Khâlomèy, Knight of Peltarch

  • Khâlomèy, Knight of Peltarch and Priest to the Lady Sevenstar

Priestly goals : To advance the knowledge and understanding of the Weave by uncovering the ancient mysteries that lie below the Nars. To one day enchant a powerful magical item that will be a shining beacon to Mystra's glory and a strong force for good ( ooc'ly this should not be any equipable item, rather something like a seeing stone that only works for good aligned people, etc … ). And finally, to resanctify the lost Temple of Mystra that was discovered a few years ago, then lost again

Personal goals : To eventually rebuild his noble lineage into a family and plot of land of his own

Home : Khâlomèy resides in the Cerulean Knight barracks, though he is often a guest of the assorted noble houses in Peltarch, on account of his social position. He has also been known to rent rooms in the Mermaid

Lore Specialization : the priest has always concentrated on cosmological/philosophical 'deep' knowledge, such as the true nature of the Gods, the Weave, the Multiverse etc ... and the history of magic in Faerun. Thus he has a relatively limited knowledge of the practical aspects of the Art

Presence : Khâlomèy might be considered somewhat handsome, though certainly nothing truly remarkable. When clad for battle, his presence is unmistakable though, and makes a fearsome impression upon both friend and foe alike. His elaborate manner of speech and controlled motions instantly mark him as nobility

    Height : about 178 cm

    Weight : 75 kg

Skin Tone : slightly tanned & swarthy, but less than a common Damaran

Skin Texture : quite smooth, actually

Eyes : blue circled by grey

Hair : relatively long, smooth chestnut brown

Voice : deep and smooth, the voice of an orator

Accent : his common has no recognizable accent, and is quite close to the 'ideal'. Should he speak Damaran, those from that region and the natives of Narfell ( info, the regional language for Narfell is also Damaran ) will notice his aristocratic pronounciation. When he uses Elven, it is tilted towards a Damaran accent

Recognizable Features : he has a 'designers' stupple' vaguely reminding of a goatee

Commonly spoken languages : he speaks common, Damaran, elven and is slowly ( very slowly ) mastering Draconic

Equipment Worn : Khâlomèy, when relaxed, wears a rich robe coloured in various shades of blue, and a Mystran pendant round his neck. When prepared for battle, he wears a beautifully crafted fullplate, boasting the deeper shades of black, noble gold, and the rich luster of bronze, with matching helm

Equipment Carried : his prized possessions are an ebony greatsword infused with the essence of lightning, two rings enhancing his memory and divine channeling, gauntlets slightly enhancing his physical prowess, and an unremarkable bow he's had for years. Khâlomèy does not carry a shield, on account of his relatively lacking strength. Oh, and his favourite pipe, a gift from the Magistrate of Peltarch

Left Handed or Right Handed : left handed

Jewelry or Decorations : absolutely nothing at all, except his Mystran pendant and an unremarkable amulet he shows almost no one, adorned with a bas-relief of what looks like seven mountaintops

Relatives : two brothers, both older than him, living in Damara. He hasn't spoken with them since he left

Body Build : somewhat muscular build, like someone who exercises regularly, but certainly not remarkable. There is a certain grace to his movements though

Official Positions : Cerulean Knight of the Third Star, Guard of Peltarch in a back-up capacity

STR 14 : strong enough to wield a large blade and wear the heaviest armours, but little more than that

DEX 12 : though he seldom gets the chance to show it off, he's certainly lithe enough to not make a fool of himself at a courtly dance

CON 12 : he's in good physical condition, but it's obvious turning his body and muscles to steel was not a priority

WIS 16 : very perceptive, he can judge a situation easily. this is sometimes confused for brashness, but that's just his desire to solve problems in an expedient manner

INT 12 : he may not be the quickest thinker, but he'll get there eventually. combined with his WIS it makes for a mentally competent character, overall

CHA 14 : usually calmly confident, he isn't easily fazed. he's reluctant to take on a leader's mantle though, because his actions mostly take place within a hierarchy

    Biography :

Bastard son of a Ravensburg noble and his court mage, Khâlomey grew up in the lush duchy of Carmathan in Damara. The trappings of his station ensured an excellent education in the arts of war and logic, and when Khâlomey was 12 years old, his mother noted a certain sensibility to the Weave in him.

Thinking she had found a successor to her position in her own son, the mage sent the young man off to a small temple of Mystra near the small northern town of Coldwater, to be trained in the arcane arts. His father was not entirely unhappy with the arrangement, owing to the unofficial birth status of the future knight. A few weeks after Khâlomey left Zhengyi the Witch King began the first sudden, bloody offensive in what would become known across all Faerun as the Bloodstone Wars.

While Khâlomey completed his education in matters of lore and spellcraft, proving less adept than hoped for, the Witch King and his host descended upon Damara in their final triumph, crushing her armies swiftly and mercilessly. King Virdin was struck down and all hope lost ... Most of the nobles were assassinated in the following chaos, and the ensuing wars between the southern territories brought about the destruction of Ravensburg and many other cities.

Isolated and difficult to reach, Khâlomey's temple survived the mayhem and vowed to oppose the dark arts of Zhengyi. When Gareth Dragonsbane and his companions, after years of questing and hopeless battles, challenged the Witch King and his minions for supremacy, Mystra's servants went forth and joined the growing offensive.

Khâlomey's magical skills were still too small to make any meaningful contribution, so he drew upon his childhood education and took up a blade. During the terrible battles against the undead hosts he fought admirably, resisting even the blackest magics, and men started whispering Mystra's favour was upon him.

After the endless conflict was finally settled in favour of Gareth and the Bloodstone Lands were at peace once more under the Dragonsbane's strong hand, the young warrior travelled back to Ravensburg, knowing he would never make a good mage, only to discover his father and mother slain in the chaos years, the ancestral keep burned down, and his oldest brother heir to a title that held little more than shattered ruins and blighted lands.

Seeing nothing was left for him in Carmathan, Khâlomey travelled to Dragonsbane Gate and the great temple of Mystra held within its walls...

Offering service once more, the wise priest recognized the trappings of a paladin of Mystra in his charge instead of the sorceror his mother saw in young Khâlomey. Owing to his previous education and battle experiences, he mastered the training quickly, and was anointed paladin of Mystra after three years of hard work.

Instead of joining the Knight of Mystic Fire as a temple guard, Khâlomey wished to leave the lands of his youth and longed for new sights. Aware of his restlesness, the temple granted him the status of Knight Errant, and charged Khâlomey with furthering the cause of Mystra in the wider world.

The paladin immediately felt drawn by the eastern lands of Narfell, its deep valleys and dark woods holding the promise of unknown lore and the ruins of a powerful empire. Joining up with one of the few caravans bound to that harsh place, Khâlomey crossed the Merchant's Run and finally arrived in Jiyyd ...
