Songs From the Embroidered Book
-
Ocean Fyne is often to be seen writing in a book with a beautifully embroidered cover. The area of the cover where a title should go is unstitched as yet. Anyone seeking to read over her shoulder may be disappointed however as the writings after the few more commonly known songs at the front are all in Shaaran.
Fifteen Men ((((A pirate drinking song))))
(Chorus) Fifteen men with rum on their breaths,
some grabbed her arms and some grabbed her legs,
but the bold Pirate Lass just said "Gimme yer best!"The Captain stepped forward and up stood his mast,
The Lass with a grin over it her eyes cast,
said "If that's all yer've got bet yer glad yer nay Last!"(Chorus)
The First Mate went next, his was skinny and thin,
The girl wook one look and she said with a grin,
"Will yer hurry up man, an just shove the thing in!"(Chorus)
The second mate smelling of tar and foot rot,
Strode on up next and ripped down his pants like a shot,
She said "Gods man, don't tell me that that's all yer've got!"(Chorus)
The Bo'sun he freed up his pink deep sea Bass,
With a chuckle she saw it and then said the lass,
"If I'm ever ter feel that yer'd best use ma Ass!"(Chorus)
They each took their turns, that fifteen strong crew,
But the light never drained in those eyes of pure blue,
And as each went she told them "Tis a shame yer so few!"(chorus)
When they'd finished the job, those fifteen hard men.
She shook herself free, stood up proudly, and then,
shouted "COME ON YER SWABS, CAN'T YER GO ROUND AGAIN!"–--------------------------------------------------
I Sailed Away ((((A Sailors Love song, Slow Tempo))))
I sailed my ship by the warm south winds
And the waves were calm and soft
I sailed away from my true loves home
With my Colours flown aloft.I sailed my ship by the swift west winds
Over tall waves capped with foam
I sailed in search of treasure and gold
Though my thoughts were oft of home.I sailed my ship by the harsh east winds
Through storm and blustery blow
A star for a guide and a sword for a friend
For adventure I did go.I sailed my ship by the cold north winds
Through snow and sleet and rain
I stood steadfast through many a storm
To return to you again.I sailed my ship for many a year
But at last I came to shore
I've dropped my anchor here, my love
I'll sail the seas no more.–-----------------------------------------------------------------
Scion ((((To a marching beat. Martial))))
From another land, the gruff man came
Wreathed in sorrow, cloaked in blame
Dark his eyes, his face unshaved
With armour girt , and armed with blade
Sentenced to exile, a girl he'd saved
And for the deed, with honour paid
Cast out from there, he came to find
A place to leave the past behind
A warrior, a true-born knight
Always to seek the Fire's light
Striving hard for what was right
And yet ~within~ was his true fight
Doubts assailed him, drove him long
When choices made, were they made wrong?
Trained and shaped he'd been since birth
Within him he could not un-earth
Belief in all that he was worth
And though he fought with fearsome skill
And many evil's blood did spill
Within him turmoil roiled still
Heart and mind were torn asunder
Through his soul there crashed the thunder
Could he, should he, have done more?
Back there, upon that distant shore. His pain was eased for a brief spell
For brought to him upon sea swell
A girl, herself a houses heir
With sapphire eyes and raven hair
And with love she looked upon his face
And in him searching, found no trace
Of who ~he~ thought she should see there
Instead she found a faithful heart
A soul of honour, a man apart
She strove to show him what she saw
And to him some self-worth restore
In truth, he did begin to see
The kind of man he'd grown to be
But lo, an obstacle appeared
And though the love between them seared
They parted ways, now he seeks once more
The peace within that once he saw.And though her love for him lives still
He cannot capture that idyll
That once she brought into his heart
Confusion keeps them still apart
So striding forth, to meet the Fire
We live the scion of House Ashire
His heart is true, his soul is pure
His armour strong, his weapon sure
The land around him knows more peace
Because his vigil does not cease
And though his worth he cannot see
A finer man, you could not be
For through torn heart, and troubled past
Though his soul be tired at the last
He will stand firm
He will stand true
Through all it costs
He will stand true–---------------------------------------------------------------

(((For my die hard fans, the Embroidered Book is finished, a book only has so many pages and this book represents more IC terms than just her collected songs to date. HOWEVER, Ocean is incapable of stopping writing, there will be a bew book started soon )))

This is great. You should sell theese! There are enough bands out there who needs some good lyrics for a change!

