New Dm's for the Camp?


  • Well I as a camper would like to make some nominations for who I would like to see take over the camp. Perhaps other campers want to add their votes. This is informal of course and the staff is under no obligation to follow these requests.

    I always go with the assumption if you don't ask for what you want you cant complain when you don't get it. that being said.

    The two Dm's that I think have the best feel for the camp other then Bel and Kerby, would be Kallethen and Gobbletom.

    I would like to see what Gobbletom would do as SDM. I would also love to see what the ranger/druid/sorc kitty Dm would do.

    Personally I think they both have the right feel for the camp and its woodsy homey themes.

    Of course if Bel wanted to come back he'd rock too and I do hope Kerby will pop in as a roaming Dm and as Kharbeh.

    I nominate me! then everyone will have pluffy green hair. hehe.

    But then again Im no DM. But I think someone who will continue and build upon the existing camp will be great.


  • Careful, Gobbletom might spread Strong frost traps in the inner camp if he's SDM 😉


  • I would move for a Friday meeting, May 27th. Times good for me would be anywhere after 1:00 PM ET. I idle in the GC IRC Channel, anywho.

    Thanks guys for the vote of confidence. I really don't want to see the camp go back to the way it used to be with no one there and no plots going on. PC ran is a bad idea as well because it never worked in the past. I think Kerby made an excellent SDM of the camp and would personally rather see him/her stay. I am sure though that the DM team will come up with a replacement soon, and any decisions on SDM are made by the team as a whole.

    I do think a camp meeting is in order soon though. Seems like US times are the most populated times for the camp so how about one in the next few days.

    Am very curious who the next sdm of gc will be, hopes will be one who is creative, playful and have enough time to commit and is active!


  • Thanks for the good words, but I'm going to decline being a SDM for now. I've still gotta get used to being a DM first. :oops:

    Yep! My first event is that all the merchants will go insane and give free gear to everyone! Yeaaaah! Actually, make Gobbletom the DM. I can't take the pressure.


  • I'm firmly set against the camp becoming a completely PC run town once again… It was 'not' an easy task getting an RDM down to the camp to run a small event.

    Part of the reason it was so empty back in the day was because the PC Elders held more power in the town then the DM's... which inevitably turned the DM's off from running any events. My guess is they were hard to please.

    I joined the camp while it was PC run, and although i was told that it used to work quite well... from what I saw while living there... it didn't work well at all... we barely had any players... just the few die hards... and DM's made a point of staying the hell away from us.

    Believe me... PC run is not the road we want to take. More stories and events were forged in the couple months that kerby and bel took over than I've ever seen in my entire time at the camp... well over a year now.

    Now... As for new camp DM's.. I agree that Gobbletom and Kallethen would make excellent additions. Both of them know pretty well the Romani ways... Acme Falls is still around too, maybe she could show them the ropes 🙂

    P.S. A camp meeting of sorts would be a great idea I think... Even better if we could get some DM's in to share their thoughts as well

    Gobble has run some nice stuff there already with his plot. So he'd get my vote.

    I don't mind as long Kerby's massive amounts of work don't get lost and wasted by turning the place into aghost town again.

    I have a horrible time keeping track of Forum/IRC/Character/DM names, but I think Gobbletom is Klick Kill, right? I believe he'd be good, as well, as I think his style fits well enough with the camp. I have absolutely no idea what name Kallethen DMs under . . .

    Zyphlin, Oreth and I have been discussing the camp situation, and we sort of feel it'd be interesting to see the camp go back to how it (apparently) once was, entirely Player-run with RDM support, but that's not to say we don't want an SDM. Belthor was "teh 4w3s0m3," as I hear. Damn Jiyyd for taking him away from us! 😜

    Perhaps a Camp Player meeting is in order? I know those used to occur on a semi-regular basis, back in "the day," but they haven't, lately, I know. A little discussion of affairs would be nice.
