    Smoke rises from a twist of burnt timbers and ash that just the other day was a lovely cottage on the outskirts of Peltarch. This cottage was home to Kendra and Scott Van Orah, and their son Aiden. The Van Orah’s were part of the upper middle class and were fond of spoiling their son Aiden. Aiden was given a familiar that was born on the same day as he was a firiery imp by the name of Pyrros. This imp still remains a calls away from Aiden and helped him learn the complex art of arcane magic.

    Aiden attended one of the finest schools for magic and was an average student. He excelled in magic of the mind and you could often see him with a trail of rats that were under his command. Eventually he grew tired of simply controlling and turned to destruction. Pyrros was ever helpful in learning his abilities in fire magic being able to be a target dummy due to his flame kissed skin.

    Aiden continued school and graduated just like his classmates though he was never seen playing or socializing with them. Once he was of a mature age, he preformed his greatest work of art. Angry of how his parents hovered over all of his projects, he turned the subject of his next scheme on them. He charmed his parents and made them get into their bed. After he casted a sleep spell so they would not awake through the grand finally.

    With the help of his sidekick Pyrros, Aiden started a fire in the kitchen to make it look like a cooking fire was left lit. The fire eventually spread engulfing the house. To keep up the trickery, Aiden had Pyrros burn his arms as if he was trying to fight the fire.

    The next morning, the authorities see the smoke from the smoldering remains and walk up to investigate. They see Aiden there, crying into his arms and assume they are mournful tears; however, Aiden is secretly rejoicing at the completion of his task.

    After it is decided the house burned from the kitchen fire, Aiden no longer sees a need for his family name and changes his name to Salein. Salein sets off with companion Pyrros for the great city of Oscura looking to pledge their allegiance and excel in the art of mind control and magic.
