Jiyyd Rumors

  • The rather infamous old sellsword Jeremy Steel has been seen sporting a somewhat different swordhilt than normal. A symbol of Mystra has been etched into one side, while the other side has a symbol of the bitch queen etched into it.

  • Milshot, formerly of Norwick, is seen making his way into Jiyyd pulling a small cart loaded with small crates and boxes. He makes his way to the inn where he pays to have his goods looked to and then heads in the direction of the Council building. Being there for a short while he then makes his way through town nodding and smiling to those he meets as he wanders in the direction of the Legion Hall.

  • An undistinct looking messenger boy approached the paladin known as Elenwyd in the commons, and delivered a love poem and a silver necklace to her. Apparently, the identity of the person who hired him is unknown. Those who travel a lot may know that a similar thing happened to her in Norwick not long ago.

  • _Adventurers travelling the long road will notice the reduced hobgoblin presence on the way to Jiyyd. Helmite patrols are regular, and a persistent presence is maintained in front of the Sisterhood compound. Some have also mentioned the greater level of activity of the older orc tribe in the central plains, including a recent foray by an orc magi that drove off a hobgoblin patrol, back towards the Helmites at the crossroad where they were promptly dispatched.

A small party of adventurers from Jiyyd killed the magi in question and pushed back any other orcs in the immediate vicinity._

  • A large group of adventurers return from the deep woods of Mintas, bringing with them a pale and shaken man, along with several corpses. Word is that a caravan of some sort was assailed by bugbears who killed all but one of the mercenaries escorting it. The beasts were slain by the intrepid adventurers, and the sole survivor escorted to the (relative) safety of Jiyyd.

  • *General Lyte can be seen in the company of a gnome who is carrying an odd spyglass device mounted on three tall wooden legs with a long spool of string attached to it. He is mumbling about "inordinate precision" as Lyte leads him west out of town, and she marches quickly out of town carrying a good number of longish maplike scrollcases, and a black book.

Later she is seen at various point along the three gates inside the town walls. She stands at various points, holding the end of the string and a red pennant, as the gnome peers at her through the device at from a good distance away.

Some speculate Lyte might be preparing to have her portrait done up, or that she is being measured for a fancy dress. Others think it has something to do with measuring a crime scene, while still others speculate the legion General and milita Sgt. is contemplating improving wall defenses yet a second time in the past six months.*

"Why dont they spend our tax coin on another tavern, instead o' these stupid walls, comments one of the less employed farmhands. We only got th' one place ta drink, but we gots FOUR walls already!"

  • Locals speak of a series of small attacks upon Jiyyd with bugbears and goblins leading the attacks while a few of the more skilled orcs from the newer tribe were seen stealing goods from merchants across town. Many were surprised the exotic shop in Jiyyd was left untouched, while basic supplies like oil, rations, healing kits and potions were taken instead.

  • An old man appeared, fell over tired and snored off. As such not worthy of a rumor, what might have baffled some people, though, is that a group of almost a dozen more adventerous people flocked around the sleeping man discussing such funny topics as i. e. whether the badger was shot, should be shot, wasn't in fact guilty, or had just been the victim of a whim. At the end of their discussion they split, a good part of the adventurers supposedly stepping into a mysterious light. What happened to those that entered is a different question.
((Thanks, Yith 🙂 mutters about all the people who went to the event entirely but seem to think a shaft of light is such an everyday occurance in Jiyyd))

  • A group of adventurers went into the woods, apparently for no other reason than to look at the local sights, that means trolls. On their return they carry quite some odd loot, among the things they openly wore was a deepwater cloak and a deepwater amulet. It is quite obvious they did not only meet trolls in the swamp.

  • A big demon dropped down in Jiyyd and caused a big stink, literally. While no one was hurt from the malodorous stench, it's said that Tindra had passed out from it.

Later in the day, after she had cleaned up and was smelling like roses, she was seen spending some time in a private room at the inn with Jerr. The two were last seen heading west and north.

  • Rumors spread around town that a group consisting of Nicahh, Aelhaearn, Lyte, Grag, Genzir, Abner, Wolf, Elridith and Raryldor were seen entering Jiyyd, looking like they'd been chewed on a tiny bit. Although that is nothing truly unusual, what is strange is the news they brought with them. It seems the orcs have taken their war for control into the woods surrounding Mintas, driving the dire animals that live their into the surrounding caves. Most upsetting is the rumor that goblins and bugbears were seen fighting side by side with the new faction of orcs against the old tribe.

