Persistent Storage

  • Persistent Storage

Players may purchase or rent a persistent storage chest. The costs vary, but are usually quite high. Persistent storage chests record items placed in them to a database, allowing players to store items persistently without having to carry them around.

    General Info

    • Persistent storage saves your character when you remove or add an item. This prevents loss and duplication.
    • Only guilds/orgs and personal houses may gain persistent storage.
    • To have personal PS added in a guild/org area or to learn the conditions of use for the communal storage please read your forum or speak to your group leader for details. All PS additions are organised by the group leader.
    • When creating houses, ask a DM for a persistent storage tag. Every chest with persistent storage needs a -unique- tag. DMs and Developers can tell you what is available.
    • Multiple persistent storage chests don’t have an adverse affect on server load. Having more than more than one could actually help server load. This is because it doesn’t have to load as many items at the same time.
    • If you wish to share a personal chest with someone else any DM can make a copy of the key for you to give to them.

    Guidelines on Use

    • Heavily loaded PS chests cause server lag. The load of the chest is based on the number of items the server has to load when you open it.
    • If you are working in your PS and find there is a delay when you are adding/moving items, everyone on the server will be feeling the same lag.
    • Boxes are supported and RECOMMENDED. Keep all small items in boxes. Loading and storing one box is much easier on the system than 35 different items.
    • Stacked items should ONLY be stored in boxes. You won’t be compensated for any items lost because you kept them loose.
    • To know what is in each box you can label them using the Cipher Wheel in the Peltarch Trade Hall.
    • Gold can be kept in PS chests.
    • Trashcans are there for a reason. Get rid of your junk. Although you are able to store items that doesn’t mean you should keep everything you have ever found in Narf.

    Droibo’s Rental Storage

A limited number of PS chests are available in Peltarch. These may be rented subject certain to stringent conditions since there are only so many chests and we can’t have them tied up by people who aren’t playing when there are active players who require them.

    • No more then one chest per PLAYER. Including alts. Need to share with others.
    • Rent is 1000 first time payment. 250 per RL month after. Gold to be deposited in chest by 1st of each month. No more then 250 gold allowed to be in chest. You cannot prepay. If you have more then the 250 payment in chest at 1st of month, it will be considered as you trying to pay in advance for other months and the chest will be locked and auctioned off. Prepayment is not allowed as that defeats the purpose of taking monthly payments to ensure that renters are active in game.
    • If you miss your payment the lock will be changed and the chest and its belongings auctioned off.
    • If the Droibo’s DM feels that you are inactive as a player or that PC despite paying your gold, they will contact you to say so. You will have a chance to prove that you are active on the PC who’s renting the chest. If the DDM sees insufficient evidence of activity they will tell you this and give you time to clear out your chest before changing the lock.
    • It is recommended that if taking a break from Narfell that you empty out your chest into your PC's inventory.

    Current DDM is DrDreadlock.
