Oreth politely requests to speak to King Horgan

  • ((Please do not use NPCs in IC posts. You would not and could not know how they would respond unless you are repeating something that happened while the NPC was under DM control.))

  • looks to Ty hmmm yes. I wonder that in mine and arandors many converstaions with her we have never discussed that. she sticks her tongue out at him Ty you know better then many things here move slowly and people in general are not quick to change. I like to think of myself more as a steadily dripping rock eroding that below it rather then a fast rushing river that will just wash away the errant leaf. Who knows where the leaf would end up then hmmm?

tala smiles sadly to Oreth and nods Mielikki watch your steps brother and levik too, be well.

sighs heavily looking very tired as she sips her cooling tea

looking to arandor I need to find cordellia her tea always perks me up.

  • Olivia hears all the things being said about her through Dart as she again goes to make her daily business with him

Say, Olivia…. are those things they're saying about ye true? asked the old man

olivia ponders for a few seconds taking it all in Some are, she shrugs some are just empty threats, and the rest just plain lies. there's a moment of silence …. You know. All of this is happening because Arthro came into the picture... and now all these druids want blood. she chuckles… dart cocks an eyebrow looking at her wondering what's so funny funny…. it's just like how Arthor would want it grins … blood everywhere.

Dart frowns at her words and begins to say something before being cut off

Save your breath! she holds up a hand to silence him i appreciate your concern. gives him an honest smile But sometimes people are just misunderstood… she looks down but that's alright. I don't like some people, and some people don't like me. it's just how it goes, right? she starts to walk away but then stops to look back at Dart oh! and the stupid hin with the cards that you mentioned…. what the hell does he know about training with a sword like mine?? grins And eating the faces of children?? shakes her head in disbelief and chuckles where is getting these stories from?

finally Olivia walks away to do her daily training

  • [scratches his red curly locks, a confused look on his face] geez, they're all the same, aren't they? I didn't name the strangers, but he certainly assumes it was him. Got a bit of a guilty conscience I guess…[shrugs his little shoulders again] y'know, it's like you're their best friend or their vilest enemy. Can't a guy just be…y'know...some guy who makes stew?

  • He doesn't listen very well, does he?

He started attacking us before the "Strangers from the south" rose up against him. Funny how Fadia, Andu, and myself were strangers, since we've been Gali for years, but it sounds about right, anyway.

And yes, the oath should mean something, little man. But it doesn't.

Gets up to follow Malika out, and turns for a moment to look over to Tala and Arandor

You've both treated Fadia and I fairly in the past, which is more than can be said for many. If you require anything of us, inquire around Jiyyd. Word should reach us reasonably quickly. I will do what I can. I cannot speak for her, but I imagine she feels the same.

He nods slightly, and makes his way back into the nars, becoming a wolf as he leaves the bounds of the camp, and loping off

  • :: the little man chuckles as she storms off ::

More tantrums and accusations? Far be it from me to say what he's done since, but I saw the druids rise up against Arthro when he was just some guy in the camp. I was in the council when the elders had to decide what to do when strangers from the south were making demands.

Some people take vendettas personally… [he ponders for a moment] … really, this Arthro character aught to just join the circle. Wanton slayings for this or for that ... I don't see a big difference between his conduct and yours. But hey, don't go vendetta-ing me too, just 'cause I don't like the killing! [he smiles cheerfully] He probably is the scum you say he is, though I scarcely think a badger makes a good witness. I just sorta thought the Oath was binding. You know, honor and all. [he shrugs his little shoulders] If a man hasn't got honor, how's he any better than the be- [he stops, realises who he's addressing, and laughs] Ahh well, point for you guys I guess!

  • Malika, who happened to accompany Oreth on his visit back to the camp overhears the red haired hins comments

You think we, as you say, "randomly villanize good folk"? Should we not be concerned when this Malarite enters our glenn, and slaughters our bear guardian at our own altar? This is after several attacks on one of our sisters. He may deny this, but nothing occurs in the woods out of sight of plant and animal. As one who speaks their language, I am convinced and need no further proof. We will see this villian brought to our justice, but we will pick the time and place. Any who stand with him, they too will be judged.

She turns and walks briskly out of the camp

  • Pushing himself off the ground slowly with one hand, Tyche stares upward at the high moon, through the trees, and puts his hands in his pockets. Looking down and passing his eyes over the assembled people, he sighs softly before turning around and taking a few steps away, then pausing and commenting, idly.

"Politics, by their nature, are ineffectual." He shrugs his shoulders and laughs out of his nose. "I will handle this issue as it becomes pertinent to myself, but I do suspect this will come down to blood, rapidly—ideally, not that of anyone whose is dear to you all. What better time to make a strike against the Kumpania than now, after all?"

He glances over his shoulder, looking over at Arandor and Tala. "If she is truly your friend, I would advise you show her the error of following a Malarite, or Malar. You know nothing good will come of that sort of pursuit. For any purpose, whatsoever. Swordtraining is not hard to come by in a land full of adventurers, and it always starts with one thing, doesn't it?"

