Ethrun Lasinius

  • The Halfling Defence League

The woman sits on a rocking chair, her face is lined by hundreds of years of wrinkles and she sat there quietly, looking up at the ceiling. A young man comes in through the front door, closed it and stood there at the entrance, seemingly nervous and eyed the woman for a minute. "Ethrun… any letters.." The young man replied apprehensively, "Not many, most are from relatives.." The old elven lady turns her head, as if oblivious to Ethrun's presence and continues to look up at the ceiling, in a melancholy, sorrowful mood.
Ethrun walked into his room. "Corellon, tell me what to do." It has been months since his brother Pyrus left home to adventure the outside world. Pyrus used to write letters home very frequently in the past, every few days the Lasinius family is bound to receive one. But lately, it simply stopped completely...
Ethrun peered out of his room door, his mother is still on the rocking chair, silently asleep, but even in her slumber, she calls out quietly, "Pyrus my son, where are you...come back..." a drop of tear rolled down her cheek. Ethrun gave out a sigh, and sat on his bed. He pondered for a moment, before walking to the table, opening its drawer, taking out a prepared letter within and placed it upon that desk. He opened his closet, and took up a backpack filled with supplies. He walked out and towards the front door, looked back at his mother, and decided to walk towards her silently to give a kiss on her forehead, "goodbye mother, i will find brother..."
A day passed, the young elf travelled far from his home elven village, towards the south and finally reached the gates of a town located in rawlinswood, as he entered through the gates he began to hear the laughters of men and the bustling of a busy little town. He travelled on south and walked about the towns, looking at the seemingly unfamiliar surrounding.
As people went past, he would stop them in their way and began to ask about the town, which he learned later to be Norwick, and he would ask "Have you seen an elven male. about this tall, his name is Pyrus, he looks very much like me..." Unfortunately most disappointed him. Night came and it began to rain, the sounds of thundur heard and lightning flashed. Ethrun laid tired there, but he is not going to give up, he was determined to find his brother.
Then on this fateful night, the man richo, showed up. Ethrun stopped him in his tracks and inquired as usual. This time however the man nodded his head and replied that yes he knew Pyrus... "Where is he then?" Ethrun asked excitedly, "I'm afraid he fell in a battle during one his adventures.." Ethrun's face expression changed, into one very sorrowful, quiet and melancholic. "He was shot through the head by a bolt from an orc sniper, it was a quick death.."
Richo gave his condolences and went off. Ethrun was sad, but a serene feeling came over him, at least he had accomplished what he set out to do, to find out what happened to his brother.
Ethrun sat by the southern camp fires near the gates of norwick, thinking about how he is to break the news to his mother, before he would set out those gates towards his southern elven village home. He thought throughout the rainy night. Dawn rosed. The light of the sky pierced through the clouds to shine on his face, Ethrun looked up, seemingly broken out of his trance, "I...I can't bear to break this to her, first was father, now brother, she is old.. she will not be able to take this blow..." Ethrun cried, he cried hard.
Lacking the courage to return to inform his widowed mother, Ethrun decided he would stay in the outside world instead, and put the skills he learned to good use. Back at the elven village, he often stuck around the elven ranger guards and learned much from them. Then till now, he would often wander the woods, as it always gave him a peaceful feeling within, and the sight of the woodland critters often place a smile on his lips. More importantly, he is going to guide the lost and protect those who travel the wilderness. "The forests will be my home and duty, I will protect both it and the innocents who travel pass, I will protect because I don't want anymore people to share the fate of my brother and myself."
Ethrun sought to protect to prevent similiar tragedies from happening, he would do this for now, and perhaps never returning to his home, until his ready, when that time will be, no one knows, it may never come.
