Autoloading Ammunition

  • Gah!

    You felt like an idiot the first time you were out and noticed you'd used 89 of the best arrows you have ever EVER seen on goblins instead of orcs. Then someone teased your PC about that and gave them super duper anti caster arrows and you promised you'd not waste them and put them somewhere safe. Then you got another quiver of those and could have cried when you were back out at goblins again and bothered checking what ammo you were using and had autoloaded the new ones and gone through another 20 of those. On Goblin shorties!!!

    Breathe. Relax. And don't let it happen again.

    So, how to avoid your PC autoloading all your best magical ammo instead of regular stuff.

    1. Top up your ammo after each skirmish
    Once you're in the habit of doing this you should be fine.

    2. Pick up mundane arrows
    The last arrows you picked up are the ones that get autoloaded. When you get special arrows drop multiple stacks of regular ones then pick them up again so that the ones you got most recently are always mundane. A lot of people carry a box of mundane arrows they use for this.

    @d15a43e35d=Sethan:

    Spoke to Thri about this on IRC once. Ammunition is a stack.

    So - the first things you pick up (or buy) are on the bottom of the stack. The most recent things picked up are on the top of the stack.

    It pulls from the top of the stack first.

    So - if you really want to make sure your magic bolts are the very last ones pulled, when you acquire magic bolts, drop all your bolts, then pick up the magic ones first, and normal ones last.

    3. Use Quick Slots
    If you quick slot a few stacks of ammo you can see how much you have left and click to start a new stack when the first is running low.
