Legion returns

  • A weary group of Legionnaires return from the orc fortress
badly bruised and bloody. From beneath their dented helms
eyes burning for revenge glare. The dead lay ceremoniously
on stretchers covered in brothers and sisters cloaks and
are respectfully carried to Vroka's to be revived. The
remaining Legionnaires divide to watch the walls of Jiyyd
in case of a counter attack for several hours before heading
    the Legion Halls to recoup.

Shortly after the Legionnaires return, the story of the Legion's
    fight spreads thru the town.

It is said Grag himself gathered forth what Legionnaires
he could and along with powerful allies of the Legion
sought to strike a fatal blow to the orcs. The forces
encountered light resistance till they breached the fortress
walls where they were met by orcs of better merit. They had
not stepped several feet into the fortress courtyard when
2 large orcs in fullplate began raining down arrows that
burned with acid from the hills. But the Legion pressed
on not able to hit the orcs on the hills with much force.

An orc magi appeared on the hill as they broke past the
second gates and began laying about with foul enchantments
upon the brave attackers. This combined with a cohort
of destroyers stalled the attackers as they sought to take
a nearby hill. Demons and undead were summoned by the orcs
and thrown at the Legion forces with great abandon. But,
between the salvos of destroyers, demons, magics, and
burning arrows the Legion held the hill firm with few
losses. The the trap was laid and the Legion slew the
two plated orcs along with an orc priest and gave chase
to the magi. The deaths were answered with a moan of
horror from among the orc ranks. The orc morale broken,
    the Legion pushed harder.

The Legion scaled the wall protecting the magi and pushed
forward. Wave after wave of orcs punishingly smashed against
the Legion ranks spilling blood of friend and foe into deep
pools in the snow and mud.

Forward the Legion pushed even when smashed by a dozen
destroyers at once. Finally the Legion reached a tower
nad lay seiged to hit with a powder keg quickly bringing it
down. The orcs answered with renewed vigor sending scores of
destroyers to harry the Legion. Their number proved to great
even for the mightest blade or spell in the Legion arsenal so
they pulled back and were harried thru the gates once again.

Thought the numbers were hard to tell, it is said that among
three Orc champions that fell that day, over 4 score destroyers
Gruumsh along with countless lesser orcs.
