What My Mother Said
-
Shesarai and Romulus' mother just celebrated her 86th birthday. Shessa asked her brother the bard to compose a song in her honor, and gave him a list of their mother's favorite sayings. Romulus thought the list was better than any song he could write, so he just published it:
Elsa Grey is wise woman. She's been a singer, dancer, actress, and entertainer for half a century or more. She's now retired from her job as business manager and chief entertainer for a small tavern on the road between Neverwinter and Luskin. Here are some of her favorite words of wisdom:
"If you're sitting under a palm tree and hear the coconuts starting to fall, don't look up!"
"My favorite dwarven cookbook is: 'Cooking for One While Drunk!"
"It's not true that all dwarves do is sit around drinking ale. Sometimes, they throw up."
"It's not the little things that get you, it's all the things."
"A good friend is someone that visits you in jail. A great friend is someone that wakes up next to you in jail and says: 'Damn, that was fun!"
"Around here, anything you do can get you killed, including doing nothing!"
"If you think you've got it all figured out, think again!"
"Don't hate yourself in the morning. Sleep past noon every day."
"War and violence never decide who's right. They only decide who's left."
