Bushido, the true history of Doji Anotsu (Kagehisa)

  • Doji Anotsu Kagehisa had lived a lie in Narfell, though only two knew of it. His original home was not Kara-Tur, as he usually told those interested enough to ask. Truly his story went far further, over an uncomprehensable (at least to him) distance. His home was in the great Empire of Rokugan, in the family of the Crane. There wasn't one in Kara-Tur, as he had said to many. Truly, he is a descendant of Doji, founder of the Crane Clan, right hand to the Emperor Hantei. His father, the (to his knowedge) champion of the Crane, is Doji Kurohito. The Crane is a proud family, believing in not doing something unless they can do it perfectly. Anotsu had lived his entire life by this motife, following the Code of Bushido and the Code of Shinsei perfectly.
In youth, he had been somewhat sheltered. All of his time was devoted to studies of the teachings, calligraphy, warfare, iaijutsu, and the katana above all else. For 12 years he studied rigorously, doing all commanded by his many teachers, father, and Dameio. It had not been easy, but it was pleasant to the boy. He was sculpted into a perfect way of beliefs, unmoving as the Earth when it came to any. Doji truly would have been proud, and perhaps was from his spot in the Celestials. He passed the trials of the blade perfectly, and truly was he samourai. After this, his father granted to him the magnificent breastplate Unmei, an armor said to be so well crafted and engraved with Phoenix magic that it served as great armor without the weight and constriction on movement. This he wore proudly into his first battles, skirmishes and battles against the invading Crab Clan horde. During these 4 years, few things happened for him. His honor, determination, and discipline were fully acknowledged, and as such the Crane smiths of Kakita forged for him one of their mythical Hida Steel and Damask blades. Lightweight and flexible, with a damask lined blade of perfect honed edge, the Kakita smiths long had been revered as the greatest of master swordsmiths. Truly was he honored upon receiving this. Lastly upon his prized posessions, a beautiful and simple foreign seeming white outfit, Igen, gifted to him from the Mantis Champion, a by birth Scorpion named Yoritomo Aramasu, small time friend from one campaign.
Lastly, he met a female… Mia Tesuo. She was of the Lion, a common samourai to be exact. Though unknown to Anotsu at the time, she had become rotten to the core with Taint defending the Kaiu Wall. After some time and proper courting, they were married and Anotsu bedded the girl. Unheard of was this sin, for the love, taint, and Anotsu's discipline over the years. The morning after, he saw the marks of Taint which had extended to her skin. It was within scalp, under her long and thick red hair. He donned Igen, and Unmei over it. He slid the Kakita Katana into saya, well crafted dagger into Igen. Standing next to his sleeping bride, he drew forth the Kakita Katana and cut off her head in a single, far too merciful blow. After cleaning the blade, he fell to the ground and bowed to the Heavens once, drew forth the dagger, and with both hands on it stabbed it into his belly, twisting and slicing through his stomach silently. After many minutes, he fell to the floor in front of him.
With no clue how much time had passed or what had happened within, Anotsu awoke fully garbed within a small house. The design was quite similar to those of buildings in Rokugan, and he went outside. The first difference was the sky, far from the last.
[How he managed to walk across all of the continent to Faerun is, of course, another multi-year's worth of story.]

  • Historical archives are mostly for the xp-related stories. My advice is that he copies his story to his character's thread in Tales by the Fire and edits it there to his leisure.

  • Unlocking due to player request, he wants to edit some things. Said edits needed affect previous review, will lock when he's done.

  • Reviewed - XP Pending.
