Aran Brynmor

  • Player: Strepsiades
    Character Name: Aran Brynmor

Grandson of Michael, patriarch of House Brynmor, and grandnephew of Sir Roland. His father, Petyr Brynmor, is a Wavebreaker Captain who has managed guild and family interests in Heliogabalus since the end of the N'Jast War, during which he received a leg wound that left him largely unable to continue his duties aboard ship.

Aran was only an infant when the armies of N'Jast invaded Narfell, destroying Jiyyd and besieging Peltarch. His family arranged to have him sent to Damara. Consequently, and due to the widespread destruction of Peltarch during the war, Aran spent his childhood years in Damara. In Heliogabalus, his time was divided between studies in languages, mathematics, and Realms history with his tutors – mainly monks from the Monastery of the Yellow Rose – as well as horse riding and sailing. When Aran was old enough, his grand-uncle, Sir Roland, arrived in Heliogabalus to train the boy in basic swordsmanship and tactics. This continued for two years, before Sir Roland continued on his westward journey to Helm's Hold. Aran then trained with a retired knight of the Companions of the Noble Heart and was briefly considered for service in the Church of Ilmater, but it was determined that he had no strong divine calling.

At the age of twelve, Aran joined his father on several business trips in Damara and the surrounding lands, traveling as far away as Cormyr and Sembia by ship and overland caravan. He returned to Heliogabalus at sixteen, having learned much of the family business but deciding that the life of a merchant was not for him. It was then agreed that he should return to Peltarch at last, to see the city where he was born but had been forced to leave at such a young age. He was accompanied back to the city, coincidentally, by his grand-uncle Roland, who had mysteriously reappeared after several years of absence with little explanation, as always.

Since returning to Peltarch, Aran has spent much of his time meeting with cousins and other extended family, and has familiarized himself with the noble circles of which the Brynmors are a part. However, while he is friendly and well-spoken, with most of the trappings of a noble upbringing, Aran has shown little interest in the lifestyle. He does not enjoy gossip. He is a man who knows enough to dress well, but not enough to care about the latest fashions due out of Waterdeep next year. On the other hand, he has shown a strong interest in getting out and "finally seeing Narfell" for himself. Some say that the Brynmors have produced another adventurer.

    Physical Description:

A tall, well built young man, with dark brown hair and blue eyes. He is not unattractive. He walks with a confident, if unassuming, stride. His hair is kept short and his face is clean shaven. His gaze shows a quiet alertness, his hands resting at his sides most times, waiting casually to reach for a weapon. But you also detect a slight grin on his lips as his eyes flit about his surroundings, as if he has noticed a friend or seen something amusing. Perhaps it is merely an affectation to put others at ease, or perhaps it is genuine.