_Drelan unlocked the desk drawer has he sat down slowly in a chair not his and slid it open as of looking for something. As the drawer opened he just stared at the sight not moving, not making a furrow of brow, just stared and gave a deep sigh as he muttered once again in the language most never understand a single word of. He took the book slowly out of the drawer and ran his hand accross the cover closing his eyes a moment as if remembering some image past and opened it slowly his eyes darting over the book pages slumping back in the chair and turning each very slowly letting the weight of the page pull it towards the book.
His gaze strained and he almost went cross eyed a moment, finally shaking his head as if giving up. But still he turned and turned trying to pronounce the things on the pages. On the last page he spoke the words for the first two bouts then stopped and read over the rest in silence until the end.
ost>f i r e t ake ooo..
He stopped and blinked a moment and shook his head as if not believing what he had just muttered. Then out of the blue began to laugh very very very hard some sleeping men waking up at the racket comming from the room. Drelan let the book fall on the table and just looked at the cieling shaking his head. He then closed the book and left the warehouse carrying it under one arm_

The final song in the book is written in common
**The End (((Musical notation for drum in a staccato rhythym)))
Ache.
Heartbreak.
A thirst for love to slake.
Do I only take?
Are my feelings fake?Did I ever care?
Did I ever share?
Is his despair
Of me actually fair?
I stand and feel his glare.Love, like and lust.
Therein lies the thrust
Of his argument. I must,
Before my life is dust,
Fathom which to trust. But I know what I feel.
I know my love is real.
I just don’t know how to deal.
So as I sit and heal
I whisper my appeal.Just tell me the facts.
Enough with all the acts.
It detracts.
I’ve seen how he reacts.
The pain that he enacts.Forget your foolish pride.
Put all honour aside.
I’m soon to be a bride
And I need you to decide
If my presence you’ll abide.I’ve done terrible things.
I know what I’ve done stings.
I’ve seen the pain it brings.
A fist swings,
And darkness clings. No more than I deserve,
To preserve,
The guilt in me I observe.
Do not swerve.
For I know I have some nerve,To accuse,
To continue to abuse.
I lash out as I refuse
To lose.
To admit I cannot choose,To make everything right.
It’s not my fight,
Just your plight.
I am a blight,
So lacking in insight. So I attack,
When what I should offer back
Is compassion, not its lack.
I see your look is black,
Yet I push until you crack.Death was near.
I saw the fear,
In her face when it was clear.
But the fault was mine my dear,
In this and every year. It’s a curse.
No, it’s perverse,
Everything I say I make things worse.
If this trend doesn’t reverse,
We’ll need a hearse.Maybe two
One for me, and one for you.
But I’ll not let that come true.
Time I withdrew,
Since I only make you blue.I’ll walk away,
Every day.
Not another word I’ll say
And I pray,
I can give you peace that way.Should you bend,
And back to me send,
All I can, I’ll lend.
And if our paths should tend,
To similarly wend,
I’ll stand by to defend.
But what’s done I can’t mend.
You know you can depend,
On me to descend,
To rip and rend.
It’s not what I intend,
But I can no longer pretend,
I’m a good friend
And so this isThe end.

There are two blank leaves left after this song. Turning to the last the following can be read
Remember me for the times I did things right.
Underneath in Common are a series of meaningless syllabuls, that to the right man, said aloud, read
<ost>Fire take you.
A short while later Ocean can be seen delivering the book to an empty warehouse office, leaving it in a locked drawer where she knows he will find it. Stitched into the blank area on the front of the book amid a profusion of stitched Forget-me-nots is the single word Drelan</ost>**

