Xanatos Gambit NPCs (Deceased, Exiled, or Departed)

  • Godfrey and Godfreya Gostrun

Current Status: ???? - Vanished in plot finale: "A Melody Mechanical."

Physical Description: Those who claim to have seen one of the two in one way or another describe them so - although accounts vary. Godfrey Gostrun is a man with a finely groomed mustache, focused and calculating eyes. His clothing is well prepared and presented, he carries an even number of scrolls and wands. His robes are proportionate and his hair well groomed, and he seems proud of it. Godfreya Gostrun is a woman with a wild smile and darting, amused eyes. Her hair is disheveled, her clothing is haphazard, and she carries an odd number of wands and scrolls. Her robes are entirely crooked and messy, and it doesn't seem to bother her.

Public Knowledge: Little is known about Godfrey and Godfreya Gostrun, save for that they were both mages who lived an undetermined time ago, and that they only ever seen apart and never together. Some have said that they are one and the same, and others that they are twins. Others insist they are something stranger. Loremongers will find in old texts and books describing the work of past arcanists that provide such accounts. Godfrey Gostrun was known to be a planar arcanist whose work centered around the plane of Mechanus, its constructs, and its mechanical architecture. He was known to be obsessed with logic, shapes, geometry, symmetry, proportionality, and achieving perfection in form and structure. He was known to suddenly stop whatever he was doing, take out a hand-held mirror, and gaze into it often to groom his mustache and hair. Those who claimed to have known him said he was working on a grand, secret project before he vanished. Godfreya Gostrun was known to be a planar arcanist whose work centered around the planes of Limbo, their inherently unknowable nature, their ever-changing realities. She was obsessed with the fickle nature of perception, individual will, individual identity, and the unpredictable effects of chance. She was known to suddenly stop whatever she was doing, take out a hand-held mirror, and gaze into it to smile widely at her dynamic appearance, hair, and eyes. Those who claimed to have known her said she was working on a grand, secret project before she vanished.

    Thematic Music:

    A melody mechanical.

  • Vanno Hemway

Current Status: Departed after plot finale: "The Sense of Self."

    Portrait:

Physical Description: Handsome, smiling, and with a welcoming demeanor, Vanno Hemway's appearance and confidence are things to be vied and desired. He wears elegantly cut tunics, simple yet pleasing rings, and otherwise sports a groomed aesthetic. His brown hair is smooth, clean, and typically tied in a ponytail. His eyes are a dark brown, and alternate between easy amicability and sharp focus. Not muscular, but toned, and seemingly dexterous. He bears only a little resemblance to the Peltarchian Hemway house's more immediate family, leading one to surmise that he is perhaps a more distant relative.

Public Knowledge: Vanno Hemway recently arrived in Peltarch alongside his servant, Geoff. Rumors have it that Garric and Vanessa - the patriarch and matriarchs of the Hemway family - did not expect his visit, and were caught off-guard (see "The Hemway Nobility" above). Those in the know have heard that house Hemway has a variety of relatives living abroad in major cities, and that Vanno Hemway hails from one of them. Where House Hemway has maintained its wealth in Peltarch, it nevertheless failed to flourish politically, remaining on the outskirts of influence and power. However, the House has had more success abroad in the major port cities, leading one to wonder why it is Vanno visits his family in Peltarch here and now. When asked how long he is staying, Vanno has given a few vague replies: laughing and noting a time-frame of six months on some occasions, and on others replying that the visit may last longer still. There is also more recent talk about an altercation between Vanno Hemway and the Bardic College (or was it the Bardic College's former guard?) in the commons.

    Thematic Music:

    Facsimile of nobility.

  • Sarah Snow

Current Status: Departed in plot finale: "The Sense of Self."

Physical Description: Sarah Snow is a halfling woman that has pleasing features, namely her rapacious demeanor and cheerful voice. While her face is slightly uneven, her nose is a little crooked, though recently her hair is actually glittered up and her eyes are a wild brown. She often fiddles and fidgets with a jar of glitter she carries around. She often darts about, accidentally bumping into people. She wore brown, common clothes until Roslyn crafted her a flashy purple shirt, which she tries to wear but often forgets to tuck it in properly. Isolde gave her some purple lip balm, but she smears it by accident. She has recently been seen wearing a pink and green skirt.

Public Knowledge: Sarah Snow arrived in Peltarch some time ago, accompanying Roslyn, Isolde, and Ginger. Nobody knows where she came from or why she accompanied the trio into town. She stays at the bardic college but isn't exceptionally talented. Rumor has it she makes puppets and tries to put on puppet shows. The bards at the college rarely if ever speak with her, and she mostly shuffles around and keeps to herself. Sometimes she does drop it, though, but thankfully, the bottle doesn't break. Roslyn Underhill is seen frequenting Sarah Snow's room in the college, A5, and apparently the two are working on puppeteering. A trio of bards named Vanoogle, Sprocket, and Olil are also seen in Sarah's room fairly often, along with Isolde Garibaldi who tends to wheel in a cart filled with desserts. Roslyn Underhill's visits have risen in frequency in recent times, especially after Sarah Snow returned from a trip to the druid grove. Sarah Snow has been becoming more brazen and cheerful in general recently as well.

