Gypsy Gossip

  • Angry words surge across the camp from over near the Swordmaster's tent. Some snatches of the outburst are more easily heard than others.

    "Captives still alive"
    "We should have known"
    "Pale, skinny, ignorant elf "

One phrase is particularly clear. "Who in the nine hells does he think he is." Perhaps this disturbance was caused by the gali who went to speak with Tero some hours earlier - but the only elf in that group was a female - so perhaps not.

<< edit for clarity: the voice was not Tero's >>

  • _Tremors rocked the earth and there seemed a great commotion around the collapsed mines in the inner camp. Several Gali were seen fleeing from it, wounded, and seemed quite worried.

Many travellers arrived to help with whatever was stirred in the dusty mines, though for most, it was unclear as to what was going on… The mines were scoured at length, and eventually things quieted down, and everyone left...

The Gali, Constantin warned Master Tero of the possibility of a threat greater than shrieking mushrooms in the mines... Arandor and several Gali spread the word that the mines are unsafe, to keep your children well away from them, and that none should enter them alone. Some say that the Drow have found their way in... But most claim it to be another spider infestation.

Whatever happened in the mines seems to have people quite worried, yet despite the dark times... Arandor refuses to let it worry him, maintaining a quiet vigil over the mines and Gnoll bridge most nights._

  • _The pale elf called Keira has become a more frequent visitor to the Camp recently, often seen in conversation with Sy'wyn following his return.

Around the fires she mentions seeing an old ghostly robed woman walk into the Hidden Pass and up the cliffs on stairs that weren't there._

  • Soft words are whispered amongst the camp about the odd red glow that came from Rass' hill not long ago. When the merchants first came in with mentions of winged demons on the hill the Gali Sy'wyn was seen to stand and look at the glow, and many heard mention it was to close to the camp. He left out to investigate, along with his brother Alvar, his cousin Llach, the Merchant Nico, and the bard Sierra. No one is quite sure of what happenedon the hill, the rumor varies from teller to teller. There were shouts from the hill, and two calls for help, and a large bear was seen dragging the body of Sy'wyn back into the camp and straight to Katya's tree, pale, bloodied, and not breathing. No one is sure what happened after. Some they saw Sy'wyn walking back out of the tree and into the pass a dark look on his face, and no words uttered. Others that he never left the tree at all. Rumors that a troll was seen wandering the pass in search of a body were attributed to Sy'wyn trying to find Alvar's body. Some even make mention that a dark cloaked elf that shimmered with strength appeared and walked into the tree, and that this was Sy'wyn's god come to claim him. Llach was seen coming from the tree, tears flowing down his face. No matter who swears to seeing what, and where, and when, one fact carries through. No one has seen Sy'wyn since.

  • Oath Takers around the fires witnessed a man reading aloud the inscription upon a small silver sword. As he did so, the infernal runes disappeared and fire licked across the clearing. In the centre of the flames stood a man with a tail. In the moments that followed his vanishing east several anxious voices all said one name.

    Thyrm Cardea.

  • Those entering or leaving the pass into the Gypsy Camp hear a faint soft melody coming from the direction of the watchfire. Though obviously well out of practice, or the pipes well out of tune, the melody has a sad and distant melancholy to it. Those few who climb up to the fire find the piping stopped long before they draw near, and find no one near the fire, though footprints lead off through the snow.

  • Tyche sits around the Fires and tells a story of treants appeared in the deep region of the Hidden Pass, where the Dryad Tree grows, and have pledged themselves as allies of the Camp.

"It was quite a sight: an army of treants stomping the hell out of some drow-baby spiders. They wiped the place so clean, we actually got to see some normal, run-of-the-mill wildlife—plain ol' deer, not demon-deer bred by illithids or rambling lich-deer here to eat our brains. Just . . . Deer-deer."

Ty smirks his gambler's smirk. "There will come a reckoning for the drow, soon. They will pay for their crimes . . . Trying to . . . Poison . .. The Dryad." He steeples his fingers in front of his mouth and grins devilishly, revealing his pointed incisors. "This reckoning will be markedly tree-flavoured."

He chuckles darkly and swigs some wine.

  • looks oddly very relieved at Rolan's words and maybe not very sorry for the character seen to have been licking all over the young girl.

  • Rolan smirks at listening to Tala and wanders over to her

Don't worry Tala, if I see anyone touching Star they wont have any hands left to touch anything after that. Everything will be fine mother.

after saying that he chuckles and walks off with a evil looking grin on his face

  • Listen you tart… just because you want to spread your legs for whomever doesn't mean someone with the intellect of an 8 year old should be allowed to roll around with a grown man!

