Milo Pontifex

  • Milo Pontifex, master chef of the Gali and Ghostwise homekeeper of the Hin. Ever since he can remember, he has been a Rom. His people, he are told, are particularly wild and secluded. As to his own story, most people don't know, or keep quiet about it. All Milo knows is that ever since he was young, he was raised traveling and has ever had a fondness for food. He was a plump halfling, making him an unlikely playmate, and very seclusive to boot. As a result, he doesn't have a very good social sense.
However, what he has cultivated is an intellect and imagination. That, combined with years of practice at his favorite activity, made him become a cook amongst the Hin somewhat permanently. At the same time, he took up the religion of Cyrrolalee, the Hearth Goddess of the Hin. As a homekeeper, he keeps a hearth warm for all wanderers. He also accepts the gypsies as the people who truly are at home wherever they go. Further, he seeks to master his cooking, and so at every place they have traveled he has learned from the nearest chefs their own methods. As a result, secrets such as sugar-sculptures and spices have become his, as well as racial specialties.
Given the opportunity, he readily launches into the cooking methods he has learned, and its intricacies. He can be somewhat droll due to this.
While truly at home in the kitchen, of late he also has found the world outside to be most exciting. Since the gypsies are semi-permanently settled, he can no longer get that spice of excitement…hence he now goes aobut, even by himself.