  • Those passing by the Sisterhood hall may see a lone piece of parchment tacked to the door. It resists the snow and moisture staying dry and legible at all times, and seems written in a neat and orderly hand.

    <uc>Greetings Drow,

Notice I did nothing, until you attempted to touch this door. Attempt to touch this door again, and I will track you down, and hurt you far far worse this time. I will bring Shiny if I need to, and have him make sure you regenerate back whatever I remove. Keep this in mind.

    Have a nice day.</uc>

At the bottom of the note is a glowing symbol of what appears to be a crimson wren. ((For those who have never asked, that is Peppy's mage sigil))

  • _Cyricists in Jiyyd

After several attacks by demons and spider-creatures, a Legionnaire and a few others tracked them to the old werewolf cave on the East Road.

A priestess of Cyric was killed there, and four chests of armor and weapons taken. It appears the Cyricists were planning to arm a larger force.

At least one escaped, as the group faced more summoned creatures on the way north to Peltarch, to have Daisy destroy the priestess' weapon and armor.

The non-magical armor and weapons were brought to the Helmite temple in Jiyyd, to assist in arming soldiers for the coming conflict._

  • Upon the return from a trip to supply firewood to the needy in Ormpur, the blonde warrioress Ragnhild carries a little girl wrapped in warm furs on her shoulders. She and the others of the travelling party can be overheard discussing the harsh cold in the village, as well as another attack by the frost giants. The girl seems to be a refugee under Ragnhild's personal care, and the two soon set off together towards the gypsy camp.

Roughly a week later, word spreads about trouble of a different nature stirring near Mintas. A large party of adventurers, lead by Legionnaires Theaon and Kull, apparantly encountered a number of skeletal warriors in the forest. It is said the undead army did not persue the adventurers beyond the woods themselves, seemingly content to drive them out from "their" turf.

  • _Genzir is seen asking about what is needed in Ormpur. One who followed the conversations closely would pick up that he and the banned wizard Ezachiel were planning to use their magic to deliver supplies of food and warm clothing to the holdouts.

Anyone who makes it into Ormpur itself will notice some extra bags of blankets and warm clothes, and boxes of food on the floor of the Fuzzy Ale Inn._

  • General Lyte can be seen setting up a donation box at the intersection near the inn and general merchants shop in Jiyyd. She explains that while many Ormpurians are being evacuated from Ormpur due to the cold, many are still there, and some are electing to not abandon their homes, even though supplies are low.

The side of the box reads

_"Donations of food and warm clothes for Ormpur are appreciated. These will be delivered to those citizens of Ormpur who elect to remain behind as we continue to evacuate it's other citizens.

Thank you for your good wishes and aid.

    -The Troff Legion"_

  • _A large group of adventurers were sighted travelling out to East to Orhmpur. Their conversation overheard by the locals revealed their intetions that they were to survey the damages of cold winter and giant raids Orhmpur had been suffering from for some time and to deliver any forms of aide they could as well.

Days later, they returned with most of them wearing a somber expression still but a resolved one nonetheless. It was heard that they will return to Orhmpur again after proper preparations to escort some Orhmpurians to safety out to Orhmpur and aide them in seeking refuge elsewhere._

  • @81fde2efa2:

the chancellor of norwick arrives in town with a host of armed norwick guard. They make their way to the legion barracks where he asks for an audiance, and is (hopefully) allowed into the hall to speak. The guards wait outside for his return

the chancellor is seen leaving jiyyd a few hours later flanked by his guardsmen, grag and a host of legion officers. The two parties march side by side though town then out the gate in the direction of norwick. No one appears to be harmed, and all seem to be following willingly.

  • Genzir, hearing about these events, stands guard with the other Legionnaires. He summons a large hawk, which carries a note westwards.

I have informed the Keep of the attacks. Apart from defending the Sisterhood home, you might find our services especially helpful in the event that you need to evacuate children in a hurry. Please feel free to call on us. I myself could teleport at least half a dozen children to a safe place if there is a real emergency. The odds of a mishap are extremely low and this could be a lot safer than evacuating them when drow are around.
