A warmachine in the silver valley
-
Citizens of Jiyyd were stirred into chaos as the earth shook and the cries of Legion troops rang out from the North of Jiyyd and the Silver Valley!
A huge golem of screeching metal and undeniable strength tore through the Valley, smashing valiant Legion troops like flies!
Damage to the Valley and Jiyyd is not immediately known, but it may have been the efforts of the Legion's troops and two powerful mage-women that kept it from being crushed into rubble!

He runs into town after hearing the news about a giant warmachine laying waste to much of his precious Silver Valley. He does not curse as he enters the town's gates for there are no words in his vocabulary that would help provide an inkling to how he feels. He clenches his fists and runs house to house, helping all that he can, all the people that are willing to accept help from him. After spending day after day with his breathren, he begins looking for Scutum.
"About time Mallis has his talk with her Council."
-
_Rolan can be seen patrolling around Jiyyd and the Valley waiting for the machines to come back. He seems to be in a very serious mood and any questions directed at him as to why he would wait for them after receiving his second brutal beating from them get answered with a "If we dont destroy them or at least try and slow them down they will not stop until everyone is dead. Personally I would rather die then let them kill all in the valley and turn their attention to the next town".
With that he walks off holding his ribs carefully, still not fully healed from the last beating he got._

Mirkali grumbles about the attack by the "War Machine" that spouted fire everywhere, burning people badly, including himself, and tearing apart Jiyyd and The Valley.
On another note, those in The Silver Valley would note constant work within the house on the Wyrspell property, booms, clanks, and whizzing heard, which is rumoured to be where the remains were taken. Mirkali, Budo, and Merin can be seen going within from time to time, to come out many hours later covered in soot and grease, talking excitedly about construction and such, Mirkali usually speaking in non-sense Gnomish jargon.
-
Mirkali tells others that it wasn't quite a war-machine per se, as he lays out the rudimentary explanation of them being automotons, while the one that attacked them was piloted by a deep gnome. He looks out often to see if they return, even though noting that he will get his usual glutonous punishment that he's used to
-
Drelan Ashire can often be seen stalking Jiyyd and doesn't seem to be shy about giving information on the war machine to anyone that asks, sometimes when they don't. He seems very annoyed as he has harrassed the machine several times ineffectually, even using a prize gift that he doesn't go into very heavily, just seems shocked that it didn't work with as expensive as it was. He has since been seen trying to urge legion members to make a more planned defense instead of waiting for the last moment, as hard as that is with as many bodies that can be seen lying around. When he isn't in jiyyd he can often be seen in the Regal checking on many of the wounded. He also seems to be one of the few not bothered by Lady Aspera, though whether it is because he actually isn't, or is hiding it is yet to be seen.
-
Reports will attest that the slender and frosty Peltarchian, Lady Aspera Chillwind, appeared in Jiyyd, and proceeded to sunder the construct with massive arcs of lightning and a hail of arcane missiles, rending hole after hole in the things metallic flesh before it collapsed. Quite what her motivations may have been are unclear, for her reputation is not beneficient or known to defend anything but herself. Moreover, while it is said that she did indeed kill the gnome who stumbled from the wreckage, she did not appear to use common enchantments at all, but simply pointed at the gnome's chest, its body falling crumpled and lifeless.
-
Following these events, Gears, one of the defenders of the Valley in the War Machine's last assault has taken up temporary residence in the Regal Whore Inn, unable to make the journey back to the Gyspy Camp.
Those who come to visit him find him lying in bed with two black eyes, what looks to be a broken (and reset) nose, and judging from the various painful noises that he makes whenever he shifts position, some other broken bones. He also ask any hins who come in to carry an apology to the owner of the Elfling Charm for the pool of his blood on the floor there, the blood that soaked into the couch, and the bloody handprints he left along the wall when he hobbled out.
He also tells them that the operator of the war machine was the deep gnome woman who had been seen around Jiyyd recently, and that she said she had been there to kill Budo.
-
Many brave heroes fell gravely wounded in the battle with the terrible iron machine.
The few who remained standing loaded up the fallen, battered warriors, who included Lady Kara, Nalio, brave Rolan, Elrien and cheerful Pete and others, onto jackass pulled wagons, and they were taken back to Jiyyd, where they remained in critical condition for a long while, as no cleric mighty enough to properly attend to them could be found.
Eventually C.O. Maythor of the Legion showed up, and he carefully nursed them back to health.
The Valley will not be so quickly fixed, as much uprooting of trees and battering in of walls occured in the terrible struggle.
What terrible secret lies behind this machine? No one seems to know. Rumors fly of more such smoking beasts, and one can only hope that rumors are all that they are.
-
A furrow of dirt leads from the spot it was defeated to the Wyerspell estate. Something appears to have been dragged.
-
The Valley was attacked again, for what may have been the final time. The War Machine smashed about only to disappear and reappear again. After a few battles with the defenders present, it was eventually defeated with the aid of Lady Aspera.
It turned out to be operated from within by a small gnome woman, who Lady Aspera then killed after a jointed interrogation effort with Merin Wyerspell and Mirkali Vragnovich, while Gears watched.
-
A large umberhulk is seen walking into the valley, where it sets immediately to helping to clear debris and large objects. While it works, it does not seem to answer to anyone, but every now and then those watching it see it stop and cock its head around as if trying to see something no one else can. After it has helped with the worst of the debris it moves out of the valley and leaves Jiyyd heading east.

