Refugees in the pass
-
_For a while now, a group of refugees had sought safety in the Nars Pass, near the bridge. After an unfortunate incident though, the refugees have moved on to the Temple of Kelemvore, having lost one of their number to the many dangers of Narfell.
Anyone who seeks them out will be told of the kindness of strangers, who told them of the death and helped out the survivors._
"Blessin's on them kind sirs, blessin's of the Triad"

Troff Legion Captain Romulus came across the remains of the Damaran refugee camp during his daily patrol. Entering the old Gypsy Camp via the Spider Woods, he explored the whole camp and valley, finding nothing new or unusual. Only after exiting out through the pass to the east did he spot the burning ruins of the refugee camp outside the fence.
Two Gali (without arms displayed) were guarding the road. A couple armed soldiers were standing around the remains of the camp and a child was wandering around. Several bodies were piled in a heap by the side of the road, and three fresh graves already marked with gravestones were farther to the east near where the Damaran noble's retinue used to be camped. Blackened and burned spots were visible across the road to the north.
Romulus questioned the guards about what happened, and was told that gnolls had attacked in the middle of the night. Pledging to do something about it, the Legion Captain made his way to Peltarch to seek assistance. In the Commons, he recruited Gnarl, Lycka, and Leena to help him. Together, they entered the gnoll woods and fought their way through the narrow cliff passage, slaying dozens of gnolls in the process. Sirion joined them half way through. The remains of a dead human were found in a clearing midway through the pass.
After crossing through the lower portion of the woods all the way to the west, Romulus led them south into the Gypsy Camp. The others gasped in horrow when they arrived at the entrance to the pass and saw the devastation left by the gnolls. Lycka suggested that perhaps the Damaran refugees could move into the settlements like Norwick and Peltarch rather than remaining camped in the wild where attacks like this, alas, cannot always be prevented.

_The refugee camp in the Gypsy valley seems to have been thrown into some disarray.
The remaining Damarans, bravely trying to pick up the pieces, speak of a savage raid by gnolls in the dead of night, catching the camp by surprise.
Despite a hasty defence put up by some Gypsy caretakers, former soldiers and nobles' bodyguards, they were unable to prevent parts of the camp being destroyed, the taking of several women and children and sustaining of several casualties._

A day or two passed, when a man and a woman arrived to the refugees camp. The woman layed down the bagpack's of the dead refugees that were found dead in the Gnoll woods. The man explained to the refugees what they had encountered, and left the corpses of the refugees on the ground so they could have a proper burial

The refugees thank Celestria for the supplies, and also her warnings, but state with some ire that they need to support themselves or starve, despite earlier warnings by certain friendly rangers. There are already stories of encounters while foraging nearby, and it seems that some parties sent to cut wood or collect material from the surrounding areas have not returned.

Celestria is oft seen speaking with the refugees who will speak to her. She brings various supplies and speaks with them of the surrounding areas and their needs, also warning them of nearby dangers

Now that camps have settled within a stone's throw of giant spiders, Danika too has been seen walking the edge of the campfire light. In her wake lie a trail of spider husks.

_The number of Damaran refugees taking shelter at the Gypsy Camp increase; it seems they have spilled out into the valley leading to the camp proper.
Some of them wear the trappings of nobility; rumor has it that a noble has promised a bounty of 25 gold for each gnoll head brought to him, for some reason._
//if you catch me in-game, you can exchange any gnoll heads acquired for the bounty - just send me a tell. For levels 10 and below, please.

The refugees thank Romulus about warning them of the dangers of the pass. Some depart after some days, bound for the east and south; some eventually make their way to the Gypsy Camp.
Some of the refugees are later seen as hired help on nearby farms or in skilled trades, whereas some have even set up tentative businesses in the surrounding towns.
Recently, a knight clad in the crimson-and-gold livery of the Ever Vigilant has been seen talking to refugees in the pass. He attends to some of the injured before heading back north on his charger.

Legion Corporal Romulus has continued to patrol the road between Peltarch and Norwick, as well as to scout the woods on both sides of the Nars pass and the Gypsy Camp. During daylight hours, he marches down the center of the road at a walking pace, armed and armored and wearing his Legion colors. At night, he sticks to the woodline, walking silently and observing carefully all the back and side passages, looking for any evidence of danger or change.
In the past week he found the camps of four different groups of refugees. All seem to be from Damara. One family with children remains in the northeast portion of the old Gypsy Camp. Another group is camped just north of the road, behind the first gate in the Gypsy Valley between the Nars Bridge and the Gypsy Camp. This group has horses and includes merchants and traders.
A third group is camped out north of the Long Road near the Kelemvore Temple. A fourth, just discovered, includes two Damaran lumberjacks in the woodline on a high hill west of the road and south of the Gnoll Woods entrance.
Romulus warned them of dangers of the Nars, including hoards of giant spiders south of the Gypsy Camp, and gnolls in the woods to the north. He urged them to avoid those areas. Some of the refugees would speak to him when asked, but none told him anything of substance.

Corporal Romulus Grey of the Troff Legion has stepped up nightly patrols of the Nars Pass. Each night at dusk he has walked from Peltarch's south gate to the Cross Roads and back, checking also the entire woodline, the Long Road east as far as the river behind Heroes Bluff, and the Gypsy Camp.
He noted that the refugee family previously camped south of the Nars Bridge have relocated to the Kelemvore Temple, but a somewhat larger family remains in the northeast portion of the Gypsy Camp. Corporal Romulus warned them again that he had spotted dozens of huge spiders in the woods to the south of the Gypsy Camp, and that they must not go there.
