Gypsy Gossip

  • _People wonder at the recent rumours spread by travelling Romani from the south. It is said that Arandor, along with a few Gali, were seen at an encampment only recently settled, far beyond the elven outpost. An odd rumour that goes along with it… Is they are said to have travelled with a pack of wolves... And even say that Arandor himself is one of them. Most dismiss it as nonsense for he is clearly a man.

The Gali Elder was seen preparing for this journey days before he left, but whis was hardly out of the ordinary... Such journies were frequent. It is clear that Arandor wished to speak with Babo Javien, a wise Elder and known Romani purist... But people speculate as to why?

Some hope that he requested aid from the Kumpania south, for the troubles that have been afflicting the camp. Although some believe that Arandor is stricken with an illness that Katya herself could not heal... That Javien may be the only one to help. And a small few seem to think that Arandor travelled there to help rid them of trolls that threatened their lands, swearing an oath to Javien he would return if ever the need arose...

They all returned several days after their departure, with light hearts, heavy bruises, yet smiling... Which makes people question the initial rumours... and begin devising up a fourth that had not yet been considered._

  • Word floats on the wind that the self-proclaimed shaman and spirit-speaker, Devath, has been making many hostile threats against innocent people and even other Gali, for some time now. Murmured questions of the value of his Oath can be heard around the Fires.

  • Devath passed trough the camp in a dreamlike state, chanting in a strange damarran accent. He called a rune out of one of the rocks near the wall, and stepped trough, appearing inside the inner camp. There, he went around, chanting and calling runes from various rocks and cliff walls, before once again stepping trough rock and into the outer camp. All this was seen by Tala, Oreth and several other Gali, who at this point decided to stop Devath. Due to the fact he wore a robe and a helmet, he was not yet identified at this point, however. When they tried to stop him, Devath merged with another rock, "blinking" to elsewhere in the outer camp. He was brought down and tied up soon after though, and started coming out of the trancelike state he was in. A rune mark, which resembled a key, was burning fiery in his left palm during his stride to the camp, and started fading into a burn mark as he came too. Baba Katya spoke to him in a strange language for a while. Devath then explained that there are angry spirits at work in Narfell. Mostly a result of the disrespect of the "outlanders" for the land, and the original Nars tribes, but Devath also states that it there is something else as well, but it is not clear at this point what that is.

  • _Some strange gossip floats around the camp, as a few people mention seeing the Gali Elder Arandor looking very ill, and staggering into Katya's tree late one evening, probably seeking treatment for spider poisons. Tala followed awhile after too see what was the matter, before hurrying out…

This wouldn't normally be anything out of the ordinary, except for the fact that soon afterward, loud chanting was heard from inside, as well as bright flashing lights that continued for nearly an hour.

Awhile after the strange lights subsided... Arandor staggered out, seemingly exahusted, and fell asleep near the main fires, later joined by Tala, who watched over him, worried.

Anyone attempting to speak with Katya after all this are shoo'ed out by a protective, and concerned Elera, saying that Katya needs her rest.

Word is Arandor ate some very bad mushrooms._

  • The rune words found earlier, have now been seen glowing softly at night. Some claim that they have heard strange, angry whispers when passing by the marks, and others have even claimed seeing ghostly figures fading in and out near the places where the runewords have appeared.

  • Word spreads that sul'lina was seen sitting happily at the campfire one night when tala came up to her quite grim faced. Tala was said to have handed her a letter that upon reading sul'lina begain to quiet cry…crumpling the letter up and tossing it on the forest floor as she leaned into her sister for support.

  • No sign of Devath after the incident, except for a series runes that have appeared near the entrance to the camp. Although it is unclear what these runes mean at this point, the same rune sequence is quickly found near the entrance to the spider woods, and another series within the inner camp, at the entrance to the abandoned mine.

// anybody who wants to investigate the runes, and has the necessary background to make sense of them, PM me.

  • _Rumours spread around camp about a heated discussion between Arandor, Rolan, Devath, and some Gaje…

Word has it the argument started between Dev and the two Gaje women... and soon escalted when Arandor and Rolan moved in to stop it.

The five of them left the camp and more words were exchanged in the Nars. Rolan and Arandor obviously on the same side against Dev... The Nars tribesman eventually left, leaving with Arandor some cryptic message. Not too long after, Arandor is seen entering the camp, annoyed, angered, but seemingly unafraid.

To anyone that inquires about the incident, he says simply._

"The fool insulted me, disrespected me, and threatened me… He has chosen not to respect our ways... Good riddance."

In the days after… Arandor is seen taking frequent walks through the Nars, as if expecting something.

  • Oreth brings these little excursions to the attention of Arandor as soon as possible

  • More and more often Olivia is gone from the camp for a few days to return looking more content than usual …. dried blood on her armor and sometimes her face.

  • :: a small hin watches the smug, bloodied woman return from where he lies concealed within a heavy section of brush ::

He grins and whispers to himself "looks like you've got some competition, Myth-boy. I wonder if your blade can compete with his…" he chuckles to himself, supremely confident in his ability to wield his tool.

  • Few nights ago Olivia was seen going into Gnoll territory alone…. after a few moments a dark figure appeared beside her with what looked like a flaming greatsword. Then, they vanished into the shadows.

Almost a full day later she was seen coming back into the camp covered in dry blood... her cloak all torn up. A slight smile of satisfaction on her face as she walks to the nearest stream to clean up.

  • Olivia seems unconcerned with all this drow talk and who betrayed who, and what happened to what. Lately however, she can be seen having a few heated words with Dart… then walking away with a few combat dummies to set up in a remote secluded area where anyone who happens to be walking by can see the her training hard with her sword.

After being asked what she was arguing with Dart about, she says that he is charging way too much for the dummies but the old gypsy would not be persuaded to lower his prices.

  • the guards speak of seeing sul'lina following arandor and sy'wyn in for thier discussions…... according to some she was the first to leave.... and in a hurry shouting angerily back into the tree "how would you know ..... did the drow destroy your home....did they slay your brothers!!"..... then she hurried off into the hidden pass...or so they say

  • Tala seems a bit harsher then usual lately and definetly more overprotective. She gives people dirty looks if they speak of fell things when her family is around.

  • _Rumours spread around the camp that after many weeks, Sy'wynn had finally returned to the camp, and there is much speculation as to why?

He was met with the Gali Elder Arandor and some others, and they spoke at length in private.

As the night went on, the others are seen leaving one by one… Before Sy'wynn himself, and lastly, Arandor.

People seem to think that the former Elder has come back to repent and ask forgiveness, and that he has laid down his life for Arandor in token of this. While others seem to think he appeared only to defend his reputation, spurning all claims of worshipping Bane.

Either way, Sy'wynn left the camp the next morning... After a few parting words with Arandor and Tala, yet it remains unclear on what terms he left..._

  • Star finds the whole thing very funny and only a concerted effort by several of the guards in the area prevent her from copying Ty and doing the same herself.

  • A few Romani and Gali who rise early in the morning speak of the disturbing sight, as the day broke through the forest canopy, of Tyche—the Gali gambler—streaking stark naked around camp, performing one lap and retreating back into the Communal Tree. If asked about it, Ty shakes his head and smirks his gambler's smirk, replying, "Joker's wild."

  • Strange sensations pulsed across the land of Narfell. Feelings of deja vu and time coming to brief stand stills. As abruptly as it came, the phenomenon passed.

  • tala is not seen about the camp much immediately following arandor's mysterious return. Although her whereabout are unknown most assume she is spending time with arandor. When she is seen she looks pale and tightlipped.
