Jiyyd Rumors

It seems the gnomes do not only come in packs, as a lone gnome attacked a small group of adventures who were relaxing near the fire. The gnome was dealt with after a long and dangerous fight, none of the adventurers present looked to be in good health afterwards.

Word filters into town that drow aren't the only people sneaking around jiyyd. After a series of traps were found, most of them found the hard way, a few more skilled trappers ventured out to see what they could see. And while the night was full of drow, it seems the day was full of gnomes. It is said that two hins, an elf, and another women all fought bravely against the poisoned gnome blades; not returning to town until all the gnomes were dead.

During the recent drow attacks, a mage known by some as Ezachiel, a former Banite who now openly wears a holy symbol of Azuth on his chest, assisted the town defenders, putting his skill at wielding the weave to good use in defense of Jiyyd. However, once the drow retreated after having lost one of their own, an argument broke out regarding his right to be in Jiyyd, and watchman Dalron told him to leave, which he did.

_Drow…
The word is whispered fearfully all around Jiyyd after the several attacks in recent time. Sensible townsfolk stay indoors after sunset, barring all doors and windows. Only the most foolhardy adventurers venture out on the roads at night, while the towns brave defenders stand vigilant guard against the often unseen menace._

Around town, at a few odd walls, a new festival advertisement is placed there, advertising:

((Again, contact me (IG: Pavel) if there's fees to be paid for the posters.))

Jerr staggers in, looking ragged.
Others came before, some after, all speaking of chasing a drider almost all the way to the bridge before the skald bashed it down with a weapon few have seen him use before.
Curiously, the chase ended by the forest entrance where the skald explained his rule about chasing drow at night into spider laden forests. A priestess had blocked their passage for a time as the floor of the forest burst up with wickedly sharp blades. "Poor choice" she had said. Or so Eluriel told others, Jerr had not heard her.
But he looks . . . old, tired.

_Rumour quickly spreads about the usually distant Dentin, sitting down at the Jiyyd pond one evening to .. fish. Not long after, he begun an epic struggle with what would turn out to be a halfling-sized bass. After properly dried at the campfire, the bass was delivered to the Legion hall, and was apparantly large enough to feed all Legionaires for the night, and more.
On the side, Dentin seems to have traded his already curious foldable fishing pole for an even more impressive one, sold to him by a passing gnome fisherman and inventor.
Would this mean that Dentin has decided to become a fisherman? Is Gond extending his porfolio with fishing? Only time will tell.._

Vicious gnomes!
A party of the faithful of Urdlen crept from Jiyyd's well by night to spill innocent blood for their vile, hungry god. Sneaking through the shadows, they laid snares and traps upon the gate to catch any who might try and escape the slaughter.
Justene, Nathander and Regrin were attacked, as was General Grag who fought bravely. Hearing the cries of alarm, Three of the Sisterhood and a student monk scaled the walls to get inside and give aid along with the legion reinforcements. With surprise lost, victory was more certain for the defenders and only one of the cowardly gnome attackers survived to flee down the well, back to the darkness they love.
// Thanks to DM Sunshine for a beautifully well-planned attack. Also to Grag, Elridith, Jerr, Yuna and Tolin

_A guard on the tower spotted a battle on the road to Jiyyd. It seems lightning was called down on a group of dretches and a drow mage. As the lightning came down, a man, who would be later found out as Aghila, snuck up and stabbed the drow in a sensitive spot. The heavily bleeding drow knocked Aghila down with a spell that looked like a green hand that had punched him. A man covered in bark, pursued the drow as it tried to run away, though the wounds Aghila had inflicted slowed him down and the druid finished the drow off.
The dretches were easily dispatched after the drow was killed. It seems the druid Wolf and Aghila had saved the town from a potential invasion of dretches.
Their teamwork and coordination is what slew the beasts. The two had no time to plan action and did well at this "spur of the moment" attack._
//thanks to Andelas (Fyre) for this little encounter, fantastic fun. Kudos to Aghila as well.

Temperature levels seem to plummet dangerously low during the days in and around Jiyyd, and return to normal at night, the reasons for the cold can be left to speculation

Words spreads of a group of miners attacked by…what was described by one of the miners as "lawn ornaments”. What ever this means is up to interpretation, some think gargoyles or some other fell creature. Though further information was given when he said "an no a farkin fishin rod atween 'em...wee shites"

_In the wee hours of the morning, a cloaked Dwin-sized dwarf marches into town leading a dozen or so dwarves and several Rothe-drawn carts of considerable size and durability.
The dwarves briefly have a conversation outside the Jiyyd Crafting hall, where a few ale bottles are raised and some quick words of encouragement can be overheard. Then they get to work.
As the sun rises, the carts are already heavily loaded with large, heavy items, each draped in oil-cloth. The sounds of heavy work can be heard inside, with an occasional profanity yelled (as is common with Dwarven work sites.)
By mid-day, the carts are loaded high and the Rothe (encouraged by a dwarf walking 5 paces ahead with an open ale bottle) start their slow journey through the west gate and beyond._

The purple hin was seen storming into Jiyyd recently in a very beat up, tired, and ticked off manner. He from the East and spent several hours pacing, yelling, and gritting his teeth all the while mentioning drow, coming close and getting an ear. After talking for a while to the silver elf who apprently new what was going on he then retired to the valley, still looking very angry.