Sarah Snow has recently vanished, apparently having run away from the Bardic College the same night that Isolde Garibaldi, Roslyn Underhill, Leena Lynn Rayfe, Aoth Sepret, Rasuil Delagim, Reyhenna Jorino, and Artemis ventured to the Deepwood forest near the Moonsea. Roslyn Underhill has been seen poking around the Bardic College looking for her.

    Thematic Music:

    Light your heart up.

  • Queen Dafna

Current status: Deceased. Killed during the carnage of a wild hunt.

Physical Description: Dafna is a more bluish and grayish color, with fiery eyes and runes carved into her arms. The runic markings glow a dim colour, but they are rarely seen, because she is known to dye her skin next to the runic markings, and hides them. She moves with an impeccable, spry agility. She has recently began to use lipstick, stolen from trade caravans and given to her by some adventurers, such as Isolde Garibaldi. She smears it on formally without much care. She also has a nasty scar that is the result of Rasuil Delagim firing a brutal arrow at her during one of their interactions. She often steals perfumes and soaps from travelers rather than their weaponry and tries to make herself look more presentable. She is, however, rather hideously ugly.

Public Knowledge: Dafna calls herself the "Queen of the Rawlinswood" ever since she enlisted the aid of Rasuil, Isolde, Rhona, Abigail, Artemis, Leena, Whisper, and others in a mission to kill Gorbok and Pliko, her former allies. She is known to name her servants all manner of strange names, such as Creampuff, Cutekitten, and Blossom. She is also known to be more ruthless, petty, and spiteful than her former goblin compatriots. She has thrown fits over the smallest, most meaningless things, and is known to fly into a rage just as easily. Despite this, Dafna is known to try and clean herself a bit more than the run-of-the-mill goblin. None of Dafna's servants ever dare to comment on her appearance. Gorbok and Pliko were rumored to have called her ugly and "hide main tenants" on several occasions before their deaths. Before she enlisted the aid of adventurers to kill Gorbok and Pliko, she was Gorbok's "loot tenant."

    Thematic Music:

    Hide main tenants.

    Gorbok and Pliko

Current Status: Deceased. Killed in events described above.

Physical Description: These goblins are small, waist-height, and each with the typical ugliness and discolorations that are found amongst goblins. Gorbok is a green color, he wears a king's cape and a make-shift crown, and carries a large blunt scepter. He often lifts his chin and puffs out his chest. He is more gaunt than his companions. Pliko is the largest one of the trio, and he typically wears armor and a helmet, and carries the latest largest weapon he's found. Each of the trio of goblins speaks common in broken but intelligible tones.

Public Knowledge: Gorbok was a goblin that resided in the Lost City. For some reason, he was untouched by any of the corruption that spread amongst his kin there. Some say that he did not live their long, and was but a traveler who made up temporary residence with his goblin kin and just thought his neighbors were strange. However, a goblin civil war erupted, and the chieftain of the goblins in the lost city wanted his head. Some say that the cause of the civil war was Gorbok's annoyance that everyone teased him about the paintings of goblin women he had hung up on the walls in his room. Rumors say that a mage named "elf da real," a woman from the desert, a woman in white robes and several others ventured into the Lost City and disrupted the local goblin politics there. The outcome was the chieftain chasing the adventurers away, with Gorbok behind them.

Gorbok used to reside in the Rawlinswood south of Norwick. Pliko, on the other hand, come from the Rawlinswood, and flocked to Gorbok's side. Gorbok was building a base of operations and is per his loyal ally Pliko is currently involved in "gee, oh polished ticks." Gorbok called himself king and is known to want a queen. Pliko has commented that Dafna's habits are "hide main trance." He has also commented that many of Gorbok's big words make his head hurt. Apparently, Pliko had agreed in the past to a sort of armistice so that his "troopas" won't attack a certain tree-house, its owner, or its guests.

Pliko was apparently beaten in single combat after Gorbok's army ambushed a group of adventurers in the Rawlinswood coal lines with a tin golem. He was in the "inn fur marry" under Gorbok's care, and was later seen turned into a hulking zombie by "Dokta Rubaduk." After that happened, Gorbok promoted Dafna to "loot tenants," instead of high main tenants. Ever since she gave Gorbok a "new pain thing," painted by the official "pain turd" called Hunny, she had risen to be the new second in command.

    Thematic Music:

    Goblin gang.

  • Louis Auldreyyus

Current Status: Departed. Louis has left Narfell. Rumor has it that he departed with Talbot Anderson, when the latter was exiled.

