Anheim (Black Cloak).

    • Anheim during Lucid Dream meditation -

    Name: Anheim.
    Gender: Male.
    Alignment: Lawful Neutral.
    Race: Human.
Classes: Fighter (1) / Sorcerer (1) - he used to be stronger.

Deity: follows God of War and Fighters (Tempus) for this moment, sympathizes with Godess of Arcane Power (Mystra), Godess of Tactics and Strategy (Red Knight), and crying god (Ilmater), Elven deity of Protection and War (he knows only these aspects of Corellon Larethian), He started following Eldath (godess of Peace) recently, so his war is to stop wars and Tyrants who would wage such on larger scale (mostly followers of Bane and Garagos).

Home Town: Peltarch (sympathizes with Norwick and Oscura).

Description: Quiet and aware person, his mannerism shows fair amount of discipline and focus. Not unattractive, confident.

    Initial Concept:

    • protector,
    • dextrous katana sword fighter,
    • a sentry: lookout / light escort, for scouts for example (high spot, light armour, invis scrolls or potions, perhaps even low MS, etc…),
    • martial artist,
    • sorcerer arcanist (with scrolls),
    • a strategist,
    • lucid dreamer & astral fighter if possible.
    • yogin without vows prohibiting love & sex.

classes: fighter / sorcerer / monk.

    Build:

    up to level 6:

    • Fighter (1) // only basics of Martial Training with weapons & armor, for now at least,
    • Sorcerer (2) // arcane talent, develops with time & experience,
    • Monk (3) // he's meditative & reflective person, interrested in Martial Arts.

    main benefits:

    • Fighter (1): in character choice, few more HP & AB, later weapon specialization in katana sword perhaps,
    • Sorcerer (2): mage armour spell, lasts twice as long; also can use arcane magic scrolls of various types - both cheap or powerful.
    • Monk (3): running speed +10%, 'Still Mind' too; also skills: concentration, tumble, discipline, perhaps Move Silently.

later perhaps more, suggesting reaching a fighter (4) for katana sword weapon specialization, melee & unarmed fighting.

  • Finally i did fulfill my promise to Tempus, to kill gnolls.

i killed three of gnoll wariors by myself, using only potions & martial arts.

They were alone or in a small group.

They have deadly knockdown training, but i did succeed to stun warriors twice with my fist.

i had to flee, heal & return to kill them.

i killed at least two of their younglings as well, and wounded one more.

… it was potions-expensive & dangerous holy trip.

i did offer part of my spoils - two of Endurance Potions - to Tempus at his Shrine, after combat.

Then, i stayed there to meditate.

    -- Anheim, a Warrior & Martial Artist.

  • Goblin Activities in Rawlinswood.

    • Goblin Corpse, un-animated by Anheim's 'Ray of Frost' spell. -

During free, after work on Leviathon (Cray's Ship), i've been going to Rawlinswoods to practice combat methods, including attempts at 'defensive expertise', but also other armed & unarmed tricks.

Noticed increased activities in and near Howling Woods.

Goblin corpse, animated by necromantic spell probably.

Two unusual goblin warriors… one armed with fists & stink bomb, other with a bow.

Dispatched them, then soon after left to Oscura to focus on my work for cpt. Cray Vincint.

After many failures, did some progress in Fighting Ways... We'll see how they are or aren't useful in a team later.

    -- Anheim.

    • 'Fat Fists'. -

    • 'Hulo The Hunter'. -

  • Goblin named Grobble.

    • Anheim in a team with goblin named Grobble. -

i've heard occasionally about goblin serving Tempus at the Tempus Shrine in Nars Pass.

    i've heard he's called 'Grobble'.

Today i've met this goblin, he and i fought Kuo-Toa.

He kept challenging me, so i did fight Kuo-Toa Mages with Unarmed Style.

Otherwise he was better with weapons than i, at this moment.

    – Anheim, a Fighter with Unique Style.

    • Anheim using 'Noir Desir' armour, 'Raven Soul' helmet & Katana sword. -

    Noir Desir.

    in Oscura.

i've bought Noir Desir, a light leather armour for a Ceremony.

it's not very useful in combat, for i am trained to fight without any armour only in Ceremonial or plain robes.

    – Anheim.

P.S. i can also handle heavier armours skillfully & well, but then i can carry less of supporting equipment.

P.S.S. Noir Desir armour has probably worst weight as far as my training is considered.

    • Noir Desir, a summary. -

    • Meeting with Silvanius Chalice, Paladin of Torm. -

    Deal with Paladin.

i talked with Paladin after a fight with goblins & wolves.

he wanted to help, i let him and paid a little.

he sold me 'Knock' scroll and more.

    – Anheim.

    • a Terrain Obstacle in Howling Woods. -

    Terrain Obstacle.

there's a spot in Howling Woods where goblins have troubles getting past a Terrain Obstacle & nearby bushes.

it's a place where their ranged attackers - spellyappers - have to be removed first, then rest is trivial to kill.

i think however, that someday they will burn this place or destroy somehow.

or develop other attack route, if they ever get smart enough.

what stops them most probably is presence of their tent camp.

or they'll train or hire more ranged attackers.

    – Anheim, a Warrior, a Tactician, a Strategist.

