Anger (Mather's Past)
-
Mather grew up in a poor village. He lived a quiet, happy life with his mother and father. Everyone in the village adored Mather, because he was an energetic child who made everyone smile, even if they were facing hard times. He had a brother and a sister. His brother, John Undershallows, was the eldest and was a part of the village militia. His sister, Elizabeth Undershallows, was the middle child and helped her mother at home. They lived a normal life of a peasent family, until one day…
Mather was helping his father with farm work, when he heard shouts. They came from the other side of the village. He looked to his father, who ran to the barn, picking up a pitch fork, then ran to see what was wrong. Mather ran to the house to tell the others in his family, but they knew because they heard the screaming as well. They packed thier things, in case they would have to run.
Mather's father came running back, shouting "Bandits!" The family then hurriedly grabbed thier packed things and ran out of the village for safety. One member of the family was missing.. John, who was a part of the militia and had to defend the village. The others left him to his duties, praying to the gods that he would survive, and continued to run to safety.
Mather looked back and saw his home burning and a few black masses coming at them. They where shouting and pointing into his direction. No matter how hard the family ran, they black masses continued to gain on them. Mather was getting tired from the running and began to slow down. The others where also getting tired as well, and began to lessen thier pace. But, the black masses seemed to never tire and soon the family realized that bandits where chasing them.
Elizabeth, to tired from running, stumbled over and was to tired to even get up. The bandits where very close now. The father rushed to his daughter's side when an arrow struck him in the chest. Elizabeth screamed and cried. Mather looked back and saw the arrow in his father's chest. He told his mother and they both ran back to aid him.
They where to weak from running, and could not drag thier injured father/husband. Soon, the bandits surrounded them. Thier where 3 bandits: One was an orc, another was a half-orc, and the third was the human who was holding the bow that shot the arrow that struck Mather's father. The half orc grabbed Elizabeth and started to rip her clothes off. The orc grabbed the mother, doing the same. The human looked at Mather and then his father. The bandit drew his sword, looking at Mather's father.
Mather knew what he was going to do and jumped in the way to defend his father. The bandit laughed saying," What are ya gunna do kid? Yer pa is as good as dead anyways and so is the rest of yer famliy here. Dont worry, you'll be gettin yer turn." Mather began to cry, though he didnt move. "I aint gunna tell ya again." The bandit hit Mather and Mather then stumbled to the ground. He tried to get up, but to late... He already saw the sword in his father's chest. "Take them to ladies back ta the village. We'll have fun with em later," the bandit told the orc and half-orc. They both laughed and walked off toward the village, carrying Mather's sister and mother in thier arms.
The human bandit remained and looked at Mather. "Here, I'll show ya what Im gunna do ta ya lad." The bandit raised his sword and chopped off Mather's father's head. "Best ya just stand still. Now, it might be hurtin a bit, but soon you'll join yer pa." Mather clenched his fists and looked right into the bandit's eyes. The bandit laughed and raised his sword, ready to strike the young Mather. Mather looked at his father again and shut his eyes, tears streaming down his face and his face very red. He clenched his fists so hard, that his knuckles where a bright white. "Why?" Asked Mather in an angry voice. The bandit laughed, lowering his sword. "Why? Yer father's life is worth stealin yer trash of a village. Though, them ladies ya had where very nice.. I'll be enjoyin them later on tonight. Heh heh." Mather grew hot with anger and sadness. The bandit was looking back at the village, grinning as he saw it burn.
As the bandit was looking away, Mather took his chance and ran head on into the bandit. The bandit tumbled over and Mather looked for anything he could use as a weapon... The arrow in his father's chest. Mather yanked the arrow from his father's chest and ran at the surprised bandit once again. Mather stabbed the bandit in the leg with the arrow. The bandit screamed in pain and hit Mather away, picking up his sword. "Yer gunna pay for that ya little shite!" He yelled. The bandit swung his sword at Mather and, to his own misfortune, missed and gave Mather another opportunity to strike. Mather made a direct hit to the stomach with the arrow. The bandit stumbled down on his back. Mather jumped on the bandit and began to stab him over and over. The bandit screamed, but it was a silent scream. Mather continued to stab, crying and cursing. For hours it seemed, Mather continued to attack the lifeless bandit, blood covering his clothes. Mather finally stopped his fury and stood, taking the bandit's sword and walking towards the village...
Mather arrived, to only find corpses of his village people. The bandits where gone and Mather was left alone. Mather wandered the village, only to find his brother's decapitated head on a stick at the entrance to the village. He clenched his fists once again, looking for something to direct his anger upon. He found a wounded man on the dirt road. He didnt know who he was, but he decided that this was his target. Mather ran at the man with the sword in his hands and started to strike the wounded man. Soon, the blood of his new victim was all over his already blood stained clothes. Mather wandered out of the village, heading back to his father's corpse. He slumped down next to the corpse, sobbing until no more tears could be made. Mather then looked to the bandit corpse, anger in his eyes. He walked to it, raising his sword, and then chopping off the bandit's head. He picked up and stared into the lifeless eyes. He put the head under his arms and began to wander in the opposite direction of the village, not knowing where he was going or what would lie ahead...
