loud. Aside from the loudness, he thinks she makes a perfect archdruidess. Also, she is someone to talk to about troubles. She would try to cheer up Wolf when he was feeling down by wanting to talk about it and helping anyway she can. He feels he can go to her when he has a problem and that she can solve it immidiately.
Oreth Meret - When he first met Oreth, he didnt really understand a thing he said. He would use large complicated common words, and Wolf would have to ask what each meant. Wolf also is amazed that Oreth practically knows everything and almost always had a solution to a problem. Though, he thinks that is a good trait to have. Wolf knows that Oreth has had much experience and he hopes to maybe be as wise as him someday. (I doubt it though)
(The list will go on once Wolf gets to know more people)

Chapter 3: Alone
_Wolf was now 8 years old. Learning better common and basic reading that Shila had taught him. He didnt live the life of a normal child. There were no other children to play with and no friends to be made, accept Shila. Though, Wolf seemed happy, to be out in the woods. He loved to explore them and sometimes spent the night out in the woods, coming home to a very worried Shila. "Damn boy! Dont go sneaking out like that! Do you want your ma to die of worry?"
"Sorry ma"
"Dont be sorry! Just dont do it!"
"Alright ma."
"Your lying to me boy. As soon as night comes, your going to go sneak out again. Well if you do, I will bolt the door so you cant come back in!"
"Then how will you get out ma?"
"Ill… use the window!"
Days and nights like this continued. Wolf would sneak out and wander the woods, always seeming to find the way back home easily in the morning. He would find new places to get food and water, and told Shila of them. "Well...I guess you aint so useless after all," she would say.
Life seemed good for Wolf. Nothing to worry about accept Shila yelling at him for being a boy. He could do what he wanted basically and learned much from Shila.
Two years went by... Wolf was now ten years old and Shila, was not getting younger. One day would change Wolf's life. "Boy! Go chop some wood while I get the other fire supplies ready! Tonight's going to be a cold one. I can feel it," Shila felt her chest, there was a pain there, "Yes, I can feel it.."
Wolf ran off to chop some wood, which he loved to do. Simple chores such as this helped him stay healthy and it was fun to him. But, this time, he had forgotten the hatchet. He ran back to the cottage. "Ma! Where's the hatchet?" He yelled as he ran into the cottage. There was Shila, lying in the bed, barely breathing. "Ma? Are you fine?"
"No, boy. I aint fine."
"Whats wrong?"
"Wolf..." She said his name instead of 'boy.'
"Yes?"
"You are going to be alone for a while. Im leavin."
"Leavin? I want to come!"
"You cant"
"Why?"
"You cant follow where Im going. No, you wont follow for a long while."
Wolf tilted his head, confused. Shila continued, "There's some-.." she coughed a raspy cough and clutched her chest, "There's some things I want to tell you."
"Ma?"
"Im not your ma, Wolf. I found you in the bushes out in the woods."
"No, your my ma."
"Listen! Your parents abandoned you out there. They didnt love you, but I did."
Wolf stared at her, his eyes watering, "Not true!"
"You can believe what you want my dear. I knew you were to young to be told this. Im sorry my dear." She coughed some more, this time much worse. She closed her eyes and let out one last breath, "Survive." She then stopped breathing. Her age had taken her. Wolf stared at her, his expression blank, though tears ran down his cheeks.
He was now alone once again.
