Jiyyd Rumors

Grak can be heard snickering among the crowd
_"Har har har har, Grak bets 50 coins that this villain walks freely in no time among the peaceful villagers like Grak. If this happens it gives Grak another fine exsample of huuuumie law, eh?

"Grak thinks that it only concerns all other races than huuuumies themselves. Hmph.. Like all of ya rumormongers here know, Grak knows huuuumie laws well. In this case, huuuumie law is clearly written in da book of laws. It says huuuumies own recommended sentence for this foul deed is that villain is declared banned with public punishment or death. Doesnt this mean stoning to death as well, eh?"

    starts to collect some stones

But if huuuuumies let this dangerous villain to walk away without any reprimand, Graks belief in huuuumie laws is gone for good. What use to follow such laws, if huuuuumies themselves are above it, eh?_

  • In a startling burst of altruism, Keira volunteers some information to the Jiyyd authorities.

_'Two hins, brown armor, one with goggles on? They were breaking the place up earlier, trashing benches, throwing bottles around. No watch to be found, so couldn't get them arrested. Tried to calm them down, tell them not to be so difficult. Ask Uchi, Winter, Gears, Vesper or Serenity what they were doing.

'If it's the same pair, that Raver killed, they're no great loss._

  • Rumors fly about the arrest of Raver Morrison, Commander of the Gypsy Camp Black Warriors, for killing two hins in Jiyyd because they were setting fires in town. As she walked away with Lyte, she was heard to say:

The torches they were carryin' made 'em easy targets.

Later, after battling gnomes on the Long Road, she was seen bringing her husband's body back to the Healer's in Jiyyd, and over heard asking Lyte:

Do ye want me to pay a fine for killin' gnomes too?

  • On note from the legion members, and because she gets to test out her magics, Mina can be seen gathering groups and patrolling the pass to insure the giants don't attempt to reopen the cave entrance when the people of jiyyd aren't looking.

  • _*The Legion General Lyte is seen beleaguered with questions from crafters and forest folk about the need to blow the front entrance to the worg caves, rather than the back entrances, or perhaps taking a more environmently friendly approach and shaping the cave entrance temporarily.

Phrases of "a huge army" together with "bugbear assassins", "elite orcs and pointy sticked orcs and archer orcs", "goblin archers and elites" and "a phalanx of frost giants covered by a flying white dragon" can be made out from the gathered group, and the crafters and rangers and druids disperse quietly afterwards, with large, impressed looking eyeballs in their faces.

Whatever happened out east, it seems to have been of very great concern to everyone involved. Many townspeople talk of vacations to beloved relatives in Norwick and Peltarch they have been meaning to see, and villagers look at the new southern cliff with a more appreciate eye than before they heard these scary, new rumors.*_

  • A chill, bitter wind blows from the east, the moon is blotted out by a huge winged silhouette, war drums are heard from the south, then fade. A band of Legionnaires led by Lyte join a circle of wizards standing ready at the east gate. A short time later, they run out the gate carrying a dozen kegs of smokepowder. Scarcely an hour after that, a low rumble comes from the east, followed by a band of satisfied Legionnaires and wizards, and a crafter or two (slightly less satisfied). The entrance to the worg-filled cave has been collapsed, and orcs won't be coming from that direction anytime soon.

  • Word spreads that several adventurers including a few Legionaires under the command of General Lyte blew the entrance of the worg cave. It would seem that several new tribe orcs, goblins, and bugbears were gathered outside the cave with archers along the cliff edges, no doubt guarding something important, possibly some of their leaders. Some may have heard the explosion from Jiyyd.

  • _Wolf thanks the soldiers for the food and drink with a small smile. The hill seems to be almost complete and will be in a few days. It is hoped that it will stop all orcs coming from the south if a large battle should come.

Once the hill is done, Wolf can be seen wandering to the east, toward the worg cave…. seems he has another project in mind._

  • *Jiyydians cant help but gape in wonder at the large, looming new hill that has risen beyond and all along the southern wall of the town, under the direction of the druid who is often seen about Jiyyd. It's slope is steep, with prickly green tendrils of some odd plants begining to sprout along it's top.

