Rising waters...

  • _During this time of need, one might ask, where are the Senatorial Candidates and the Senators, the few that remain?

    • Chadwick Whyte is working with his guild, the Seafarers, to secure their ships during the flooding, as well as trying to protect their warehouses from the worst of the water.

    • Jahn Reshor is working with the Defenders, Guards, and volunteers to sandbag the docks, going without rest as much as is possible.

    • Miranda Greywing, with her small stature and lack of magics to call upon, instead of aiding with the sandbagging is helping with the people who have evacuated the docks, ensuring that the City has organised all they can to keep them safe, warm, and fed.

    • The Rat-Master General is working overtime, killing rats en masse with her troops, the terriers running about this way and that, paddling through floodwater where necessary to kill the vermin. Seems she's working towards her stated goal!

    • Rhyla has closed up her offices, but cleaned things up and invited those who need somewhere to stay in to the places she has that are on the second story. Her priority is families first, and men can get out there and damn well defend the city, a sentiment that none argue with.

    • Heffa is working with the dwarves of the city, moving from place to place taking measurements and comparing it to plans he carries with him, making adjustments and shouting orders in Dwarven.

    • Ryan Fisher and Enenen Snydders are nowhere to be seen._

  • María enters the docks with a tired look on her face, despite of this, she goes around casting strengh spells (22 in total) to those who seem to need it more and accept it, as well as protection from elements spells (8 in total).
She then moves to the 3 spots where they seem to be more in a hurry, those that need to be tended to first, and after asking with a tired smile for them to gather arround briefly, she casts an extended masshaste that affects anyone that got closer. Not known for her massive strengh, María heads back to the inn, only to come back with a bag full of ales and another full of food, which she distributes amongst the workers and volunteers.

((Money for the food and drinking to be given to DM still since I didn't know how much to trash.

  • Ashena too pitches in, unrelentingly cheerful and soon as muddy as Talindra as she drags heavy sandbags and supplies with the aid of her trusty paladin steed, Fury. Now and again when struggling with the burdens, a distinct braying sound is heard, before the young paladin giggles to herself.

    "Eeee-aww!"

  • Assisting with Sabre's efforts, Rasuil joins in bringing his own work crew along. Consisting of a small earth elemental for the heavy lifting, a 200 lb black panther for sandbag distribution and.. a small penguin he calls Earl, which doesn't seem to do much beyond enjoying the rising water and chasing after the odd fish. Anyone questioning his methods is met with a stare and a response of "What's tha problem, ye don' want tha help? ..s'what I thought, carry on."

  • _While the crew work overtime to secure the Black Sails warehouse and the adjoining Lucky Ferret Inn from flooding, Captain Sabre Seesaw bustles about like a ferret in black herself, issuing orders, hauling sandbags and clearing the precious wine cellar as the water keeps rising. In the Ferret's kitchen, great big pots of pea soup bubble, served for free to everyone working in the vicinity.

…and onboard her ship, The Raven, fearful and pious prayers are spoken to Umberlee to spare the city her mighty wrath as scatterings of valuables are made to the ever growing icy waters._

  • _Despite rumors of Talindra hosting another rally in the Civic district it seems to be delayed as the flooding comes.

As the rain continues to pour down she is seen entering the docks alongside several workers carrying pots of hot soup and warm wine for all the workers. Food tents are set up between the warehouses of the docks to offer the workers a break when needed and a warm meal to fill their stomachs.

While the food and drink are enjoyed by those who require a break Talindra takes her armor off and joins the effort in piling sandbags along the docks, it not taking long before she is soaked and covered in mud as she works alongside the Defenders, Guards and volunteers. She works most of the day and offers the blessings of Tyr upon anyone who requires it to give strength and endurance to the workers._

  • _As the Defenders, Guards, and volunteers work together to stop the flooding moving in to the city, a hooded and cloaked figure moves amongst the workers, casting magics with nary a glance. Where they go, the workers find themselves feeling warmed and strengthened, and the water recedes, if only for long enough to give the workers enough time to reinforce the sandbag barricade.

Anyone who tries to speak to the figure will be gently but firmly ignored, it seems they just want to do the job before them._

  • _The volunteers work with the Defenders and Guards that are already sandbagging properties and the docks themselves, to hold back as much water as possible. Any hint of political ideology is put aside for survival.

The rain, as far as the Ceruleans can tell, is not magical in its origin or nature… it simply seems to be a freak occurance, the sort of thing you would expect to occur once every two hundred years or so.

The water is already flowing in to the sewers through the outflow and down through the many grates and drains. A quick examination of the sewers would show that the water is at LEAST waist deep in the most traversible parts. The cultists that were once to be found in the sewers have disappeared, flooded out. The undead and oozes are a different story._

  • ::Mariston gathers any volunteers he can to help make and place sandbags throughout the docks district.
He then petitions an audience with The Knights of the Cerulean Stars to determine if the rain is a natural occurrence or if another election shall see magics cast against the city
He also speaks with city hall to determine if any ingress of water could be channeled into the cavernous sewer system::

  • _In a fit of extravagant boredom, Walter is inspired by the flooding begins work on a series of sketches with which to 'better' the City. A massive aqueduct stretches from one end of the city to the other, and within each district at the base of one or two of the aqueduct's support pillars appear to be designs for massive reservoirs. Within the cut-away section of an example reservoir there appears to be a mechanical working, a series of wheel, cogs, pulleys and pumps. The chief power is built up by allowing large volumes, impossible volumes perhaps, of water to rush through the aqueduct's support pillars – as though arteries -- and finally turn the wheels, to activate the pumping process. The diagram continues in detail to show water from the reservoirs (being fed via the aqueduct) being pumped through waterways around the city, and ending ultimately in a city-wide system of running water, powered entirely by the same water used to run the mechanisms.

The entire thing is portrayed to be built up from more stone than makes up the whole city, enough metal to equip several lifetimes of armies in fine arms and armour, and cost more coin than can possibly exist in all the world. The enormous scale of the wheels and other inner workings would take a forest of trees to supply the timber. And it would surely take a sea to supply enough water to generate enough force to bring the whole thing to life. Perhaps if scaled down the module could be viable, if decadent.

After wasting several days of his life creating the fantastical plans for his man-made-wonder, he scores a single line through the entire thing -- in an unused corner of his planning paper, Walter etches in a simple well-like structure, with a stick figure holding a bucket. This tiny image is underlined several times. Perhaps emphasising to himself that not every problem needs to be overthought. And not every solution is beyond the means of men. He celebrates the revelation with a steamed pork bun, and gets back to work._

  • Troff Legion Captain Romulus continues his nightly patrols and is overheard in the Commons announcing to all who can hear that the rain has ceased (at least for now) south of the city. The road between Peltarch and Norwick remains open. The Nars Bridge was fully funtional and Legion engineers have been ordered to build levies there and keep it open.

Farther south, the Crossroads is unaftected, but water from the Ice Lake has flooded Sam's Hole and filled it halfway to the entrance to the Rats and Bats Restaurant. Norwick appeared normal except for the boat landing and the area along the river east of town.