  • X-Bow & Recovery.

    • Recovering from wounds, checking X-Bow from Oscura. -

i've decided i won't stay in Oscura uninvited for long, just yet.

went to Norwick to test crossbow (also called 'x-bow'), against weaker targets than Kuo-Toa Crackshots, as a training and local protection effort & source of 'income'.

x-bow works fine, but fires slowly.

got wounded, recovering & preparing against goblins.

    – Anheim.

  • Too Strong Opposition.

    • Too Strong Opposition, Kuo-Toa Crackshots. -

went to Kuo Toa Cavern, had to retreat very early.

Kuo Toa Crackshots is too much for me at this moment, even worse that one was barely visible.

earlier killed few of Kuo-Toa Workers & Soldiers, i am not sure how many of which type.

    – Anheim, in Training.

  • Equipment.

    in Oscura.

    i've looked at my equipment.

replaced shortbow & arrows with Oscuran light crossbow & bolts.

    bought shuriken.

bought skull helmet & crow's beak helmet.

both might be useful at Oscuran masked parties & ceremonies, not only in a fight.

    – Anheim.

  • Fights.

i went to Howling Woods, used varied arms - including Combat Knife this time… it's lighter than Katana Sword, so easier to use for an unexperienced warrior.

i returned wounded from casters & other.

i decided to send a wish in my thoughts - to get Mantra for Fight, with weapons and not.

things started to stir in my head, walked around inn room practicing combat moves.

it will take some time but i'll have new Fight Mantra, that will include Training Mantra again, as well.

-- Anheim, a Warrior, not so weaponless.

    • Anheim, Recovering at Norwick's Grapevine Inn. -

i went to Old Norwick Ruins next to Norwick Graveyard area, to east or west, always forgettig which side - but i know the path, south then left.

Fought possessed swines, shadows & zombies. Killed many.

i am wounded, had to stop and recover at Norwick's Grapevine. This will take few days at minimum, for i do not trust healing prayers or songs.

It seems that Old Norwick Curse still remains, with so many undead rattling bones, walking, to slay the living - i know this from Chea who is spending considerable amount of time in Libraries.

    – Anheim, wounded a light warrior ...

    • A chat with Cray, after fight. -

i met Man from Oscura, offered service.

got invited on his ship to talk details.

risked life for the Cause, Chea Allin.

tried to change him, with a partial success.

    – Anheim, Anti-Terrorist.

P.S. i mentioned i could go great lengths to prevent him from Terror in all forms. he started to Yield, i am savvy with that.

    • 'Savving', they have. -

    • A fight on the way to Hobgoblin Woods, after a fight with Kuo-Toa. -

  • Distraction Tactic.

usually the problem with Spellyappers is that they cast spells while protected by a Shinbiter escorts.

this time it wasn't any different.

i've evoked to summon the Shelgarn's Persistent Blade to distract the escort while i fought the Spellyapper.

Spellyapper focused on flying Dagger to free the escorts and i've killed him about the same moment as Shelgarn's Dagger went down.

without the Spellyapper's casting getting rid of the rest was easy enough.

rest of the fight was short, i've killed few more goblins and had to retreat due to lack of spells.

this time returned to town unwounded.

    – Anheim, Re-Training.

  • They attack from Blind Sides.

    i've ventured again into Rawlinswoods.

few goblins slain, including a Spellyapper, fight was short.

rest of them swarmed upon me, attacking from blind sides, i could not defend effectively as they flanked.

as i started to run, i felt quite a strong blow to my ankle area upper parts, but kept on my legs and managed to reach safety of the Grapevine Inn in Norwick.

    – Anheim, Re-Training & recovering from goblin wounds.

    • Goblins have hard time hitting well armoured adventurers, but flanking ability they possess due to numbers gives them +2 to Attack Bonus (AB).
** Running from enemies (or near them) often triggers Attacks of Opportunity (AoO).

  • Night Hunt.

this night i hunted in Rawlins.

few of Shinbiter Goblins, a Wolf, and a goblin caster - Spellyapper.

next day i've ventured to woods again, defeated many this time, with use of spells.

then i've retreated to a Grapevine Inn of Norwick.

two castings of 'Mage Armour' spell barely lasted this trip.

    • Fight in Rawlinswoods. -

    • Fight vs Spellyapper. -

    • Rest at Grapevine Inn. -

    – Anheim, Re-Training.

  • Represent.

    • Anheim in Black Light Leather, with Katana. -

i've prepared black outfit - with silver & brown accents - that can actually look.

will have to get another one, black and blue, for the Royal Troff Legion.

    – Anheim, Black Cloak.

  • A Prison.

This place feels like a Prison for a Warrior-Mage.

Prison of Delusions and Illusory Peace, but not only.

Proper tools are expensive, rare & inefficient as a way and means to reach Liberation and Enlightenment.

Perhaps if an Asteroid of Metal & Stone fell and caused catastrophe, people would interpret it as a sign from Gods and made weapons from such to fight for Freedoms of their choice.

Would this help them escape this a Prison?

    – Anheim, also known as Black Cloak, a warrior-mage without means.

P.S. Writing this from a larger perspective than recent conflict escalation with Gnolls, this won't change after a Peace is enforced.