Once again the Rats and Bats is sealed off by Tactical Squad men. A crowd gathers outside and rumours of big spiders having been seen spreads through the crowd. Horbag, Zoma, Elen and Ael are seen rushing through the crowd into the cave.
Time passes and noises can be heard from within. The crowd leans in as far as they can to try and hear or see anything. A bloodcurdling scream is heard from within. One of the guardsmen tell the crowd
"Move along, nothing to see here!"
At that very moment an explosion is heard and a mushroom shaped cloud billows from the cave with a stench of burning corpses and other delights.
The crowd recoils from the stench.
After some time a slimey and (unsually)smelly Horbag comes out.
"Whats yous alls looksis ats? Was just some Huges spiders dat made peoples into dems own spiders eggs. Dat rest-oh-rant closed da rest todays to cleans up bits, but come backsis tomorrows for a new Spider legs spec-i-als, and spread da words, mes looksis someone worksis guards mes place when mes nos eres."

After clubbing the buggery out of a new patch-eyed recruit in the Whore, Mercy, lumpen sloop, age undisclosed, engaged in conversation with a gentleman of orcish stature by the fire. Tempting the greenish interlocutor with the promises of distant employment and wealth, the pair left together, destination unknown. A source close to the priestess, who wished to remain anonymous, related the attendant twinkle in the eye as she left can only lead to trouble.
-
A short elven woman with silver hair can be seen spending much time at the fire. A small baby wrapped in various cloths is carried carefully in her arms. The small pointy eared child peers about with a set of silvery eyes. A smile almost always on the mothers face when she holds him.

Twelve bodies lay outside Vrokas house, covered in tiny bite marks and scratches. Many of the townsfolk are heard talking about the ruckus at the Rat and Bats Restaurant. Rumours include tales of giant rats killing all inside the restaurant, that a brave tatical team went in to try and clear a path but alas to no avail. The Big Red, Horbag to some, owner of said restaurant was then to have charged the place with some other adventuerers. Those that venture into Rats and Bats see a pale and somewhat twitchy Radnack behind the bar. A new set of slogans for Rats and Bats slowly spreads through Jiyyd,
"Rats and Bats Restaurant, come for the food, stay for the fight"
"Rats and Bats Restaurant, bring your own weapons, for the food fights back"
((thanks to DM_Apparition for the most entertaining event, and the OMFG helmet…LOL!))

There are rumors that even more evil gnomes were encountered east of Jiyyd, as a mining party was returning to town.
Two townsfolk and at least 5 gnomes fell in the ensuing battle.
There is also talk of a recent serious attempt to rid the mysterious city of Mintas of the nasty undead that has recently taken it over. A quite large and formidable party of mixed persons, legion, sisters, and crafters of various races and persuasions all pitched in and took on hordes of very dangerous undead.
The group succeeded in destroying a great many undead, the story goes, until they finally faced a truly fearsome undead knight.
Their combined efforts brought the thing down numerous times, with plenty of close calls on the parts of the heroic adventurers, but to no avail, as it seemed to turn to dust and then pop back into existance over and again, wearing down the heroes slowly, until at last they were forced to withdraw.
Vexed but undaunted, the group is heard discussing possible strategies for a future, successful attempt to clear this strange old city of this awful plague that encompasses it.

_There is discussion of a Legion Patrol of the road to Ormpur and the worg caves which ran into two gnomes in purple and white armor. Yelling battle cries of "Bones for Vix'thra," the gnomes were dispatched after a hard battle.
Invaluable aid was provided by Z and the druid known as Wolf._

A large and solid party of adventurers were led out to the caves in search of a missing hin girl by the infamous Black Sail, Devlin. Suspicion and talk upon their beaten and bloody return is that there was no missing girl and he'd found word of some treasures and ruins to desecrate and loot.
There must have been some truth in that, for the happy adventurers were seen distributing finds in the square of Jiyyd. All returned well except for a half-orc who seemed less seasoned than some of the older hands. Of note were Sir Shannon's might in combat against the undead horde and the druid, wolf's, steadfast support of the pack.
// Thanks to DM Sunshine for a frantic and tense series of battles in the darkness.