Killing Time ((soft, contemplative tune for single harp))
As I sit alone and wait
Of the many things I contemplate
The absence of those that I hold dear
Is what brings me the greatest fearI worry here is not my place
When I know not what they must face
I cannot be beside them all
I dread that one of them may fallLove and Lover, Mentor too
I miss you all, the three of you
These halls that rang with mirth and song
Have heard just me, for far too longI know you each do what you must
You'll all return, in that I trust
And when you do I'll be so glad
Forget that I was ever sadI'll write a song of joy and love
And raise my voice to the gods above
'til then, I'll sigh and contemplate
How hard it is to sit and wait–--------------------------------------------
-
((Soft melancholy tune written for a flute, though notations made for playing it on a harp as well since Ocean doesn’t play the flute))
I weep for what
I could not save.
A goodly soul,
Loving and brave.
The strongest woman
I have known.
I know how much
Her life had grown.
From cowering in abject fear
Of any who wore red
To marching at a Vampire
And facing her own dread.
I do not think
I made it clear
While she lived
Just how dear
She was to me,
A pirate girl,
Who’s own life
Was a messy whirl.
Directionless until she came.
Without her I’d
Not be the same.
First mate to me,
Who had no crew
Or ship and
Knew not what to do.
But when she first
Called me Captain
A path for me
Became less dim.
And so I have a
Ship and crew
I sit and weep
For all I knew
Of her who set me
Onto that path,
And as I cry
I feel such wrath,
At me, for all
I should have said
And cannot now
For she is dead.
And oh, my friend,
Amy my dear,
I weep for all
I’d not made clear.
Of just how missed
You’d really be
If you chose not to
Return to me.
And so I pray
You have found peace.
And that the pain
You felt has ceased.
Mine has not.
I don’t berate,
I simply miss
My own First Mate.–-----------------------------------------------

(((Still in Shaarian in case you forgot and steal the book ;)))
**Calm ((Soft and melodic, single harpist))
A soul and mind and heart so given
To spinning, swirling, turmoil, pain.
Is suddenly at total rest
Singing out this calm refrain. And what, you ask, and well you might
Has changed so much? Has brought such peace?
Has brought such calm and surety?
Has caused her inner whirl to cease? The obvious. That age old tale.
Love has swept the surface clear.
A love she knows will never falter
That through any storm will steer.Though down the years their ship will rock
As waves drive at them from all sides
The helm will hold, the hull is sound
They’ll weather all that fate decides.No-one should hope their bond to sunder
And why would any want to try?
All should see the inspiration
Obvious to any eye. That though your life may now seem lonely
Bereft and spun out of control.
Out there, there is at least one other
To make each aching heart be whole. And so we leave the twice blessed lover
Our souls uplifted by her joy
Knowing now what peace exists
For every lonely girl and boy.–--------------------------------------------------------------------
A Bardic Lament ((Very up-tempo fast tune))
Come gather close
And listen well
A well kept secret
I will tell
So hush up now
And listen well
For most don’t know
What I now tell.To you we bring
Good cheer and fun
A well played jest
A song or two
But just because
We often smile
Doesn’t mean Bards
Can’t be blue.
No not him!
I mean that each
Who sings a song
Recites a speech
Behind the face
They wear for you
They all hide pain
As you do to.Come gather close
And listen well
Another secret
I will tell
So hush up now
And listen well
For most don’t know
What I now tell. That every bard
Who sings of joy
Must first know pain
And must employ
All of their art
To make you smile
And if they wish
To eat a while
They have to hide
Their own fears deep
Their inner worries
They must keep
For who would pay
A single gold
To a bard who seems
Distant and cold
Or sad or blue
And yes I do
Mean Zyphlin too
And so I ask
With all my heart
Remember well
How hard this art
Any man at need
Can rhyme
Not sing perhaps
For that takes time.Come gather close
And listen well
A well known secret
I will tell
So hush up now
And listen well
For all should know
What I now tell.Though bards will sing
For joy alone
It’s not a crime
To show them you
Value their time
And so this simple
Bard enjoins
Do not be slow
To part with coins
We too must live
We too have needs
Through pain we’ve lived
To find the seeds
Of every song
We sing for you
Be we dressed
In red and gold, or blue
Don’t disappoint
If we play well
And help our thin
Coin purses swell
A bard’s lament
I sing for you
When we are broke
We too feel blue.–-------------------------------------------------------------
Paranoia ((A poem))
It’s not paranoia
If they are out to get you
And they are
They said so
And then they said they weren’t.Mistrust is justified
When words change
When action and stated intent
Conflict
Make peace, not war. Or else! They will not force.
And yet they have.
You must be willing.
But not all were.
That they are now, speaks volumes.Drugged, duped, held enslaved?
Or the last hope against evil?
Justified killing in the name of peace?
What does a glowing rock
Truly know of us?And yet.
They are our friends,
Relatives, even loves.
Who is the enemy here?
How do you fight a rock?If the defiler returns
What of it?
Do the crystals claim to help
By dividing us so?
Us and Them? Not Us and Him.If they speak true
Then when evil comes
We will be too tired
To fight.
Worn out fighting each other. It is not paranoia
When you truly
Do not know
Who to trust.
Or what to believe.–-----------------------------------------------------------------------**

