A brief history of how Bale came to reside in Jiyyd:

Long ago, about 17 years or so ago, in fact. A small boy of unknown decent, rolled in on a bed of deep blue ocean waves onto an area of The Sword Coast near the city of Waterdeep. It just so happens an elderly fisherman was on his way to pull out his traps when he saw the small child, unconcious and afloat upon a slab of wood. The boy was young, roughly 5 years old or so, and in poor health.
The elderly man, in his late 50's, took in the small child and brought him to his small fishing village which was nessled within the woods only 30 or so miles out from Waterdeep by the name of Lucad.

It was apparent instantly to the boys elderly caretaker, a man by the name of Kyst Tarrant, that this young boy was far from ordinary. For one, the child had hair that had gone a pure silvery white, and the childs peircing blue eyes both made the young man stand out in a crowd. Kyst took good care of the boy, who later was able to recall his name, Bale. The child had no last name that he could recall, and so Kyst donned on his new adopted son, his own last name, Tarrant.

And so, the story treads on, the boy comming to think of Kyst as his given father, and Kyst comming to think of Bale as his given son. Though Bale often was shunned by those around him in the village, due to his obviously strange appearance, this did not bother Kyst at all. As Bale grew older, the village slowly came to accept the odd man as one of their own, despite is natural oddities.

Bale had a good life and the village of Lucad was calm, all up untill one unlucky day. Orcish raider had come in a ship down the River Dessaris, apparently a small raiding group, for they did not seem well equipped or of many in number. Certainly, though, they were enough to dispatch the tiny fishing village, a village with no bred or trained warriors. The orcs came, they raped, they pillaged, they stole the peoples food, they bruned down houses and killed for the sake of killing. These orcs hated the humans in Lucad, as well as all humans, this village just happened to be an easy target. Kyst, now an old man in his 60's, attempted to hold off one of the Orcs who had stumbled upon Bales and his own home, he failed. Before Bale could even react, Kyst was cloven in half, and left to rot on the porch of his own home. The orcs proved too much for Bale aswell, and decided to string the young man up by his neck, letting him hang from the corner of the roof.

From this vantage point, Bale could only watch as the place he had come to know as his home, was burned and pillaged, just for the pure facet of hate, and the fact these raiders only chose the easiest of targets, ones with no chance of survival. The Orcs did not stick around long in the village, but left again down the river form which they came, leaving the dead village, and Bale, to die and rot. As the young man hung from the noose, feeling his life slipping away, he heard a loud yell. It was a scout from Waterdeep, he was there to see what was with all the smoke pouring from Lucad was about. He came across Bale struggling with the noose, and cut the young man down. Bale was thankfull to the man, but the noose had left a deep gash about the width of his neck, a wound that would later scar the man both mentally and physically.

Ever since that day, Bale has wandered from Waterdeep, in search of a place where he may one day prevent what happened to him, form happening to anyone else. Some called him murderer, some called him hero, along this path. None were sure which was true. He killed those who were bandits and thieves, and even those he simply suspected of being bandits, thieves, and killers. His blade has no mercy, and his mind follows without conscience, the blood on his hands becomming thicker with every kill. Bales mind eventually began to wane, and the line between friend and foe, ally and enemy, began to get thinner, and thinner.

Bale soon got a reputation in the areas surrounding Waterdeep, as an insane, obsessive killer, who slaughtered with the lack of rational thought or conscience, and for the most part, this was true. For Bale though, in his mind, he was serving out justice, killing those he suspected of being bandits and murderers, only to, in reality, become one himself.

And so, Bale left the area, in search of a place far off, where he would not be recognized or known. He travelled long, and his body eventually became wasted, Bale lost much of his strength and vigor, but eventually reached a town called Jiyyd. The laws here, were fairly relaxed, and the food was damn good, and the people here, they seemed friendly, and best of all, they knew nothing of him.

Now, he searched out bandits, thieves, orcs, and other evils who would threaten senseless killing, and destroy them all. Blade stained with blood, and the long white whisping hair across his face. Bale, also, searches now for where he came from, why it is no other humans quite resemble him, he has yet to find and answer.
