A New Attack in the Pass

  • A gruesome sight awaited the talking travelers Cecil and Raryldor after leaving Peltarch, a still-burning caravan, with all of it's oxen and occupants slaughtered, and gnolls wreaking havoc, and attacking the two on sight.

Also nearby, Unen, Jin, and a few others including Thalassa and (Sorry if I forget anyone) joined in finishing off the last of them, before surveying the wreckage.

Damaran clothing and colors made it clear who the victims were, but small footprints led away, as well as some sobbing from a nearby copse of trees, heard by Cecil.

One survivor was found, a young boy, who Cecil coaxed out from the trees and walked all the way to the temple, leaving him in the care of Lady Salina, before going back and with the help of Jin, carting the bodies, -and- the Damaran goods, all back to the Temple as well, to make sure they would be brought safely to their destinations, if at all possibly, and with honest intentions.

Cecil will visit the Temple often in the next couple of days, checking in on the child, and the status of things, helping in any way he can.

  • Vick heads south after the latest reports, mumbling something about not returning to the tower until the ink has worn off his hands. A bounce seems to appear in his step as he waves to the guards and heads out into the woods

  • ::Rumours spread about another caravan of Damarans having found an abrupt end in the gnoll woods. Some adventurers appear to have arrived just too late, only to find pillaged cartwheels and the dead bodies of the victims, with only a few gnolls left scavenging the remains::

  • The trickle of people arriving into the region continues, although some stay, they mostly move on after a few days.

Those staying have begun taking on jobs from the locals, such as woodworking. However, it seems they have not fully familiarised themselves with the dangers of the region. Already there are stories that of workers not returing from the Hidden Pass, or even Jiyyd itself while prospecting.

  • Charged by the Legion with keeping the Nars Pass and Crossroads safe, Romulus carried out a night patrol to the Gypsy Camp and all the woods around it investigating rumors of travelers there. He found a small group of refugees camped out beside the road, just south of the Nars Bridge, and another somewhat larger family in the northeast corner of the old Gypsy Camp. Romulus warned them all that he had seen giant spiders in the woods just south of the Gypsy Camp and that they should not go that way.

  • Every once in a while, small groups of people can be seen camping out in the Pass. Some of them head further south, or east, to an uncertain future, while a few head for the Gypsy Camp nearby.

More often than not, they bear the signs of a long journey, and sometimes marks of having tangled with gnolls or ogres.
