Jiyyd Rumors

  • The familiar young elf knows as El can be seen by the campfire and about the small town, she was gone for the better part of a year, but few rumors float around about where or what she was doing…

  • _During this days you can see a pile of hotgoblin skulls over a rock near the entrance of Jiyyd. Gotrek, keeps carring more heads over and over, even impaling some. On occasions you can hear Gotrek claim vengeance:

Ye bastards, gona regret what ye did!! Nae ef ya kill ma friend and lif's ta see a new day!! I nae gona stop, until I kill ye all, or Tha assassin' ef ma fri'nd com's out ta fight!!_

  • Legion

General Grag can be seen smiling at the renovations taking place. Maythor and Grag were soon seen taking a large shipment of Legion ales straight from troff mountain to the laborers*

  • Piles of stone start to appear at varous points along the outside of the Jiyyd walls. Eventually, a dozen or so dwarves are seen with overloaded carts full of masonry stone arriving and increasing the size of these piles. This goes on for a day or so until the piles themselves are higher than the walls in some spots.

The dwarves, having delivered their materials, move through town to the east. On the Dolvak farm they set up a few tents and kegs and take a day of rest–their rock-hauling was a laborious task.

Once they have rested and drank (more of the latter) they split into several different teams, each returning to one of the rock piles. They first start picking at the walls themselves, removing loose stones almost like "a skinny might be prunin' a tree." They spend most of their time removing the top of the wall itself, presumedly so that its height can be increased.

A few dwarves on each team start to make a great mix of sludge in the empty kegs from the previous nights. No one saw exactly what went into this mortar-like mixture, but the smells of swamp mud, clay, limestone, grass, old cheese, dung, and ale are pervasive in the area.

  • A group of four, mostly black clad adventurers entered the swamp, apparently intent on retrieving something. They emerge a good time later, looking a bit confused but generally in a good mood. Those who listen more than necessary hear a tale of someone singing in the swamp. Whatever would make a singer move into such a desolate and hostile environment as the Jiyyd swamp seems beyond comprehension.

  • Two halfings were seen leading a lady with wings around town. They were trying to help her find the leader of the Council but from the look of them they weren't very successful. The lady was of elvish build with feathery wings, like those of a bird. She wanted to speak to the council, but not many other details are known.

  • Orcs, attacking from the south, shell Jiyyd using stone-hurling catapults, causing some damage. After a spirited firefight, notable for the rescue of a wounded man outside the walls by a flying druid, the orcs are repelled with a combination of deadly archery and judicious use of siege engines.

  • _Remains of mechanical beings can be found along the road to Orhmpur and outside the walls of Orhmpur. Apparently a battle against these beings had taken place recently.

Coincidentally, a group of adventurers in injured form returned from that direction speaking something along the lines of 'mechanists' in one of their encounters._

  • _Wild Magic rips through Jiyyd yet again, as the cooking pot in the commons becomes the focus of a storm of colorful effects, explosions, weird noises, glowing pentagrams, and more.

No sooner does it seem to subside than it starts up again, 'answering wishes' of people who speak in warped ways.

Two elves seem to delight in the strangeness, and cast spell after spell to see what will happen, much to the (loud and increasingly threatening) dismay of the others gathered there.

The fun ends when a powerful mummy appears at the gates, apparently summoned or drawn by the magic. It is met by the drawn broadswords of a contigent of three knights from the Watchful Repose, the Helmite Knight on duty, a mage, and a priestess of Sharess. A second undead being appears as if from nowhere. Both are slain.

With the fall of the undead, the wild magic seems to end as quickly as it began._

  • When not getting nearly killed by drow and duergar, or… patrolling... the Sisterhood compound, Aelhaearn is often spending hour after hour shooting his bow at the archery range. The usually dedicated Hawkeye is even more fanatic in his training of late, and his focus is on drow. The most (almost) anybody can get out of him during one of these sessions is a grunt and direction to talk to Lady Shane.

  • _After the incident, Aelthas is seen standing beside Dalron everytime he is on duty, just nodding silently to any thing Dalron says to him.. after his shift, he is seen heading into the Inn with Dalron.. coming out hours later covered in pieces of potatoe skins all over his clothes.. wandering off to the sisterhood, looking tired.