Not me (((No musical notation apparent)))
You claim pain
And pain I see
Did you think I did not
You are not meYou read the future
So you say
And saw that things
Would go this wayAnd yet you never
Thought to ask
Is talking a
One person task?I've never been
Much good at life
I know that I have
Caused much strifeBut telling me
How I feel and think?
It's pushing me right
to the brinkActions?
Alright, I think too much
I know this. Do you?
Well not as such.Love. Well it
Was always yours
If not for all your
Walls and doorsSlammed shut into
My face each time
Is being tired
Such a crime? You tell me all
The things I've done
To hurt you.
Have you done none?No matter how pretty
My eyes may be
I told you I find it
Hard to seeEspecially to see
my way
To understand why
you let him hold sway.Enough.
Stop telling me what you see.
Just ask in future.
You are not me!–-----------------------------------------------------------------------

<u>Lilly Laer</u> ((Musical Notation for Two Harps))
Incandescent
ToweringDetermined face, Indignant glare
That anything would even dare
To threaten any she holds dear
The wind blows back pink hair from brow
And to no fear she’ll ever bow.Heroic bard
And fighter tooA heart so fierce and warm and strong
A mix of blade and lilting song
She stands for all she holds as true
A battle cry, a shout of rage
My heart beats fast within it’s cage.I watch in fear
She charges forwardA battle-bard, and a beauty rare
Will she ever know how much we care?
How much she means to one and all?
It is not brave not to be afraid
But against a fear a choice is madeTo battle on
With heart in throatShe throws herself upon the foe
Not caring how the fight will go
But knowing only one true thing
That not to fight cannot be thought
For all she loves, the battle sought. My heart beats fast
To see her soAnd if one day I have to give
My life for hers so she may live
I count it a debt poorly repaid
For it and more I’d willingly pay
To spend with her one single day.Captivating
PowerfulI know that she would disagree
I know that she just cannot see
That she is worth all this and more
And yet my heart these words would share
To tell what I see as I stareThe pure white soul.
My Lilly Laer.–----------------------------------------------------------

The Silence Hurts (((No music noted)))
I sit and watch and think and feel
And as I sit my fingers twitch
An urge to calm my inner self
To scratch a soul-deep, aching itch
But though I ache in heart and soul
I dare not make my spirit whole
I dare not reach for loves true gift
To reach for what I used to hear
I dream of faces filled with cheer
And yet I know not what will be
The coldness that has taken me
The doubt is worse than what has been
To find that as I pluck the strings
And try my heart and soul to bring
Instead to hear the screech and wails
I sit and wish and hope and sigh
And in my breast, my heart it quails
The pain of sitting silently
I fell, my life rent, violently
Yet of all the things my killer stole
The one that cuts deep through my soul
Is the nimbleness from in my hands
The skills that used to calm me so
I cannot even bring myself
To fetch my harp down from the shelf
For whilst it sits in spledour there
No one need know
No one need hear
No one can see
How much the silence hurts–---------------------------------------------------------------------
Debutante ((Fast reel))
A chance! A chance!
Is all I ask
A dance! A dance!
No simple task
I wait! I wait!
In nervous fear
Stand straight! Stand straight!
As men come near
A smile! A smile!
E'en if they turn
A trial! A trial!
Will they all spurn?
And yet! And yet!
Here comes one close
And yes! And yes!
It's me he chose
So on, So on
To floor I tread
And lights, and lights
Spin round my head
I twirl! I twirl
and step, advance
At last! At last!
My first real dance
It's done! It's done!
I did not fall
I danced! I danced!
At my first ball!–-------------------------------------------------------------------------