That is just sick. She might look like a 15 year old but she thinks like an 8 year old. Eigth I say! I'd ask everyone at the camp to keep an eye out and help in protecting her until her mind catches up with her body.

looks totally repulsed by belade and stalks off towards the inner camp muttering about 8 years olds

  • Belade is seen watching on from the shadows, and tries to persuade Tala to leave the two alone.

  • tala gets some quiet whispers from some of the rom watchers. Looking grimly around the fires she tells people that when the scruffy ruffian shows his face again someone better warn him.

"You don't go into a mother bears den and play with her cubs without consequence!"

chops for emphasis with her hand. She settles to the ground and starts sharpening her swords muttering "these aren't just good for spiders. He'd better be young….

  • It seems the pouncer has found a kitten to play with. There is some amused ribaldry about Star being seem sleeping curled up round a strange man who seemed intent on feeding her fish and on grooming her hair. No-one felt inclined to stop the pair since they seemed innocent enough in their activities, though more than one Rom muttered that whether the man thought he was a cat or not it was Tala that was likely to have kittens when she found out.

  • There has been no consternation whatsoever at a recent spate of graffiti around both outer and inner camps. Scratched into the mud and drawn with mug on the sides of trees and the occassional tent wall, but soon washed off with the frequent rain, have been a series of mysterious and often cryptic sentences.
The temporary nature of the graffiti as well as the content have mostly led camp members and guards to smile slightly and give small shakes of the head. It certainly seems however that 'Star loves Tala' and 'Star loves Elrin'.

  • The Halfling Defence League

Great roars and thumping footsteps could be heard in the nars outside the gypsy camp, followed by a man and an elf running into the camp from the direction of the sound. The man was identified to be Elder Arandor and the elf, a gali named Ethrun. The two were seen walking into the inner camps to King Horgan, and the elf gave to the King a few stones wrapped in a cloth. No one knew what exactly happened but rumours has it the King has assigned the two earlier to venture into the cave of Rass to acquire new stone for his fire. Rumours now fly rampant that the roars were those of Rass', who apparently isn't pleased with unwelcome visitors…

  • Rumors from the gate guards from a few nights ago say that Olivia and Elrin were seen wondering into Gnoll territory after having met a man in green and black armor, an elven woman and a troll. The Elder did not seem happy at all but went nevertheless.

After a few moments, the troll was gone and replaced with a dark figure in heavy armor with what appeared to be a flaming sword.

Hours went by before they were seen again… but not too long after another party was seen going into the same direction they headed to before. Words of "dark magic" near the gate leading towards gnoll territory are said by many who saw the darkness ingulf the area. Soon after, the man in green and black armor was seen leaving looking quite upset... the elven woman looking like she always does and Olivia and the elder looking very tired.... a frown on the elder's face. The troll, or the figure with the flaming sword was no where to be seen.

One thing that was noticed was that all of them, except that elven woman, were covered in dried blood.

  • Lately Dart has been seen with a -huge- smile on his face. When asked why, he replies that it's because Olivia has been giving him business unlike anyone else with his combat dummies….. usually taking four or five at a time and returning the next day to buy more.

If you show interest, he will point you to the right direction where you can see her putting those dummies to good use as she trains daily to improve wtih her sword. She usually wears her dark full plate but on certain occassions she wears just her clothes and many scars can be noticed on her well toned body.

  • Random heaps of variously coloured mushrooms and toadstools have been left beside trees throughout the inner and outer camps. No-one has seen who put them there and no-one has a clue as to why. Generally they simply take the edible and medicinally useful ones, delivering the latter to Baba Katya, and leave the rest to rot and feed the trees they rest against.

  • _People wonder at the recent rumours spread by travelling Romani from the south. It is said that Arandor, along with a few Gali, were seen at an encampment only recently settled, far beyond the elven outpost. An odd rumour that goes along with it… Is they are said to have travelled with a pack of wolves... And even say that Arandor himself is one of them. Most dismiss it as nonsense for he is clearly a man.

The Gali Elder was seen preparing for this journey days before he left, but whis was hardly out of the ordinary... Such journies were frequent. It is clear that Arandor wished to speak with Babo Javien, a wise Elder and known Romani purist... But people speculate as to why?

Some hope that he requested aid from the Kumpania south, for the troubles that have been afflicting the camp. Although some believe that Arandor is stricken with an illness that Katya herself could not heal... That Javien may be the only one to help. And a small few seem to think that Arandor travelled there to help rid them of trolls that threatened their lands, swearing an oath to Javien he would return if ever the need arose...

They all returned several days after their departure, with light hearts, heavy bruises, yet smiling... Which makes people question the initial rumours... and begin devising up a fourth that had not yet been considered._

  • Word floats on the wind that the self-proclaimed shaman and spirit-speaker, Devath, has been making many hostile threats against innocent people and even other Gali, for some time now. Murmured questions of the value of his Oath can be heard around the Fires.