This seems to go on for a week or so, after that time, he is still seen on duty with Dalron, just not heading to the Inn afterwards._

  • _The Watchman Dalron was seen storming up the hill towards the Council hall, clearly furious.

After hearing how the new guard had been assaulted, he tried to impart how to prevent it from happenening in the future. The tip and advice was met with taunts and insults.

Dalron, furious that the new guard's superiors and mother do nothing to keep him in line, has enough and warns him to stop with the insults.

The final barb from the teenage elf was met with a swat of the blade that nearly took his head off.

After being restrained, Dalron stormed off towards the Council building. He could be heard grumbling that the elf was "too angry at the world and everyone to be militia".

And it may be the last time Dalron tries to impart any advice or training with the newly established guard. Looking for Just'ene to make his complaints clear. He will not be spoken to like that again from a teenage recruit on the job for a month or so.

The rumbling and authoritative voice of Dalron can be heard deep into the night._

  • Words moves around that there was a drow fight out by the crossroads. Apparently a hin spotted them, came running into town, and then he ran off west with a large group of talented warriors. The group later returned, but were rather torn up, and by the looks of things…they lost.

Attentive people will also notice that these same people all seem to be missing an ear. With the exception of one man...who is missing both.

  • Legion

MAny Legionarres are seen scurrying out the front gates with envelopes with the legion seal on it.. General Grag and a couple others seem to be wearing extra cloaks and preparing for a long trip something was heard about visiting a old freind up in the mountains…

  • Dentin walked into the gates, warning the Knight on the tower of a mage attack in the fields before the town.. apparantly, said mage simply started casted spells when he passed, yet vanished before Dentin could bring her down.

  • Word spreads that a very large brass dragon appeared at the west gates of Jiyyd recently, much to the worry of several adventurers. Several farmers talk of how Penny Lane waltzed straight up to it with a smile and began speaking to it in Draconic, seemingly trying to make a new friend. It then leapt over the gates and strolled south into the Bat Cave before returning and heading out into the plains where it was last seen. Some say it was looking for a cave to call home.

  • _Gotrek is shouting and moving his axe in circles inside town, like trying to hit something invisible. Guards, alerted by the fact, come quickly to see what's happening.

Gotrek: Ya stupid hin!!.. Tha we'k little bastard tried ta stole my gold!!… Wher's him!?... WHER's HIM!?!?!

Guards were able to calm down Gotrek and warned him about disturbing town peace. They are now also looking for the hin thief._

  • That afternoon, Penny can be seen passing through Jiyyd looking for Dwin, muttering something about a "farkin' gate key".

  • _A mule-drawn wagon makes its way through Jiyyd in the late evening hours. Though cloaked, the 4 escorts are wearing the unmistakable armor and colors of the Norwick Militia.

The wagon passes directly through town to the east, where a passerby says that it went as far as Dwin's farm.

Six hours later, the wagon, now piled high with crates (much to the mule's discomfort) makes its way back through town. Unlike the initial trip, the escorts now have their hands on their hilts and are scanning the area for any signs of danger. They quickly pass through town to the west and are swallowed by the snowy fog.

Several hours later Dwin walks through town with a look of exhaustion and heads straight to the Union hall.

Later that morning, some travellers from the east mention that Dwin's farm looks as if it has been closed up; windows and doors are boarded and the gate has been locked._

  • _A hue and cry is raised in the middle of the night as an adventurer in the swamps returns with a tale of dark dwarves seen moving through the fetid mist.

A band of warriors, clerics, scouts, and a mage is gathered, and head into the mire warily.

For some hours nothing is heard, and then the grim-faced band return, bearing the body of their hin scout with them. Their armor and clothes are blackened and scorched as if by smoke and lightning, and a distinct reek of burned troll still attaches to them.

They proceed to Vroka's and vanish within. Later, the gaunt, fell visage of the knight Kim can be seen speaking to Just'ene. Those close enough to overhear say she spoke of a battle with a dark cleric of the Duergar, and something about 'many trolls'._
