Jason was born in Neverwinter in a village called Everfrost. He spent the first eleven years of his life there with his mother and his half orc brother Jake Selious. His father had died a hero in a battle against Valsharran's when he was five. Jason had been taught early on that to be a Pain barer and a loyal son of Ilmater was the greatest honor a man could have and at the age of nine the temple granted him the marking and title of a Pain Barer. He was engaged to a young girl of a nearby village named Kistana who was barely a year younger then himself. It was the eve of his eleventh birthday that his life changed forever.

He had presented Kistana a gift of a doll, something she adored and he was happy for it, but rumors of the Valsharran army trying to take over Neverwinter was everywhere. It was rumored they were still further to the east though and were nowhere near the villages. It started as if in slow motion at first, a dark wave slowly walking into the city before it all became real, undead, Velsharrans, people running, screaming…dying....undying...it was a nightmare and fear instantly got the better of him when a priest of Velsharoon moved infront of him. He gazed at the man in fear and turned heel and fled. They didn't bother following him and he made it to the treeline and would have continued, but for the shriek that chilled him to the bone. He turned in time to see Kistana fall dead to the ground. He fell to the ground sobbing still hidden in the brush and remained there till all was silent. When he finally did step out all he found was the burnt and destroyed husks of what used to be a village and a bloodied and damaged doll....the one he had given Kistana. Unable to accept the burden of what had just happened he turned and fled Neverwinter and never looked back.

Twelve years later a young man stepped onto the docks of Cordor, he was tired and sore from a long sail but more then happy to be on dry land. He had little to his name but was more then happy with his meager items for they were truly his. His first goal was to apply to the city of Benwick, a holy city of the Triad and for near a full year he did very well, he felt Ilmater smile on him and was even granted a paladinship. His heart though called him another direction, one he would one day begin to understand, back to Cordor and into the Cordorian guard.

He spent much time there as a recruit for the first three months, then a private though never quite advancing from there. He took a wife named Helen and settled down with her. Making close friends with a high priest of Tempus named Lence he was content with his life. Eventually Lence asked him to come and serve under him in the militia and aid him there as his Sergeant and Drill Sergeant to which Jason was happy to comply. He aided a drow raid and a few other minor tasks and eventually began to get things stabilized there. It was not to be though.

A few months down the line he found himself sick and badly so to the point it was clearly obvious. Having stood against a corrupted councillor he soon found himself arrested and brought to the citys jail where they made false charges of Purgery which he asked them to tell him when he falsified anything in a official statement for which they could not answer, then for Sedition for which again they could not tell him where he had done anything to insight a riot and bring down the government, then treason for which again they could not explain how him collecting a key he was ordered to take was an act of treason. Eventually as they ran out of charges they sentenced him instead to Six months jail time and threw him into a cell with two days worth of food and water and left him there.

Over a week later at the time Sergeant Tristan came to check on him and found his health had severely deteriorated and in exchange for freedom he was blackmailed into signing a confession to treason and sedition. He was placed under house arrest and moved to his home where another friend of his that was also a guard at the time found him to have an extreme case of pneumonia and hypothermia and told him that he needed to flee Cordor immediately before they could trump up something else against him and have him locked away for good. He took into account his condition and the orders against him and agreed and was moved to the dwarven city of Brog. Maythor of Brog who was at the time one of the leaders instantly offered him sanctuary within his city and the two began spreading the word when Jason was stronger and more healthy.

It didn't take the island long to turn against Cordor for the injustice and eventually the councillor Jolly Fiddlesticks came up to see Jason more personally and removed the charges against him. Though the damage was done and Jasons reputation was ruined. His health also had been effected by this and it had left him with a more permanent cough. His wife during this time had gone off and tried to kill a Banite she had failed to convert which to this day why she did this he still doesn't know.

The banite church failing to find her went after Jason instead to get revenge for their wounded comrade. After hours and hours of torture and beatings and branding's a high priest of Bane with a mastery in necromancy using dark magic plunged a fist into his chest grabbing hold of his spine and cursing him with Necro rot ( aka magically caused Gangrene on the spine ) which was more advanced and spread faster. He was then released to suffer and managed to limp back to Cordor.

His friend Jan managed to surgically remove most of it with the help of a Tormtar friend Shäalira. The surgery was painful and it forced his retirement both from the paladinship and from the Military due to injuries and health. He soon moved his family up to Benwick in an attempt to join the clergy there and did for a few months, but his health grew far worse and eventually he went back to Cordor to stay with a friend. He eventually became so ill that he went comatose and they must have assumed he died, he woke up beside a grave with the grave digger beside it preparing to bury him. He panicked and ran instantly and being so badly disoriented he jumped on the nearest boat and fled from Cordor landing months later on the docks of Peltarch.
