To build the crypt do you just construct the map or do you have to put scripts in?
I don't know a thing about scripting or anything complicated, but I am pretty sure I can point and click and cobble together an area.
-
The majority of exterior areas are 1616 in order to fit in with grid. Interior areas can be any size ranging from 22 to 16*16.
As has been mentioned before, interiors are best kept as small as possible though. Bare in mind that each tile represents 10meters x 10meters; which is a pretty large room.

@9f167dd1b8=ZANETAR:
The toolset is very misleading in its portrayal of area sizes; they always seem twice as big once you look at it with the DM or player client.
Yes, definately. Just a 2x2 area seems HUGE in the player client compared with the toolset.
I also understand that all exterior areas on Narf are 16x16….Though dont hold me to that...
-
Interior areas don't really matter where size is concerned; I generally just try to make them as small as possible without discluding anything I want to include. The toolset is very misleading in its portrayal of area sizes; they always seem twice as big once you look at it with the DM or player client. A good way to keep track of size is just to toss one human NPC in your area to provide some spatial comparison.
Only exterior areas have standard sizes. I believe it's 12x12. 16x16?
-
What is the standard size an area in Narfell should be, Tile-wise?
-
Alright, I had one submitted to me. Sorry, but it just wasnt what I was looking for in a crypt. PM me if you want to discuss it further (you know who you are who sent it in).
On another note. I want to add a fight pit/arena. So, maybe more people would be interested in creating this type of area? Send me your entry at kuk@narfell.com. I hope this turns out better.
PS, sorry for those that may be working on a crypt, but I have a member of the dev team helping me with it. I will look at it though if you send it to me.
-
Working on mine for you now Kuk

Bump
One received so far.
-
Not sure they are listed anywhere, but you can ask any of our devs in irc. I wouldnt worry about area naming as that can be edited, its just script naming that needs to be right.
-
Where can one find the Narfell naming conventions for area dev?
-
No. No entries, no winner….......
-
Just wondering, but has the winner been declared…?
-
This threads for the contest folks, everything will be explained ig
-
Undead can be raised for reasons outside of normal magic. Why not just have it that the undead are allowed to roam free and the town government just merely leaves them alone as a training area? And maybe just because its obscura, the government maintains the traps and builds new ones. Perhaps hiding a secret storeroom in the heart of the dungeon?
-
Yes it is. Oh and please when making scripts, use Narfell naming conventions so as to make the dev's work easier when implementing if yours is chosen. Contact a dev for information on the naming conventions.
-
This contest still open? I might like to give it a shot.
-
err cust you know how much it costs to raise a deadder?!
ILl have Herrold submit rad, heps, and my area for himself
-
I just want the areas for now, I'll work on the rest of it.
-
So there's no story elements you want incorporated or any sort of denizen for these crypts? Totally open-ended?
