Warning: Rabid Gnolls

  • Captain Romulus Grey of the Troff Legion has sent warning messages to officials in Peltarch and Norwick.

"Rabid gnoll younglings have been seen for the past several days outside of their woods congregating near the road between the Nars Bridge and the Kuo Tao Cavern. Six at a time have been spotted. They are extremely dangerous, carry disease, and may attack travelers without warning. Most cannot be seen from the road. All travelers are urged to use the wooded path near the Legion Tower unless they are well armed and guarded with magical wards."

Captain Romulus suggests that warning signs be posted at the curve of the road north of the Nars Bridge and just south of the Kuo Toa Cavern.

  • For several tendays now, the young Markus has been seen obliterating gnolls throughout the pass. Alongside him, a helmed oriental warrior and a hooded figure can be seen at times, though the identity of these people is hard to ascertain due to the face covering apparel they carry at all times.

  • _A rolling storm appears out of nowhere to obscure the portion of the pass where the diseased gnolls gather. Lightning and tempest erupt furiously sweeping across the surface, earth and sky touching each other in a fascinating, yet deadly conflict.

After a few minutes the area clears up to reveal over a dozen gnoll bodies still charged with static and mostly charred laying lifeless across the area, now liberated of the disease that afflicts them. Some rumours may say that two "Thunder Witches", one who brings the Storm and another who wields the Lightning, were seen walking away from the scene in high spirits, surely being the culprits behind these happenings._

  • Troff Legion riders were again dispatched to Peltarch and Norwick carrying messages from Legion Scout Romulus Grey.

The Gnolls are back, and stronger than ever!!! On my most recent patrol at dusk today, I found gnoll younglings in the Nars Pass leading to the Gypsy Camp (though none on the Nars Bridge). Farther north, many gnolls were seen patrolling the road near the Gnoll Woods. At least half a dozen, including axe-wielding warriors and two Red Slaads were on the curve of the road by the Kuo Toa Cavern entrance. Travelers are advised not to use the road.

  • Troff Legion riders gallop once again to Norwick and Peltarch carrying messages from Legion Captain Romulus Grey.

Legion patrols of the Nars Pass and bridge during the last few days have found no signs of gnolls on the road or bridge, nor indeed anywhere outside their previous habitat. A sign was found posted at the entrance to the Gnoll Woods, written in Gnollish (or something like that). Captain Romulus was unable to decipher the words and asks for the assistance of anyone who can understand Gnollish to see what it says.

Despite the disappearance of the gnolls, travelers are warned to use extreme caution in the Nars Pass. Use of the wooded path near the Legion Tower is strongly advised until we are certain that the gnoll threat has receeded permanently. Any sighting of gnolls outside their woods should be reported to the Troff Legion immediately.

  • _A tale is heard and told about a duo meeting in the Peltarch commons. One was an extroverted, beautiful redhead that persuasively questioned the other, a Lathanderite warrior in white armour, about the whereabouts of certain penguin creatures he claimed to have spotted.

Unable to dissuade her inquisitive insistence, he led her to the spot where the penguins had been sighted, where they found that the peculiar birds were nowhere to be seen any more. The young redhead however refused to accept that, and attempted to bait the penguins out using roasted boar, only to be told that penguins eat fish. Disappointment hit the girl as Andrew mentioned that he wished to patrol the pass, so the strange duo continued travelling southwards.

But what he called a "regular patrol" was not regular at all! Large numbers of gnolls began to appear from all sides, ambushing from the forest. Some of them different than those usually spotted, including archers, and flail-wielding gnolls followed by what seemed to be their boss, a giant gnoll wielding a special multi-headed flail enchanted with fire that burned brightly as it was swung around. It appears that even with the enhancing magics from the young wild sorceress Andrew was nearly killed, but in the end they both made it back to the city safe and sound, with a few potions as reward for their boldness.

As they hit the commons are where they had first met that day, the white swordman seemed worried about the increased numbers and types of strong gnoll warriors. The young redhead seemed worried that she still did not know how does penguin taste…_

  • Andrew Brightdawn can easily be spotted everyday, both alone and in company, patrolling the Nars pass, and eliminating any gnoll that might endanger travellers.Despite his efforts, gnolls just seem to keep coming back, with increasing strenght and power as well…

  • Legion

alisa, rin, andrew, victoria, and others have all been slaying gnolls for the few past tendays regularly. there doesn't seem to be an end to their numbers, but this won't stop the warriors from continuing to keep the nars safe for those unaware.

  • Once again, Troff Legion messengers have been heard carrying new warnings to Peltarch and Norwick. Gnoll warriors recently have been spotted patrolling the road south of Nars Bridge (though still well north of the Crossroads). In addition, a traveler walking along the wooded path south of the Legion Tower reported triggering a sonic trap laid on the east side of the stream about even with the Oath of the East Hoar Memorial. All except extremely well armed parties are urged to take the boat between Norwick and Peltarch.

  • Troff Legion messengers are seen galloping to Norwick, Peltarch, and Silver Valley, carrying warnings that gnoll warriors, witch doctors, and even a shaman have been encountered on the road in the northern part of the Nars Pass. Gnolls also were found as far south as the Nars Bridge. The Legion is stepping up patrols and will attempt to keep at least the wooded path near the Legion Tower cleared. Travelers are urged to use the boat, and travel north of the Crossroads by land should be undertaken only in the company of a strongly armed and armored party.

  • Early one morning a wagon is seen slowly moving down the road from Peltarch and along the gnoll infested road. Sitting atop it is a young blonde haired man in silver and blue plate. He stops by the side of the treeline close to the gnoll forest entrance and offloads two large crates of something, shoving the crates into the treeline and getting back on his wagon and heading back north to the city.

  • After a vicious several days, the gnolls seem to calm down some, with less travellers being attacked. Those who go through the pass would swear at times that they've spotted an oversized gnoll amongst the trees, simply watching them pass.

  • _Word goes north and south of travellers being attacked by rabid gnolls, carrying some kind of sickening disease. Reports have them coming as far north as the Shrine of Tempus, and even hanging around near the Legion tower.

What is happening in the pass?_

  • @79f38470a0=Zangeen:

Plumes of smoke can be seen rising above the trees near the entry path to the woods. Any who investigate would smell the distinct essence of singeing fur as they drew nearer.

_As Brumir Silverhammer walks from Peltarch down south, he notices the smoke and smell of burnt fur and grunts

"'bout farkin' time sum un did it!"_

  • Two Legion privates can be seen placing signs in the Nars echoing Captain Romulus's message. One sign is placed north of the Legion Tower near the Tempus Shrine, the other is placed just south of the bridge.
