Alyssa was born into a family of 7, two parents and five children (all girls). She was the youngest out of all her siblings. Her mother worked as a day servant to a wealthy noble and her father was a blacksmith. When Alyssa was born she gave her parents quite a shock. She was born with the wings of a dragon. The wings had significantly complicated the birth and her mother died soon afterwards. Her father, furious about this, cut off her wings.
Since Alyssa's mother died during her birth, her eldest sister Kathryn was her primary influence when growing up. Her father would put her and her sisters to work in the local farmer’s fields to raise extra money to support his drinking. He especially worked Alyssa to the bone, due to his huge dislike for her. Now and then her father would beat her and her sisters for screwing up, getting in the way, but mostly for no reason at all. Alyssa's oldest sister Kathryn, would spend most of her spare time protecting her sisters from their father's wrath. This was mostly because Kathryn was the oldest and was best able to stand up against their father. When Alyssa's sisters became 15 years old, they left home to avoid their father’s beatings and to start their own lives. Kathryn stayed home long enough to make sure that everyone else got out of their fathers house safely. When it was Alyssa's turn to leave, her and Kathryn left together, but were soon split up because of their father's pursuit. Ever since that monumental day Alyssa has been searching for Kathryn, only to find places that she had been, hearing about things that she has done for other people.
After many more years of searching, Alyssa found her quest to bring her to the lands of Narfell, where the trail for Kathryn had gone cold.
