A Sulphuric Encounter

  • A tale of an adventure beneath the surface told by a roaming swordsman named Paci Kelteel over an ale in the Shiney Coppers.

"…and when I entered the formian caves I saw this small group obviously preparing to embark on some kind of a journey. I helped them fend off a few overconfident formians and was recruited for some kind of a search."

Takes a long quaff of ale before conitnuing the story.

"Well, after running back and forth in the caves for some time and battling the bloody ant people in every corner, we finally reached an alcove guarded by a hook horror. The dark, brooding girl, who was apparently the brains behind this endeavour, beat down the horror fast and efficiently - and with her bare hands! Wouldn't want to cross her if I didn't have to."

"In the alcove, we found a crack in the cave wall leading much deeper into the underground and, after some preparing, six of us made our way down. In addition to the girl with deadly hands, there was a merry hin lass by the name of Tiggles, Tseris the sorcerer lady, a dwarf cleric called Furian, a Tempus following warrior who the girl called just "Captain" ((Teris)) and, of course, yours truly."

Empties his ale pint and waits expectantly for one of the listening patrons order him a new one. After a brief while and some money collecting, he's handed a foaming pint of ale and the story continues.

"The tunnels beneath were narrow and rocky, and the air was stale and moldy. There was water oozing through the ceilings, rocks and boulders dropping down here and there, and a smell of acidic sulphur constantly burning our nostrils and throats. And there were traps! Hundreds of them everywhere, and when we realised it we knew that we're on to something interesting."

Takes another sip of ale and clears his still charred throat before continuing.

"Well, after wading through literally hundreds of mindless, panic-stricken goblins and the traps galore, we finally arrived to bigger caverns and found out what was so interesting after all. Seriously though, the signs were all there. Not only the traps and panicked goblins, but also the growing scent of sulphur and acids in the air and the sudden trembles of earth that made the tunnels crumble little by little."

Pauses for a while and lets his greenish eyes travel the crowd, which has grown quite big by now. Then empties the pint and finishes off the story.

"Well, I'm not sure if I have ever run so fast in my life, considering I was thoroughly poisoned and out of breath at the time. We all ran like hell, but poor Tiggles with her tiny legs got badly clawed in her back a couple of times. In the end she made it out still breathing, but the Captain wasn't that lucky. We pulled his lifeless body through the crack just in time before the tunnels collapsed and saved us from our pursuer. We were able to revive the Captain on the spot but he had suffered a bad mental trauma for knocking the gates of death."

Stands up, collects his belongings and heads for the door out. On the way through the curious crowd he casually remarks:

"I must admit that 50 gold pieces and some loot for tangling with an adult black dragon is not my idea of a well paid job though!"

Grins wryly and steps out of the Shiney Copper.

((Thanks Gobbletom, attlen, the crew and whoever DM might have been lurking behind the scenes! It was a totally awesome and finely RP'd dungeon crawl! :D))

  • A veiled figure in dark browns and muted reds sits quietly in the corner stitching on a swath of fringed fabric. Her dark eyes regard the denizens of the local establishment with calculated curiosity. The rapid exit of the men in grey robes easily attracts her notice. She watches them leave, studying them closely until they exit, then she quietly re-threads her needle and returns to her stitching.

  • A pair of men in grey robes, shaved bald, sit in the corner eating fried noodles and conversing darkly, with the occasional anxious glance about the common room. Their conversation ceases immediately once the mercenary warrior mentions a woman with deadly hands and, before long, their interest shows plainly on their gawking faces.

"The Nameless Monk is back…" one of the two says ominously, and they rise quickly, tossing a few gold coins on the table as the tavern's guards give them a dangerous look, and they quickly dash out the door into Oscura's streets.

  • A helmed warrior sits in the corner of the Shiney Copper sharpening his sword, his armor torn down the front asn back with what seems to be huge claw marks, he listens quietly to the tale by Paci, nodding occasionally as if agreeing with his words. When he hears the part about the Captain suffering bad mental trauma from knocking on deaths gates he starts to chuckle slightly

As Paci stands and leaves the copper the helmed man slowly stands and follows him out

(( thx Attlen for organizing it and Gobble for running it. Thanks to the players involved, I had a great time RP'n with you all. Death is fun when its done by a dragon for some reason :P))
