Jiyyd Rumors

  • A grave-eyed Ragnhild enquires of the returning adventurers if there were any survivors of this latest attack on Ormpur. She also visits the temple and any other place that might shelter refugees from the remote villlage, searching for any clues to the fate of the family of Asha, the little Ormpurian girl in her care.

  • ((A tad late, but no one else did it, so I am. Thanks to Nilla for this nerve racking event, it had my heart pumping 🙂 )).

_A group of powerful adventurers came to the town of Jiyyd from the east. They all looked worn and beat up, as if they had fought an army of giants… which they did. Talks about the town say that Ormpur is in complete rubble, and that some of the townsfolk there that wished to stay.. were slaughtered.

It seems the group came to Ormpur in this horrid state and found that the frost giants had done this. They traveled up the mountain, for whatever reason, to fight the frost giants at their home. They were forced to retreat from the heavy resistance they faced and the sheer biting cold that was on the mountain....

The group consisted all manner of people such as mages, druids, Legion, Sails, and bards. None fell to the mountain, which is quite lucky considering what they faced.

A cold wind now blows from the east._

  • Many of the towns cows and bulls are seen wandering northward out of their pens one day in the commons, followed by the sounds of a battle at the cave and south gate of the town.

The bodies of fallen ogrish shamans and mages lay at the south gates, and it's rumored that Nicahh and a couple of legion folk held the gate in a tough fight.

The next day, rumors of a huge ogre attack in the Silver Valley reaches the ears of the Jiyyd townsfolk, and people begin to wonder what ogres could possibly want with little Jiyyd.

  • Various legion members under the direction of General Lyte can be seen forming expeditions out east and west from Jiyyd over the past couple weeks, hauling in lumber, ore and foodstuffs to the legion hall for an unstated project. The effort seems organized and efficent, and the sight of sleds and wagons bearing resources are common around the hall.

  • _Meanwhile, the gradually aging Shane is not seen within the town of Jiyyd for several weeks, remaining steadfast within the temple. Rumors abound that she's broken all ties with the Divine Shield, and refuses to speak with anyone, not even close friends, keeping herself in solitude and prayer, apparently oblivious to the troubles.

Now, another rumor slowly spreads that her armour, sword and shield was found upon her bunk, carefully polished, with a short but decisive message._

    @9f2d6cbb0c:

By the Vigilant's will this was worn to serve and spread His word through deed and action. By my will, may it now find one more worthy than I have been, that His desire remains fulfilled.

    • S. Andryl

_From that day on, no trace is found anymore in or near Jiyyd of Shane. Some say that she left the town in the dead of night without a further word, under guise of cloak, though none can either confirm or disprove this mention.

Others say that old age finally caught up to her, and that those who don't remain eternally dead, in the end still do die._

  • _Apon hearing Jerr, Juster also offers his help if trappers are needed.

On a totally different note. Rumours float around about a magical cow that was to be excorted to Pelt. Rumours say that two helmed hins in black and blue tried to steal the cow in the middle of the nars. One of the hins seemed to only speak hinnish while the other spoke common very well and was also very skilled with animals, almost getting away with the cow before it was tied up and dragged in the other direction. It doesn't seem like anyone got hurt…but could there be a new threat to travelers?_

  • General Lyte, upon hearing of the attack upon the Featherlights, is seen immediately offering to assist Jerr in any way she can to help the tribe in it's plight.

"If a meeting with the Featherlights can be arranged, I will be glad to come so that we can meet and offer each other assistance in defending against this new alliance of enemies."

  • Jerr turns up a day after the drumming was heard from the Featherflight camp looking for more trappers to help at least slow down the passage to the south. He looks stretched to the edge and his face is grey as he finds materials and speaks with a few people before heading back to the southern camp.

  • Large puffs of smoke can be seen filling the sky south west of Jiyyd as the faint smell of burning flesh floats in the air. The sound of ceremonial drumming is heard throughout the valley, as word spreads the Featherflights faced quite a loss of men, as bugbears and goblins tore through their village making their way towards the orc fields. Of particular interest is the rumor that the chief of the small tribe of barbarian men is dead, leaving many to wonder what is to become of his people.

  • Silver Valley townsfolk that pass through Jiyyd mention that there seems to be some kind of animal migration occurring in the valley and around it, with a lot of animal movement from the west side of the valley to the east side.

  • Milshot can be seen moving about town regularly now. Coming and going from the inn and the Legion Hall, he is seen wandering around from time to time looking here and there as if orienting himself better to his surroundings. His armor is dyed with legion colors and he asks all those in the legion that he comes across if there is anything he can do for them. Not being practiced at the art of saluting, he manages to poke his good eye more than once as he tries to snap a quick salute.

  • _A yuan-ti mage walked right into Jiyyd, seeming not to fear attack from guards or adventurers around the fire. The commoners looked a tad nervous.

The Yuan-ti asked for the Legion General, Grag for a "parlay." They then went to the Legion hall, followed by the Keeper of Spellweaver Genzir, General Lyte, Wolf of the Circle, Tolin, and Abner. They came out several hours later, including the Yuan-ti, who was still alive and in one piece. It seems their talk might have gone well._

  • Two trouble-makers came into town recently and killed several cows, nearly getting themselves killed by said cows in the process. A large crowd gathered when one of them went down and cried out for help. The two trouble-makers were later seen with Sywyn, Jeremy, Zeldor, and Elridith, escorting a ghostly blue "enchanted cow" out the west gate and down the road. Genzir informed the guard that replacement cows will soon be coming from Peltarch.

  • (on a completely unrelated note)

Word has it that Natanya was threatning to kill Taria in the crossroads, after an exchange of words between the two. Two other sails were seen standing their ground firmly beside Taria, until Natanya headed back north again.

  • The rather infamous old sellsword Jeremy Steel has been seen sporting a somewhat different swordhilt than normal. A symbol of Mystra has been etched into one side, while the other side has a symbol of the bitch queen etched into it.

  • Milshot, formerly of Norwick, is seen making his way into Jiyyd pulling a small cart loaded with small crates and boxes. He makes his way to the inn where he pays to have his goods looked to and then heads in the direction of the Council building. Being there for a short while he then makes his way through town nodding and smiling to those he meets as he wanders in the direction of the Legion Hall.

  • An undistinct looking messenger boy approached the paladin known as Elenwyd in the commons, and delivered a love poem and a silver necklace to her. Apparently, the identity of the person who hired him is unknown. Those who travel a lot may know that a similar thing happened to her in Norwick not long ago.

  • _Adventurers travelling the long road will notice the reduced hobgoblin presence on the way to Jiyyd. Helmite patrols are regular, and a persistent presence is maintained in front of the Sisterhood compound. Some have also mentioned the greater level of activity of the older orc tribe in the central plains, including a recent foray by an orc magi that drove off a hobgoblin patrol, back towards the Helmites at the crossroad where they were promptly dispatched.

A small party of adventurers from Jiyyd killed the magi in question and pushed back any other orcs in the immediate vicinity._

  • A large group of adventurers return from the deep woods of Mintas, bringing with them a pale and shaken man, along with several corpses. Word is that a caravan of some sort was assailed by bugbears who killed all but one of the mercenaries escorting it. The beasts were slain by the intrepid adventurers, and the sole survivor escorted to the (relative) safety of Jiyyd.
