Elrien The Elf
-
Elrien The Elf was born to Elriad and Gwelindale. He had three other siblings, his two brothers Elfad and Eren, and his sister Glefin. They were from a group of Elfs in a forest region. These Elves were not normal though. They did not interact with the outside world, for the most part. His People had very little knowledge of the outside world, knowing of only two things: Archery and their way of life.
His People began training young ones in Archery at the age of five. They were pushed hard, travelling night and day, travelling through tough weather conditions, and facing fearful enemies. His People had a deep hatred inside themselves for the Orcs, as many times the Orcs would invade their lands, killing anyone in sight.
Elrien was of thirty years of age at this time. One night, as all was quiet in his village, the Orcs attacked with a great army. His People had never seen this many Orcs, but nonetheless fought against them. The battle went on for seven hours. Himself and his two brothers went to help his People fight these Orcs. Since his People excel in Archery, they hid in the bushes and in the tree's, firing upon the Orcs.
The Orcs had broughten torches, lighting the trees on fire. Many of his People were slain in this war. After the seven hours, the Orc retreated, having suffered many casualties. But his People..they suffered many casualties as well..but suffered one thing the Orcs did not..their home.
The whole forest in which his village had been was destroyed, except for a bit in which his People had held off. Elrien was one of very few survivors. During the attacks, the Elven women had fled South, into another forest with about two hundred armed Rangers.
After the war, the Elves went around, collecting their dead, and bringing them into the centre of their destroyed forest. Elrien had lost his two brothers, as Orcs had ambushed them. He managed to kill them, but not before they had gotten his brothers. His sister was still alive, with his mother and father.
His People knew they had to start anew. They started a new village in the forest to the South, making its borderling very tightly secured. Soon, their population began to slowly grow. Their village became, over time, bigger then their previous.
By the time Elrien was of sixty years of age, his People were finally back to where they had been before. They had trained their forces extra hard, increasing their skill in Archery. Some of these Elves wished to form an elite squad. His People did not like the idea. So this band of Elves left his People, and are known today as the "Rangers Of The Southern Forest."
Happy times followed for the next forty years. His people began to expand throughout the whole forest, having the borderline secured heavily by Rangers. His People had begun to, little by little, interact with the outside world. They began to trade with merchants who walked about, buying new bows and arrows for their Rangers.
Elrien, now one hundred years of age, was one of the best of Archery in his People. He had been trained by a man of unmatchable Archery skills, perhaps the best Ranger there ever was. Just as his people had begun to trust the people of the outside world, there came a devastating event.
One day, some Rangers came running to the Village Council. They reported seeing "Ten to fifteen men in robes are headed towards our forest." The Council decided to send out a few Rangers, one of those was Elrien's close friend, Erelatif. The Rangers went through the gates to meet these men.
The rest of his Peoples' Rangers were lined across the platforms running from tree to tree, watching the men. The Rangers finally got to the men, talking briefly, before one man put his hand out towards them, and the Rangers watching saw the other Rangers fall dead. Immediatly, the Rangers began fire upon the men, killing all of them. This ended his People's trust with the outside world.
After this attack, Elrien became curious of the outside world, as did many others. They decided to leave the village and seek knowledge, for which they lacked. They promised they would return one day, and teach all of their people about what they had learned.
His People did not take so kindly to this. When Elrien and the four hundred other Elves leaving went out the gates, the gates were slammed shut, and the Cheif yelled out "You are hereby banished from this land, traitors! Ifwe see ANY of you around here, you will be killed on the spot!"
Elrien and the men ran, running as far away as they could. After thirty days of traveling, they decided to make a settlement in an area near a river. This settlement still is around today, known by few. Elrien did not stay in the making, he left the next day with only seventy others. They came across many enemies, expecially Orcs. They gave themselves the title "The Elite Rangers of the Southern Forest."
After stopping many times along their travels, leaving each time with few and fewer Elves, they finally came across Jiyyd, where Elrien felt inside him this is where he was to stay. He became a citizen of the town shortly after, as well as some of the other Elves.
He has not ventured back to his homeland, in fear of still being killed, but he has promised himself one day he will. What has happend of the Elves he travelled with, he does not know, but suspects some of them being some of the sop owners around the city's, as well as rumours reaching his ears of an Elven Settlement south of Norwick.
The adventures of Elrien The Elf will go on, until the day that he dies.