"Anywho, I am tired." Turning, he gives them all a traditional Romani bid good night, and makes his way toward his tent in the inner camp, muttering to himself about politics, walls, spiders and bloodlust.

  • ::Calming somewhat, Arandor takes Tala up on her offer for tea, settling down next to her and sipping slowly.::

"Tala is right, Zyphlin. You come here expecting things, nay, demanding them of us. Knowing nothing of how things are around here, not that anyone can blame you for that, for that is how it has always been… It is true that I am an Elder of this camp, but only one... One outsider among seven Romani. The eight of us advisors to the King... I speak on behalf of the Gali."

::He sighs softly and takes another sip of his tea.::

"I spoke to the King on Oreth's behalf, not days after he requested them of me. Of his friend, Levik, of Arthro and Olivia, of Rando and the threats made… The answer was always that the King would find time to speak with them himself. I do not know why it has taken so long... My only guess is the recent dangers have caused this... And I do not blame the Gnolls solely, for they are merely the most recent danger of many... Dangers that have been plaguing the camp long before any of this ever began... This most of you should know."

::Rubs at his left shoulder, rolling it a few times and it cracks loudly, and he sips his tea again.::

"As I said… It's unfortunate that it has taken so long and become such an issue, but that much is out of my hands. I just hope that this can be resolved when we finally have some room to breathe."

  • tala looks to oreth

thank you for speaking with me. I'll talk to her again. I truely believe Arthro is the root though. For all we know he gave her the necklace.

    mulls the news

  • Oreth glares at the hin

Agreed. He was attacking Fadia, who, up until the two of us left, was a Gali, as early as four years ago, and nothing was done.

  • Tindra growls, "That Arrthrro has attacked drruids. Drruids who, at the time, werre Gali. We arre not rrandomly villianizing herre. Arrthrro is an evil man who is trreating us drruids like his prrey and doesn't carre about any oath."

  • the little red-haired man chuckles as he drops some spices into his stew by the fire, then he looks over at some adventurous Gali by his side…

"say, what did this Arthie fellow do, 'xactly?" he asks cheerfully. "I know he was a good Gali when he was here, and then some druids got their grassy thongs up in a bunch and they demanded he be kicked out, but I don't recall him being anything but civil. Noooot that I'm supporting wanton murder 'n such, but I always see the forestie folks after one friend or another and I sort of wonder if they don't just randomly villainize good folks just 'cause they can."

  • Upon hearing that more information is required of him, Oreth eventually brings himself to reappear at the fires. He doesn't address most of what has been said, and limits himself to the question directed at him

We found Arthro out in the woods hunting dinosaurs and saurials the night before. Said he was waiting for a friend. We ran him off, but obviously he came back.

Then a day or so after the carcass was found, she turns up with a dinosaur-tooth necklace, and makes a very big point of showing it off to me.

So I laid down my oath for several reasons. The only pertinent one is that I might take her life and that of her master, and do my god's will, without breaking it.

Do you require anything else of me?

  • tala looks to zyphlin and frowns muttering about people insulting her

Ty, Olivia has been a friend of my family for longer the Sarah'linae has been born. I do assure you she has yet to eat my daughters face off yet. I will make sure you are the first to know if that ever happens.

    gives him a half smile

She choose to study swordsmanship unders Arthro because he uses the same type of sword she does. Master Tero does not, nor does arandor, not does anyone else I know.

When did she make loud threats against anyone? This is the first I have heard of it.

If you'll recall early this night I commented that Oreth had tried for meetings with the kings. I was in support of trying to work things out with Oreth. I am much saddened to see him go. What am I to do though? Pick friends? Lets see this one lives with a spider and that one trains with a malarite… maybe make a list of their attributes?

I would like to see this worked out, but Oreth left before he let me work on it. I still have yet to hear what proof there is that Olivia was in anyway involved in the slaying of dinosaur. I do understand Oreth's ire. I would have felt the same to find a white stag similarly in my home. I said as much to Tero.

    shrugs

You come here with alot of notions about how things ought to be zyphlin. The reality is how things are. The Romani are not a hurried people. They do not like conflict. We talk and deal with things privately. There are times when even I having lived here almost 12 years now am still excluded from deeply Romani discussions. It is not just a town with rules and laws it is a family with history, customs and culture. What works in peltarch would not work here in the camp. I do hope someday you will be able to understand the subtle differences there in. I likewise hope that Oreth comes home sooner rather then later.

takes a drink from her canteen and then frowns as it is empty

    who wants tea?

  • Tyche listens to the conversation, quietly sipping his wine and shuffling his cards with one hand.

"Why care, Arandor? 'Cause she can open the gate." Tyche sighs, and pulls his legs into a crossed position. "And why learn swordsmanship from a Malarite, when you can just . . . Hire a teacher from the Romani? Is Tero not our resident master of blades?"

Ty watches Sy'wyn walk off after exchanging banter with Zyphlin, and shakes his head slightly, mostly remaining quiet on the issue between them.

