The tale of a knight

  • _Along the North walls of Norwick, a lone figure draped in a firey red cloak and only pieces of a light scale breastplate visible out from beneith. The wind had picked up in the Nars and the skies had once again began to take on a crescendo of mixing orange flares and purple flickers throughout the sky. Crystals littering the road below glimmered lightly against the darkening evening sky while the guards of Norwick stood almost tiredlessly at their posts, their blue and golden armour shining against the hue of the light the crystals provided.

    Events had taken a full circle…first arriving at Norwick and spending years defending against the many threats it had always faced only to have been cast out when their need was dire...for what? Disagreeing with people recklessly risking their own lives. Only to come back years later and take the position she'd been cast out from due to being outcast from -everywhere- else. It was amusing irony at least. Only, this time...She had new allies in the form of the crystals and their minds. They had offered her trust in exchange for spreading their word about the coming evil. As soon as she had accepted, they had taken her body and moulded it deeper within the crystals, Altered her closer to perfection. Her thoughts were drifting through, back through the past to before she was enlightened, to a particular night in Jiyyd ;

    The cool night air blew althroughout the sleeping town of Jiyyd. For the first time in years, not a soul stirred save for Dalron and a few of the watch members unlucky enough to pick up night duty...Not an orc, or dark dwarf in sight. Through the darkness, owls perched upon the thatched cottages and spoke in whispering tunes in praise for the lack of daylight. Elsewhere rats scurried across the fields and hid under the cover of freshly growing grain. In the distance, a wolf howled to the dying moon in the early morning, offering it's woes and triumphs to the sky in consolation to Selune.

    Atop the second floor room of the inn called the 'Regal Whore' , a rather inappropriately named Inn by all standards, stood Kara by the window, dressed only in a long blouse drawn about herself to offer a basic warmth in the cool air. The room itself had been a simple one ; a double bed, with a foot-chest at the bottom, several laqured wood cupboards in the corner of the room and a warm woolen rug dotting the wooden floorboards. Over on the tousled bed from where she had risen after a particularly sleepless few hours, a sleeping form huddled under the blankets in a deep sleep, blessedly unaware of his surroundings and the silent worries she carried with her still.

    So many problems, so little time to solve them in. Noone understood the burden of offering aid even when begrudged or even having to stay 'strong' when everyone else was fleeing from whatever was causing their anxiety. Of late, people had seemed to loath the presence of paladins at all..did they have something to hide? Perhaps they disliked their own inequities being pointed out.

    "No matter.." She thought to herself, reaching out with her hands to unclip the closed over window latch and draw the window open to breath in the quiet morning air. A faint breeze drifted throughout the town and in through the opened window, Illiciting a shiver from her as the cold crept up her spine and then goosebumps dottong along her fair skin. She had been unable to sleep ever since the crystals had risen from the ground and tempted her to touch their glittering, flawless surfaces...she had resisted at first but eventually gave in and placed a hand against the surface of the shimmering crystal where energy had arced through their bond and flew into her, causing euphoria unheard of before. The sensation had ended prematurely when she'd been dragged away by five people and beaten unconsious to keep her rising. Tendays later, the urge still beckoned at the back of her mind...seek them out, allow just a touch more. They had even begun to inhabit her dreams due to the single touch that flared between them, she would wake up in a cold sweat

    She exhaled in a shivering breath and lifted her hands to draw the window closed to return to her place in the luxurious looking bed, to attempt another futile few hours rest. She would find them, but perhaps another day._
