The day was coming for some time. Vic knew it. Sara had become more distant over these recent nights. Then it came…
"Vic, it's time for one of us to leave," she began. Vic looked up from the bowl of stew he had been prodding for the past ten minutes. "I can't keep living like this. You are a shell of yourself. You're drunk every night. I just can't keep living in the shadow of your father, and... you just seem intent on doing so. I love you, but.."
Vic broke in, "I'll go." He stood and walked over to the corner where his hunting supplies lay. He packed up all of it quietly as Sara sat at the table quietly sobbing. "Go back to the city and live with your parents. Without me, they'll take you in and provide for you."
Looking up into Vic's face, his eyes starting to well up themselves, Sara tried to speak but nothing came out. Vic set out into the woods within the hour, starting the journey he knew he must make. Vic had a knack for tracking, but this was different. How do you track down a ghost? Vic didn't know, just that he had to if he ever wanted to be whole for Sara and himself.
After some time travelling, Vic came to the village of Norwick. Weeks, months? Vic wasn't sure. Nestled near the Rawlinswood, Norwick is the village he sought. He remembers his father speaking of it. The Rawlinswood. His father believed there were riches and adventure to be found here. Vic lived for the hope that his father was correct. If right and Vic found what he was looking for here, then he could return to his beloved Sara and be the man she deserved him to be.

Vic's father, Arnes, was a great hero to the people of their village, a small one near to Suzail. Arnes gave his life defending the village from a horde of goblins that beset the village. While Arnes fell, his sacrifice held the goblins at bay until the arrival of a few Purple Dragon Knights of Cormyr. Vic was 8 years old.
26 years later, Vic lives with his wife Sara in the same village. Vic remembers every night as a boy, his father telling him tales of adventure and heroism. Arnes was quite the adventurer before meeting Vic's mother and settling in Cormyr. Vic makes his trade as a scout and guide for hunting parties. The hole in Vic's heart, the connection he had with his lost father, is a burning desire to do more than just live and die here in Cormyr with his loving wife. Although, spending his days with Sara are wonderful, and Vic wishes that it was enough, it just isn't. His unhappiness leads to Sara's and Vic's eventual departure. Sara has journeyed back to Suzail to stay with her parents, nobles who frowned on their daughter's choice in such a "common" man for a husband.
When Vic has found the purpose that he seeks in Narfell, he will do his duty as his father did. Vic hopes this duty will leave him life and time to return to his beloved Sara, but he know that he will not regret the journey even if the gods don't make way for it to happen.