"I don't think Oreth—or Fadia, or anyone who just forsakes their Oath 'cause something doesn't go their way—did the right thing. I also don't care if druids have threatened Gali, that's entirely unrelated." Ty takes a long pull of wine before tossing the empty bottle toward the fire.

"But, if she is working with Arthro, which she seems to have admitted already and we know, anyway, then who cares for what reason?" Ty furrows his brow and wipes his hand over his face, letting out a long breath of air. "Letting a clear threat to the camp through the gates is bringing potential harm to the Kumpania. If you are helping someone make a move against a Gali, as a Gali, then you are not following the part of the Oath that says 'shall not harm another Oathtaker.'"

Glancing up toward the treetops, Tyche listens momentarily to the crackling of the fire and the general ambience of the surroundings. "I am perfectly aware she has been here longer than me, by years. However, that isn't a reason to just glaze over the issue, since she's one of your oldest friends, Elrin."

Ty cuts his cards a few times and chews on his bottom lip. "Facts: Oreth requested word with the King and the elders numerous times. He tried to bring the issue to the Kumpania's attention over and over, and was met with silence or head-shaking and eye-rolling. There was no meeting, no hearing, no investigation, trial, nothing." He riffles his cards and shuffles them on his knee, bridging and cutting betwen each shuffle. "I respect you, Arandor, as the Gali Elder. But, this issue has existed long before the King's injury, Katya's visions, the persistent gnoll attacks, the demons—just not the ghosts and undead. This has been sitting on the table for years, unattended to no real excusable reason. Because nobody apparently cared." Ty sighs and stretches his legs out, slipping his deck of cards into his inside shirt pocket.

"I can't force you to be concerned, but you must understand that when I hear about a Gali making very loud and clear threats to another Gali, then you'll have to pardon me for bringing it up." Tyche pops his knuckles, twining is fingers together and pushing his hands outward. "I sympathise with Oreth and his sentiment that the Oath doesn't seem to carry much actual, true weight around here." He glances at where Sy'wyn went off. "As an Elder, Sy'wyn witnessed Gali making plots to kill other Gali and Gali being threatened by their kin? And they remained Gali? Were repercussions even administered? What does that say?"

Grimacing, Tyche leans forward and picks up a handful of leaves, crushing them in his hand and filtering the debris through his fingers. "To be absolutely clear, I make no threats, or push for no banishment. I am merely sad and a bit confused by this apparently convenient apathy. When the fact is that when there was nothing urgent going on, nothing happened, and, then, these urgent issues surface and suddenly that's why it's unimportant now, despite the non-exiistence of said issues in the past? I guess I need a few more drinks to make that make sense . . . "

  • (( the correct response if you think someone is assuming knowledge they shouldn't have is to contact a PG who will contact a DM who will verify. There's no need to call public attention to what may be an honest mistake ))

  • (( Remember there is a tride and true roleplaying tool in roleplaying games and even in books….lieing and assuming. The numerous posts on here of "seeing a man out in gnolls with a flaming sword with olivia" can easily make people assume and then state as fact in thier own mind that she must've let arthro go through the camp. Also, many of us saw you all in the cold caves killing the ogres, and its rather common knowledge the only way into the cold caves is through the camp. As far as things erased OOCly. It was to my understanding that you would simply not be wanted anymore and it was to be left at that and we weren't to interact. Although it was also said you were to disinvolve yourself with the arthro plot, but this isn't the place to get into that so if you want to hash that up please take it to PM's instead. Final thing, I don't know about the druid grove, but this is a thing to remember, there's always possibly more going on then you realize. Stealthers can be everywhere and "Scry" is a simple spell for many casters to cast that can be used with nothing more then 'the persons that killed the dinasour and left it outside the glen'. Finally, if you have issues with thoughts of people metagaming it may really be better asked to PM them about it and discuss it in private then throwing it up on the public forum in an IC thread))

Chuckles slightly and waves to Sy'wyn, smiling at the comment

Never said that the "simple" things i spoke of was removing the oath, thats just what you want to assume. That's your problem, you and others like to say I say the same stuff all the time, but you never actually listen to what I say and think about it a second to realize if thats true or not.

Shrugs and goes back to sitting against the rock, strumming his yarting peacefully as he listens to the crackling fire

  • "e: call it how you see it Zyphlin. Every time I asked for proof nothing was given… I no longer care... as for having someone being stripped of their oath being considered a "simple" thing... that just tells me you know nothing of this place you thought about living in...

Wanders on into the inner camp, muttering something or another about bards playing music like they should.

  • (( two things to consider about all this… first, whenever arthro came with me to kill gnolls and ogres, he ALWAYS used a potion of invisibility to get by, there's little chance you saw him.... i'll admit that you saw Zanetar but no way did you see Arthro. Second thing, me trying to kill Zyph... i thought that was erased OOCly. meaning that i am not wanted from peltarch or anything like that anymore.... i guess i there's one more thing. The desecration of the druid's grove, did someone actually see that beside the people that were involved? this is OOC so i'm not gonna come after you if you did. ))
