A warrior's path

  • …The city of Peltarch looked like the same he had left more than a year ago...

The dawn's dim light started to illuminate the city, and the travellers who were on the ship with him scattered through the streets as the ship docked at the city port. As Andrew made his way through the familar city,
he could not help to think again to the Lathander High Priest's words...

"Priest! Priest!" Andrew entered running in the Waterdeep Lathander temple's main hall holding a huge, ancient tome in his hand. The old man slowly turned towards him questioningly, quitting his prayer."Priest,i've found it!Look here!"Andrew opened the book with a clear expression of relief, pointing to a particular page. The old priest's face gradually put on a great surprise expression as his eyes finished to examine the writing.
He looked to Andrew amazed:"It's...it's unbelievable....my son...it really exists then?"
"It does,it does! And its whereabouts are shown in this map!" the young man could barely talk due to a mix of happiness and astonishment.

The priest's visage suddenly became serious, although still very wondered:
"Today....today,my son, you've been assigned a heavy burden and responsibility...you are still..very young. You have a whole life to live ahead of you..are you sure you don't want to give up? I could inform the High Council of this unbelievable discovery, and they may send more experienced warriors and paladins in order to retrieve and use...the artifact.

Andrew shaked slowly the head with a warm smile:
"I'm not afraid, priest. I've been training hard for years, since when i found that old scroll in the temple's library who mentioned the existence of the artifact...can you remember? it happened at least two years ago...now i've mastered my skills and abilities.
The Morninglord watched over me during my training... i CAN do it.

The priest gazed at him for a few seconds, finally nodding:"So be it.
Today, you shall receive the blessing of the Morninglord. You carry a great responsibility, Andrew. May he guide you in your travels, enlighten your path and give you the strenght and will to accomplish your quest. Go with the approval of Lathander , my son, and be proud of you deeds, whatever they may be."
After a few holy gestures and blessing words, the priest finally hugged the young man in a far less formal way, failing to hold back tears.

...The rising sun suddenly illuminated Andew's visage as he was walking in Peltarch's port. With a smile,he whispered a prayer towards the dawn..
Finally, he was back. More than a year of training and research...had finally proven useful. A legendary artifact was hiding somewhere in Narfell lands...hiding and waiting for a champion ready to wield it in dark times...
