Jiyyd Rumors

*Lyte stumbles through the gates of Jiyyd, limping badly. Her sword has small chips along it's fine edge, and her armor is badly damaged. She is covered, head to toe, in blood, seemingly more than she could possibly have in her whole body.
It drips behind her as she walks, and she leaves bloody footprints back towards the western defense.
She pauses at the spot where she normally stands guard, and nearly topples over as she undoes her gore splattered helm, letting it fall to the ground with a splat in the dust of the afternoon.
Sheathing her sword, she mumbles something about scores of the enemy's finest shock troop giants being no more…stopping mid sentence, as she gapes open mouthed at the opening gates behind her.
A long line of Norwick residents, militia, shopkeepers trudge within. Many are wounded. Few have possessions. It seems endless.
Norwick, barbarian village reknown, home to many beloved characters reknown far and wide, has fallen.
Lyte sits down hard on the rock she was standing on, shocked by the news from the first bedraggled refugee.
Other defenders rush out bravely towards Norwick, led by Genzir, the Master of the Keep, in an attempt to take back the village.
Lyte, once past the initial feelings of horror, prudently issues orders for wagons to loaded with spare wooden baracades for Sam's Hill, to be sent at once to tie to the defenses that are already in place.
Then, now alone with the available shields having rushed towards Norwick, she trudges slowly back to the forgotten Jiyyd western gates that had so recently been the scene of such very hot action, picking her way over dead elite giant warriors and corpses of giant shieldmaidens, to stand stiffly once more at the sadly broken gates.
Looking off south, she thinks of her old home, long pillaged and burned, and, gritting her teeth, prepares to make a stand.*

Ghosting around the war-torn Jiyyd, an elven woman, dressed in the leafy raiment and plain colours of a forest dweller or ranger may recently be observed. Always carrying an elven bow in hand, she appears to have been observing the comings and goings, but always eschewing combat with the surges of foes who splash and ebb against the walls. When mischief threatens, she melts away into the trees swiftly, and is soon gone.

Dentin entered Jiyyd one night. This wouldn't be an unusual thing, if not that he was not carrying any of his usual equipment. Even more notable, was the absence of his mechanical leg. Though he answers questions about the loss of his equipment to the orcs with a pragmatic "I will make due", he does feel the loss of his armor and the ancient warhammer he had been using for some years now.

Rumors emerge of a bloody fight in the pit below the Whore. Apparently a tall, blonde barbarian woman and a heavily armored half-orc went down there, only to find themselves faced with many moving shadows. They survived thanks to the appearance of some others. Later some more shadows were encountered right outside the Whore, a fight breaking lose and another woman ending up very weakened by some strange spell. Last she was seen being escorted by the half-orc and a warrior of the Guardians to the temple.

A tired looking red head is seen leaving the Sisterhood to stroll as far out as the gates then back again; her voice barely above a whisper now when she speaks to those that greet her. However, for any that venture close enough to the Sisterhood, a somber feeling floats in the air as everything about the place seems to be withering, from plants to people. The constant singing of the Heyokarr death songs is heard lingering about the area as one pale red head practices the songs, her seeming to grow weaker and more worn looking every day.

Not very long after the previous happening at all, a grumpy dwarf goes to temple muttering about effin eejits wha think it's a guid idea tae whack against magic shieldy hitting back things. Nae a coo'ard at aw. Effin eejits the loat o' 'em, tha's whit.

Word spreads that the coward.. as so many thought he was, Commander Aelthas Benthur of the Gypsy Guard has died defending Jiyyd. His body was taken to the dwarven temple.

On a stranger note the Norwick scouts stationed atop the hill report the witch Chaevre' Vaelen or the dark enchantress as some call her, stationing herself atop the hill over looking the field, when a talkative gnome began to chat her up she turned him to stone, some time later the same woman who turned the gnome to stone was talking to the elf arikess, and seemingly asking why there was a gnome statue, before she pulled out a scroll and reversed the spell, Arikess reported that she walked up here moments ago and must have turned the gnome to stone, which of course she insisted she did not, the gnome momentss after being returned to his normal state started chatting her up again, and she promptly turned him back into a statue and then wandered off.