Physical Description: Louis Auldreyyus is a lanky, tall, well-dressed man who tends to wear the latest in fashion and style. This includes all manner of rings, jewelry, top-hats, and such. His eyes are differently coloured - one of them is pitch black, and the other is bright orange. His hair is a bright pink and sports a variety of shades. He walks as if every step should bedazzle and impress, and carries himself with an almost aristocratic air. He also speaks in a strange, unique dialect, often twisting and stretching his syllables. He presents himself with a cheerful, amicable demeanor.

Public Knowledge: Louis Auldreyyus is a jack of all trades who frequents the docks of Peltarch. He frequents many brothels, taverns, and warehouses, but tends to avoid the Seafarer's establishments. He was a repeat customer of the Lucky Ferret until very recently. Some have mentioned that he may have ties to certain city officials, although the truth of these rumors remains uncertain. He is known to trade in information and other forms of favours. During Talbot's treason (see above), Auldreyyus went missing for a long time. He has recently returned to the docks district in Peltarch though.

    Thematic Music:

    When you're (a) stranger.

  • Renegade General Talbot Anderson

Current Status: Exiled. Killed in plot finale: "A Despot's Design," resurrected in plotline: "Justice's Labyrinth." Exiled following the death of Norwick Chancellor Hannibal.

Physical Description: Talbot's most distinguishing features are his harsh, cruel eyes and his cold smile. He is extremely charismatic and handsome, and is known to be an excellent speaker and bargainer. When dealing with military or security matters, his expression is stern and all business. He is muscular, his armor is well kept, and he almost always wears his Peltarch Defender Captain uniform. Recently, though, his armor has become darker, his cloak more tattered with the wear and tear of the march into the giantspire mountains (see the link below for more information). He has short, well kept black hair, and is cleanly shaven.

Public Knowledge: Latest public knowledge including information on Talbot's treason is available in the following Peltarch forum thread by clicking here.

Before his treason, Talbot's reputation was that of an efficient, if brutal and fearsome Defender Captain. The prisoners under his care have, for the most part, been treated with utmost security… and most end up talking when interrogated. He was widely respected among the lower ranks of the Peltarch Defenders, many of whom sought to work for him. Some observers noticed that his regiment is filled with significantly more troops and soldiers than other Captain's regiments; some military professionals called it "bloated" and demanding that Talbot or General Del'rosa see it reduced for the greater efficiency of Peltarch's military. Critics were often questioning the etiquette of some of Talbot's troops, claiming that they act more like gang-members rather than trained soldiers. Despite his reputation for efficiency, Talbot was rumored to be adamantly refusing calls to downsize his regiment.

Since the recent demonic siege left many dead in the local guard, his Defender regiment had assisted the local guards in domestic policing; however, given that his regiment had military rather than police training, they are known to be rather unforgiving of criminals and petty law-breakers. He used to work with the Inquisitor, Nuwairah Zarah'kifa, in previous matters, and is also the Defender that has taken the most involvement in the Chirade investigation. His regiment also recently handily dealt with an orcish war-machine that was pillaging and burning the nearby forests, along with several other successes. Recently, he apparently assisted Isolde Garibaldi and Roslyn Underhill in capturing and extracting critical information from a nightmare-cult leader who had infiltrated City Hall with nefarious plans. He has, apparently, hired new Defender privates: Mint Ju'lep and Reyhenna Jorino are two high profile and controversial additions, along with a few others.

Given this list of achievements, it was rumored that the defender Captain was going to put in a bid for promotion to General, much to the ire of Peltarch's current general, Del'rosa. There was no official announcement of this bid or any official discussions, but the rumor mill spun nevertheless. Since the treason, this talk has stopped.

    Thematic Music:

    A despot's design (pre-treason)

    Diabolus ex machina (post-treason)

    The knell inevitable (defeat)

  • Chirade

Current status: Deceased. Killed in plot finale: "A Game with Chirade."

Physical Description: Chirade is a sun elf with chestnut hair and a tanned complexion. He almost always has a wide smile, with large, focused, cold eyes locked onto whoever or whatever has his attention. Perceptive watchers will notice that his smile is often insincere, mocking, or sarcastic. He usually dresses in bright purple and gold, although his clothing has grown darker and darker with every encounter with Peltarch's denizens and heroes. He has taken to wearing black robes, a hood, and a purple and black mask.

Public Knowledge: A powerful elven bard/sorcerer named Chirade wants to see the nars burn and its denizens suffer. He has made use of abandoned ruins in the far regions of the nars to create rooms filled with awful devices and death-traps. He is known to have trapped people in the shadow plane, attempted to turn friends against one another, and tormented a variety of Narfell's heroes - especially those that used to live in Jiyyd, and those that currently reside in Peltarch. He was recently slain by Peltarch's investigation team. One wonders if this is the whole story…

    Thematic Music:

    Playing the villain.