Ginger takes up a post at the campfire in the Silver Valley, and busily cooks a hearty stew. She makes sure that Valley residents and volunteers are healed, comfortable and well-fed.
-
Mog is seen about Jiyyd and the Silver
Valley with a group of trackers and
participants in the war machine
battle trying to map out exactly
how the war machine moved thru
the towns and determine if it seemed
after any spcific people or buildings.Often Mog is seen pursing his lips
in deep thought and sketching notes
and diagrams on sheets of vellum.
-
Mia after returning from Waterdeep to help look for Ginger's brother Sage
is shocked to hear of the attack.
-
Theaon can be seen looking very depressed about the attack
"How could something this evil happen to our peacful valley?"
he frowns and shakes his head, then realizes what has to be done
"We must clean up and rebuild what we can. The valley will not stand down to this iron beast. May Yondalla protect us all."
-
Yarchum returns from a two week scouting trip to Rawlinswood and is shocked by the news and the remaining signs of destruction. He can barely hide his anguish and sorrow from the villagers, until he has withdrawn inside the walls of the Stout Fellow. While inside he lets out his fury and frustration on one of the drow-shaped practice dolls beating it down to a pile of tiny figments. After that he collapses on the floor breathing heavily and holding his head in his hands.
"And here I thought it would be better to start scouting the outer threats to the Valley. It was so peaceful in the Valley for the last months that I should have guessed something bad was on its way. Forgive me, Arvoreen, for I forgot your most important teachings and went far scouting without making sure there was enough strength left behind to protect the village. Next time, punish me for my ignorance, not the innocent people of our beautiful village."
A single teardrop falls to his cheek as he wearily climbs into one of the cots in the Fellow and falls to a deep sleep filled with nightmares of umberhulks and war machines…

Philomena hears the awful news on one of her regular visits to the Valley;
"An iron giant, in the Valley?! What on earth could such a creature be doing here?"
She ponders this enigma while she enquires if any still need healing. Those that do, she helps to tend with poultices and healing herbs.
-
Captain Lyte Bry'Gaede of the Legion pitches in to help clean up the mess she could not keep from happening. She points out a huge tear in her full plate, and warns the local Valley inhabitants to not let the huge "iron-man" get ahold of them.
_The thing strikes harder than an orc destroyer. It's going to take a big force to stop this thing, it tossed me through a wall like I was a rag doll, stunning me and almost killing me in a few seconds.
Fortunately, it didnt seem particularly organized or focused on any one person or thing, but seemed to be chaotically attacking things in the valley at random.
Next time, I fear, we may not be so lucky. I will alert the Legion to this monstrous thing, and we will try and stop it, if it returns._

Returning from a trip to Peltarch, Scutum is shocked by the devastation. She immediately springs into action to help recover the wounded and dead, and to help direct the cleanup effort. After a long couple days of work, she goes to the Silver Stream to clean herself up. When she stops moving, what she has seen of the Valley catches up with her, and she cries for a while before she can drag herself into the cleansing bath.
When she is done, she rests fitfully, and reemerges after collecting herself enough so that she is confident she will not break down in front of her kinfolk, and prepared to act as she must.