This barrier seems formidable, and legion soldiers are often seen carrying trays of food and drink out to the hard working druid named Wolf.*

  • In response to the talk of the Caravan being waylaid in the Nars Pass, Danaley again states that the Guardians are ready and able to assist in the guarding of any caravans traveling the pass and the nearby surrounds if they are contacted beforehand.

  • Caravan waylaid in Nars, Hobgoblins suspected

The reasonably newly formed Splinter Group of adventurers, led by the fearless and upbeat Winter Wolf, discovered several bodies, burning carts and scattered goods half-concealed behind a stand of trees near the Bridge in the Nars Pass. The valuables seemed to have been stripped and, moe disturbingly some of the corpses had been mutilated and maybe even eaten.

With admirable concern for justice and safety they set off into the hobgoblin caves under the watchful eye of the Legendary Scutum Hedges to see if any could be rescued or goods salvaged. It was not to be, though. Fighting grimly through the slightly surprised domestic hobgoblins, they came at last to a large cauldron, simmering gently with the stewed flesh of unfortunate innocents!

  • Gypsy guards in front of the Sisterhood compound have been discussing the recent gruesome find of three ears on the body of a dead drow. The drow, among a group that had recently attacked and killed the helmites on duty at the camp on the long road, was in turn killed by Raryldor, Vell'cam, Nicahh, and Aelhaearn with most if not all of the party it was with.

The big-boned elf discovered the three ears and soon after delivered one into the custody of Ginger who arrived on the scene shortly thereafter. The guards saw Aelhaearn wrap and pocket the other two ears, catching the word "human" carried on the crisp night air.

  • _After the latest attack of the spider demons, Sinu'selira was seen crouching under a tree next to the archer tower mumbling coarse curses in elvish and breaking a considerable amount of her black, barbed arrows in half.

Later she dragged one of the half-eaten corpses of the brave Jiyyd guards to Vroka's, and soon after that retreated somewhere with a book on elven magic tightly clung on her hands._

  • _Nasty spidery horrors with the voices of children scaled the walls in the night and slew some guards before they were slain, in turn, by Genzir and Sinu'selira. Popular opinion blames the drow, since the attack happened at night, and… the things look a bit like spiders.

Jerr and Keira missed that particular attack but something had beaten the elf quite badly, since Jerr was tending her various injuries with magic and mundane healing._

  • @a2e05c8a49=Karnivor:

…Instead of being jailed, the troublemaker was fined and escorted to the Legion Hall, to spend some quality time in the cells there....

Damian frowns after catching word of this and is heard to comment:

The law must be followed. There are to be no exceptions.

Soon afterwards he leaves a message with Justine discussing the issue

  • As stories of the last few days are passed around and compared by the townsfolk, certain details become clear: these horrors came in waves, a new wave of them every night.

On the first night, the horrors were beaten back by at the approach to the plains.

The second night, a powerful host guarded the town, while a small band of wizards went out to meet the creatures on the plains and, after a request for back-up was answered only by one druid, annihilated the horrors in a great show of fire, lightning, and giant green hands.

The third night, nobody went out to the plains, though there was some fear of drow on the road or an attack on Norwick, and word has it the Helmite camp was destroyed.

The fourth night, a powerful host guarded the plains and brought down the final, gargantuan attacker.

  • _Jiyyd was bombarded by spiders and demons for the past few nights. Including one very large demon that took almost all the known heroes of Narfell to destroy. Several heroes were slain throughout the course of the nights, which included: Seth, Jeremy, Sywyn, Raver, and Abner. They bravely fought off spiders, horrors, and a nightmare, juggernaught demon that came from the spider cave in the plains. Drow were also spotted, but they did not fight anyone directly.

It seems the dark elves have become very serious after the death of the witch._

  • The druid Wolf is seen walking through Jiyyd toward the south gate on a daily bases. For several hours, druidic chanting is heard on the other side of the gate. It seems he is making the earth rise into the form of a wall. When asked about it he simply says, "Defense." Each day the wall seems to get bigger and bigger, and when he finishes a portion for the day he looks very worn.

  • Upon hearing that the drow was slain Juster immeadiately begins searching for those present to ask if the witch was searched for ears.