By the Stream ((Starts Slow, up-temp towards 6th Stanza))
A man as walking 'long the stream,
when all at once he saw a dream,
A maid in dress of purest white,
her hair of gold, her smile brightHe stopped and stood, struck down with awe,
as such a maiden there he saw,
where he had known no-one to be,
least of all one as pretty as sheShe stopped the dancing she'd been at,
her hair it swirled and then lay flat,
and from her face a smile shone,
and within a moment the lad's heart goneHe stood and stared for far too long,
to leave her gazing so was wrong,
and yet the lad's poor tongue was stayed,
his mouth fixed open, thoughts betrayedSo she stepped up and moved up close,
His breath came fast, his colour rose,
She leaned on in and kissed his cheek,
the poor lad stood, his knees gone weakHer dress she dropped upon the grass,
his clothes she stripped and gripped his ass,
and pulling her on down with him,
She moved and writhed ‘til he slipped inAnd there upon the riverside,
the lad and lass were groom and bride,
and though a year or two has past,
the folk of town don't think it'll lastFor though she often lays with him,
She has no concept of the sin,
and oft goes out to walk again,
on the riverbank to meet more menAnd each and every one she beds,
spent many days with dizzy heads,
and each feels he's the only chap,
to fall into the lasses trapAnd so she passes all her days,
with many men in many ways,
and each one leaves with a cheerful smile,
and is at least happy. For a while.–--------------------------------------------------------------------
The Road Calls ((Translated from a traditional Rom ballad. Slow tempo, Best accompanied by flute))
The Road goes out from where I sit
And oft I dream to walk on it
The walls so close they hem me in
So many ways from here begin
Trapped, I sit and think and dream
Of other places to be seen
Of cities over distant plains
And to them, my heart, it aches and strains
And pulls at me to leave this seat
To try to make my soul complete
To walk with wind upon my face
And never stop long in one place
To drift with seasons, tides and beasts
To stop and sample lives, and feasts
But never to set down my roots
To wear through many a pair of boots
Until one day my soul finds rest
And in my tomb at last I'll nest
Though through the winds my spirit soars
For stopping, Shaundakul abhors
And in the final reckoning
My spirit will be beckoned still
To drift through planes i'll not have seen
And to visit places no-ones been
Until the gods themselves do fade
And finally my soul be stayed
And so I rise at last to the call
My seat I leave against this wall
And walk with my back to all I knew
To see what lies beyond my view.((Translated by Scholar unknown, Music by Ocean Fyne))

A Lad and a Lady were smitten in love
With golden bells and songsfrom above.
Their way laid with roses and sweet smelling blooms
And other things going on in private rooms. Now the Lad loved the Lady, and that is no lie.
And the Lady the Lad from his toes to the sky.
But though smitten they were the Lass wanted more,
A band on her finger, a child or four.So she asked him one day as they lay warm in bed,
With the lads legs all wobbly, no thoughts in his head.
Said the Lass to the Lad then 'So, when will we wed?'
Said the Lass to the Lad lying there in her bed.Now the Lad was no Slouch in the thinking department,
He knew this was leading to a joint owned Apartment,
But he wasn't quite ready for that much love yet,
So he asked if she'd settle for a nice blue carpet. The Lass was so happy, to think on such a thing,
A home set up soon, this just the beginning.
So she said 'Yes of course, you can get me one, Blue.
But I think we'll need more, at least one or two'By the end of the month they had carpets and rugs,
Dressers and wardrobes, cutlery, mugs.
Where to put it all was the next question they thought.
And so an Apartment they both jointly bought.By the end of two months they were in their new house,
And the Lad there was trapped. No more than a spouse.
But he said to himself as he counted his money,
'It's saved me the cost of a big ceremony!'–--------------------------------------------------------

//Agreed. this is just the version she's commited to paper
-
the first one isn't bad.. So please don't take this wrong, just don't think its up to par to the original version.. or maybe it was the third by the time I heard it
I remember seeing it come accross the screen and died laughing haha. Pity I didn't know how to take logs then I would send it to you. Still not bad at all considering I think you told me you were doing everything on the fly and not writing it down.
Alright enough criticism.. SING ON!
-
///Of course I wrote it myself And thank you
-
Hahaha! Great! I was laughing about the first song, did you write that yourself? Honest? Haha, like I said, great!