Cyrian was noted to be fully re-equipped and returned to the battlefield ready to fight again in case the orc push had managed to break through the defenders lines, he was thankful when he found that the orcs were pushed back and the line held strong by several defenders, many among those who were singing praises to Tempus for glorious battle, Cyrian was heard commenting on the strangeness of so many people singing praises to tempus and not to their own gods, he was also heard muttering about how it seemed that this war was simply a tribute to tempus disguised in the blood of hundreds dead, when the singinging to tempus continued he muttered under his breath that the glorious battle in the name of tempus could very well end up with the death of all the defenders and the massacre of the village, hsi last words were, "where will tempus be when that happens" before he stormed off

Rumors say that in addition to Genzir Seth and Fignar, the fallen included Cyrian, Raver, Will, and Lilly when the orcs counterattacked.

_The typical catapult fire came from within the plains. The defenders fired back, though their catapults could not reach far enough. Annoyed, the defenders made a plan to push them back and perhaps destroy the orc's artillery.
They charged! Orcs and giants fell before the group. It seemed as if they were unstoppable. The mass of giants barely even gave the group a scratch. The orc's artillery was successfully destroyed…
...feeling confident, the group decided to go deeper and towards the old orc fortress. A grave mistake. An endless sea of orcs charged at the group, forcing them in a retreat within seconds. Though, some did not make it. The orcs cut down Genzir, Seth, and the dwarven cleric known as Fig (forgot his full name). The others rushed back to the wall, badly injured, with the orcs behind them.
The orcs, in a rage, clashed against the defenders back at Jiyyd's defenses, killing several others until they were eventually pushed back onto the plains. Thus far, this was the worst day the Jiyyd defenders have faced in this war.
All who fell are believed to be raised and resting._

A few days after the gypsies have withdrawn, a handful of Norwick Scouts appear to have taken up their former postion on the cliff. They take part in patrolling the west side of the battlements and keep an eye out for threats from the crossroads as well.

tala after scouting in the orc lands and helping repell and attack on the gates goes to visit the band of Pink Armed Gypsy Guard on the long road outside Jiyyd. After promising to carry back messages and to return with tea and ginger cookies she makes her way home.
-
There's talk in Jiyyd about what conveniently short memories the gypsies have. Upon hearing that the campers have withdrawn from the war on Jiyyd, dismayed citizens remind their neighbours how Jiyyd welcomed gypsy refugees with open hearts and homes when the camp was overrun with gnolls, and how several Jiyyd citizens came to their aid fighting gnolls to regain their forest home.

It seems some mystical magicness occurred at the battle front in which first a male and then a femal drow teleported in. The woman commented on the primitiveness of the defences and teleported out despite Winter's best efforts to engage her in cheerful banter.
A short while later an armoured minotaur attacked and was defeated by Glognar with some help from uchi and Winter, Winter claiming the massive beasts two bladed axe and now wandering around with it on her shoulder.
-
According to some witnesses, ranging from confused to annoyed or enraged, Elissa known servant of an unspeakable goddess has come to the battlefield after a terrible onslaught of giants was defeated and apperently at least under tolerance from the legion retrieved an item off a giant and took of with it, promising to try her best to bring bad luck onto the giants.
-
_Seems another small attack came, this time a group of goblins was held off by Aelthas, the Commander of the Gypsy Guards by himself. Although this proved to just be a distraction.
Two orc archers made their way up ladders onto the west hill and it seemed they planned it out well. Blocking the ramp up the hill with boulders and raining arrows down on the defenders, causing most of them to run for healing.
After breaking down they blockade the group of people went onto the hill and found the five Gypsy Archers who normally guard the hill, dead. The bodies were carried off to the camp._

Often, Keira accompanies Jerr in his ministrations to the fallen giants or his conversations with the Giant ale-carriers that often visit after particularly glorious engagements. This goodwill and care doesn't detract from the accuracy of her archery on the earthworks, or her viciousness when foes do climb the ramparts to threaten her and those she's near.
If anything, she's achieved some calm detachment in the midst of all the bloodshed.
